Can We Talk About Straws?
SaucyBandster replied to SaucyBandster's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks everyone! My Dr didn't tell me no straws, I have just read it on here from so many people so I assumed. I guess I will ask him at my appt next week and try it and see how I feel. Congrats on getting to your goal ShrinkAdink!! I can't wait! I just 10 days out -
Can We Talk About Straws?
SaucyBandster replied to SaucyBandster's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Something so minor but it's quite annoying LOL. I have one of those ecofriendly clear tall cups with the plastic straw and I would fill it a few times and suck it down quick. Now it's taking me SO long to get them in and I don't want to get lazy on it. -
February Bandsters?
SaucyBandster replied to mrsmyers2010's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Today was 10 days and I feel so much better. The first 4 days for me were pretty rough. My back was killing me and the port pain was painful. By day 5 I turned the corner. By day 7, I turned into a crazy woman and was beyond cabin fevered and depressed. Got out of the house for the first time Friday evening for a few hours and felt like a million bucks. By Sat, I was out all day and by Sunday I was out walking a few miles. My only pain now is at night in bed if I turn the wrong way. My incisions are starting to itch BAD because they are healing so it's driving me nuts. The hospital told me to leave the steri strips on and let them fall off on their own. As of this morning they were still on and I was getting pink welts under the tape. I had to carefully take them off so I think the welts are making the itch worse. Not sure what to do about them? The incision is ok but the welts are around the area. I want to claw my skin off. They look really good tho and I don't think I will have bad scarring at all in my 5 incisions. -
Mine is 2 weeks after as well. I was banded Feb 3rd and I go in on Feb 20th. I have my first fill 2 weeks after that as well for early March. So as you can see, it's not out of the ordinary. I was told to follow up with my PCP after surgery which I haven't done yet. I am healing well so will call and see if I need to.

Eatting The Same Way I Did Before Surgery Yet Im Not Gaining??
SaucyBandster replied to angieband's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't think the question is can you.. the question is should you. Why are you risking stretching your pouch?? I didn't get this surgery to still shove down a big burger and fries after. I am in no way being snarky but just concerned after reading many people with slipped bands, this is NOT the route I want to. I wouldn't risk over eating in large amounts. We made a massive sacrifice to help ourselves and insert a crazy device into our bodies. We went thru pain and healing. Don't risk it!! -
How Can I Possibly Drink All Of It???
SaucyBandster replied to Sojourner's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Sorry I was starving - I had no problems LOL I had 2 Protein shakes a day - Breakfast and lunch and then a very lean meat for dinner and green veggie. I would supplement with SF Jello and popsicles. Good Luck! -
How are you feeling now? I was banded exactly a week ago on Feb 3rd. I feel much better. My Dr doesn't give any initial fills because of the swelling. My first fill is scheduled for early March. What is your post op diet consisting of?
-
I was just officially banded last Friday! If everyone is following this group, can you tell us a little about yourself. What part of FL are you in? What stage of the band are you in? Pre or Post Op? If Post - How long ago were you banded?

SaucyBandster replied to Birdie1973's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I tried every diet product ever made including that. I have one word for you: GIMMICK Don't waste your money... work the band! -
Do you have a recliner? That helped me for the first 2-3 nights to sleep. I was NOT able to lay straight because it felt like it was pulling on my port. Stay on top of the pain med! By day 4 you will a million times better! I was banded last Friday and feel so much better today. Just port soreness - gas is totally gone. Good luck!!

Hi Greekie! I had my surgery at Palms of Pasadena as well last Friday. One week ago. I had the EXACT same experience as you so don't think this is out of the ordinary. The first 3 days are the toughest but it DOES GET BETTER EACH DAY!! I am on day 7 and feel SOOOO much better. Walk and get the gas out. Hold a pillow to your belly. Use a heating pad on your back. After two days, take a nice hot shower and beat the water on your back. It felt wonderful. Stay hydrated and stay on top of the pain meds!! You will be better SOON!! I promise And by the way - the unhooking to use the bathroom and not being able to go was HORRIBLE. There was so much pressure and a lot of IV in us. I feel ya!! LOL Who was your surgeon? Mine was Dr. Rehnke -
I am Feb 3rd! I am Day 5 of my Preop diet. Today I have a Headache and am pretty hungry. Was easier in the beginning than now but hanging in there.

Mushies/pureed Items While Dining Out?
SaucyBandster replied to ValAnn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Maybe for Breakfast - Poached Egg and cottage cheese lunch - Egg salad, Soups, mashed potatos, frozen yogurt dinner - Mexican - Eat the inside of a bean burrito? Refried Beans with avocado, sour cream to thin it out more. Soups are easy!! -
Old Appetite Back!!! Anyone Else Have This.
SaucyBandster replied to DAWSEY's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What stage are you in? I was just banded last Friday and my appetite came on like a vengeance by day 4. I progressed from clear liquids to full liquids and that has helped. I have a protein shake in the Am and some creamy soup in the afternoon and dinner. Then in between I drink a lot. Are you in creamies or softs? -

SaucyBandster replied to Cakes198's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded on Friday and I was up on the scale when I got home as well. Don't freak out! Your body is retaining fluids, gas, etc.. I am on day 4 and the scale has gone down drastically. -

Good Luck Greekie!!!! I was banded at Palms of Pasadena on Friday the 3rd. They were AMAZINGGGG!!! Who is your surgeon??? I had Dr Rehnke. If you have him, they tried to send me home WITHOUT pain meds and it was a BAD idea. MAKE SURE YOU GET PAIN MEDS!!!! But everyone in the surgical team was so incredible!!! Best of Luck to you -

How Much On Liquid Stage?
SaucyBandster replied to PixiePower's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded Friday and am on 2 weeks liquids as well. I have been having a mug of hot tea and a SF Jello cup for Breakfast, a half cup of Beef broth for lunch and then a cup of strained miso soup for dinner. I have been drinking crystal light in between along with Water, tea and SF Apple Cider. It's getting a bit boring already LOL. I so wish I could have creamy Soups. Life would be easier!! -

I had the SAME thing happen to me last week before my surgery. I had a sore throat and body aches. Get on Zithromax STAT!!! That helped me and by the 3rd day, I was great. I also drowned myself in Emergen-C. I took a lot of it and shocked my system with vitamin C and Zinc. Do it now before it's too late. Hope you feel better!! Thanks sweets!! It has been a ROUGH 3 days but today is SO much better. Thankfully!! I just wrote a blog on it. I have lots of blogs to catch up on I am happy to be on the other side now! -

Cls- yes two weeks on clears may be tough. At least not now but prob week two. I have ZERO hunger now. Everyone I know who has been banded couldn't do creamies for at least 2 weeks. So many variances! -

I too was banded on Feb 3rd and had no idea how much pain I would be in. Definitely more than I expected. My port pain is throbbing and feels like it pulls when I move and the trapped gas in my back and shoulders feels like someone is stabbing me. But what I can't believe is that you were banded on the 3rd too and are drinking protein shakes, creamy soups and yogurt. My surgeon has me on clear liquids for two weeks to heal. I'm having trouble getting anything down because I have zero hunger but I'm pushing liquids to stay hydrated. I'm amazed he let's you eat that and you can already. Wow!! But I thought I was a big baby too. I can barely move and am still in pajamas. I took my first shower today and took the bandages off. My port is right above my belly button which surprised me. I thought it would be on my side. -
Banded This Friday And Feel Like My Body Is Fighting Something.. Help!!
SaucyBandster posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am supposed to be banded this Friday the 3nd. I woke up this morning with a mild sore throat and a bit achey. I started slamming Emergen-C packs, echinacea and zinc. I am no longer allowed to have any medicines so I can't combat with that. I am SO worried. What if I get sick, will they postpone surgery???? I just had my EKG and labs on Friday and got the clear from my PCP to go ahead with surgery. Now I am so worried there will be a hiccup. -
