Just because you snack, doesn't mean you have to overdo it on calories ect. I eat every 2-3 hours (per doctor's orders) and have still never had more than 800 calories. I have lost 93# in less than 5 months. You can do it. Just make better choices on what you snack on. There are lots of options. Best wishes, I am also a stay-at-home mom (I have 4 kids, 2 with special needs) so I know how stressful this life can be. :)

Will I Ever Enjoy Eating Again?
BenisaMartim4 replied to ShouldBlittler's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well, I don't want to be a kill-joy, but for me the answer is no. I am over four months out and I do not enjoy eating at all. It is a task that has to be done to stay alive and that is it. I am never hungry and do not enjoy the taste of anything that I used to. My results cannot predict yours though. Everyone is different. And you know what, I may be different in another month. You evolve greatly from day to day, week to week after the sleeve. It is a road of a lot of twists and turns and surprises. The main thing is to have patience; something that is not a great virtue of mine. If I want to try something, I do it. It may make me throw up, but hey, if it does I'll be fine in a minute and I don't have to eat any more of it. I can leave it off for awhile and try it again in a couple of weeks. It's all trial and error. I have learned what things fill me up faster, what gives me heartburn and what swells and sits like a rock in my chest. I am trying to learn other things to enjoy; eating out was always our weekly highlight. Now, I do not enjoy it at all. I told my husband that I was going to have to learn how to shop (something I have never done). He is going to have to start giving me my saved food money to buy new clothes. I promised that I would spend some on some nice night clothes, so at least we could enjoy some good dessert together...LOL Best Wishes!! -
Nothing Bothers Me? Really?
BenisaMartim4 replied to Star1221's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It has really messed up my taste. Now I absolutely detest chocolate, cake, pie, cookies. I have tried it all and have heaved with every bit of it. It is just ungodly sweet now! I can eat a little vanilla ice cream, but even that gags me some times. I used to love chocolate. It kind of bothers me that I can't eat it; because I can't eat more than a bite of anything, I know for sure that I wouldn't over do it. My mom brought my husband and me a box of Russell Stouffer's bloopers back from the mountains last week. I put one in my mouth, chewed it a little and had to spit it out. It gaged me and I knew that I would throw up if I swallowed it. It is amazing to me just how much your taste can change with this; after all, they changed our stomachs, not our tongues...lol. -
I'm sorry for what you are going through. I know what it feels like. I had to take our little weenie dog and have him put down (2 years ago) because he decided to eat a plastic ball off of the Christmas tree. It caused a blockage and a section of his intestines died. The surgery was $1200-1500 and there was no way for us to afford it. I squalled for days. I suppose It's something all of us with pets will have to go through at one point or another, but that knowledge doesn't make it any easier. (((HUGS)))

This week was not a good week for me; I had a fibro flare and a visit from Aunt Flo. I swelled and gained 2#, so this hampered my progress. I was able to take it back off +1# more though. In the end I lost 3#, but I am only 1# lighter. I don't think I will make it to my new adjusted goal now :0/ HW 335 SW 257 (5/28/12) CW 242 GW 245 adjusted to 235 on 6/17/12 Wk 1 -6# (6/4/12) Wk 2 -3# (6/11/12) Wk 3 -5# (6/17/12: a day earily) Wk 4 -1# (6/25/12)

14Pk Of Syntrax Nectar Samples For $14 (Free Shipping)
BenisaMartim4 replied to BenisaMartim4's topic in Food and Nutrition
I got mine and have been using them. I can drink them and keep them down! They really don't taste that bad and I love the variety. I have mixed some of mine with water, juice, milk, almond milk and sweet tea (I know, bad girl). I will be ordering another box of them. $1 per shake is not that bad. -
My Burper Is Broken….
BenisaMartim4 replied to boots321's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, I get the throat gurgle. It's like a slow leak in a partially opened can of coke. Some times it makes a little sound like a dog yawning . Maybe no one will ever tell me "down girl" hehe -
My Burper Is Broken….
BenisaMartim4 replied to boots321's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
YES!! I was like you; only little lady-like burps, but now it is nada. I hear all these folks complaining about the belching, but I am in the complete opposite direction. It can be VERY uncomfortable. If I try to, my stomach contents will come back up. It's been this way since the beginning and now I am 4 months out. I'm just starting to accept it as my lot. -

BenisaMartim4 replied to futureskinnypants's topic in The Gals' Room
*OK, get ready for red faces* I am 92# down. I weigh 32# less than when I married. My husband and I notice a significant difference in the way everything feels on the lady parts (external). How can I say this...umm.. The lady went from having a big Angelina Jolie pucker to a smaller, more open grin... We can feel my pubic bone for the first time ever. The first time he noticed, it shocked him so bad he literally stopped to tell me; but trust me, I HAD already noticed. Penetration is much easier and deeper and the big O is O, O, Omazing. Without all that extra padding down there covering up the sensitive parts, its a LOT easier to create a spark. You know what I mean? So between the boost in my hormones and the great anatomical changes I have experienced, let's just say a boost in our sex life would be an understatement. Its kind of like eating now, ya just gotta do it every day  BTW, everything is nice and perky for me and I have had 4 kids; so if I were you, I would not be worrying about appearances. It will very likely not be a problem. -

Calories At Almost 6 Weeks Post Op
BenisaMartim4 replied to sexypeaches33's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 4. Months out and try to average 600 calories. And I absolutely cannot drink plain Water. Makes me dog sick. I have to put something in it. Sent from my iPad using VST -
I believe it is probably what you ate. That is going to be terrible to digest, even super moist. Do you normally eat 3 oz. of something that dense? 3 oz. of beef is not 3 oz. of soup. I am 4 months post op and cannot eat but 1-2 oz. of meat. I truly believe you over eat. If you did, it will sit like a rock for HOURS. IMO, I would hold off on hamburger for a little longer. It is very likely to make you uncomfortable. And maybe try less. That dense meat really sits hard in there. Hope you are feeling better soon. If you are still sick tomorrow, call the doc and tell them what happened. I'm pretty sure they will tell you the same. I have had a ton of eating issues, so trust me; I have been there too. It is all trial and error learning your sleeve, unfortunately even more for some of us. Best wishes!!

I have had abdominal surgery three different times and I have never had a drain. I had no problems. I would have totally freaked out if they had of given me a drain with my vsg. I hate it that when I have my panni and boob job they will probably make me have them. It will be such an inconvenience!

Anti-Inflammatory Drugs
BenisaMartim4 replied to Looking Ahead's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have degenerative joint and disk, fibromyalgia, OA, migraines and I'm 6 wks post-op from knee surgery. No one is going to give you any anti-inflammatory to take by mouth. They just will not take the risk of you bleeding. The orthopedic surgeon put a steroid shot in my knee last week and they will give you general steroid shots and dose-pack, but other than that not much. Have you ever tried Cymbalta? It is a antidepressant used to treat the pain and fatigue associated with fibromyalgia and OA. It works well. Or you could ask about neurontin or Lyrica. They do pretty good too. I hate that we have to choose, in many situations, to be in pain, but maybe as the weight comes off it will not be as bad on you. Mine has become much, much less severe with my loss. Sorry I don't have anything else, but maybe you could try some of things above if you have not. Best wishes!! -
I Am Terrified Of Losing My Hair!
BenisaMartim4 replied to TiredOfChubRub's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yeah, it may sound stupid, but the hair loss was the only thing about the surgery I was worried about. I am Apostolic and do not and have not cut my hair for about 27 years. It was beautiful and a joy to me. When I started, my hair was very thick and came all the way to just above my knees. Now I am right at 4 months post-op and have lost >6 inches in length and > half of the volume. It is very heart breaking to me, but I have to look at it this was; I could take the chance of losing part of my hair and live or keep it all and die. I am getting healthier now, so maybe it will grow faster than it did before. If not, I'll buy me some clip-on curls...lol. This was my hair pre-op (and my bootie 87# bigger!) -
I had esophageal spasms after my surgery. They were murder. I couldn't eat or drink anything. My doc treated with valium and hydrocodone. The really severe ones only lasted a few days, but even now at close to 4 months I can still have them. Make sure to take it REALLY slow and don't swallow too big of a drink or bite. It will trigger them, if that is what you are having. And take the ppi as long as you are having any pain. That means things are still raw and healing and you still need that extra protection. Hope you feel better soon
