  1. Still waiting. My nerves are on edge. They need to hurry up. I don't know any reason why they would, but it the deny me I'm gonna freak. If I have it done before the end of the year, I don't have to pay for it. I hope they wouldn't deny me just so I would have to pay them more. AGGGHHH!!!! I'm going nuts!

    Urinary catheter anyone?

I have had my gallbladder removed and given birth 4 times. I had a cath each time. Trust me, you want them to put it in after you are asleep and leave it in as long as possible. You don't want them taking it in and out. That is what causes the pain, tears, and infections. It is much better to have one after surgery anyway. The chances of you falling while on pain meds is lessened greatly if you are not having to get up to pee.
  4. I have been making home-made apple sauce tonight (golden apple) for my post-op mushy phase. I learned this technique when I had babies. food can be prepared (blenderized) and then placed into ice cube trays and frozen. This makes individual 1 oz. servings and cuts down on waste. After the food is frozen, label and date a freezer bag and place the food in it. Now you have a variety of food ready made to your specific taste. You can do this with anything that can be pureed; meat, fish, chicken, fruits and veggies, anything goes! I bought a Rival 1.5 cup food processor (under$10) to do my food. Not much clean up and no wasted food stuck to a large machine. BTW you can also make freezer pops (juice or pudding/yogurt) this way too. Just fill the trays with your desired product, cover with plastic wrap and then insert bamboo skewers (cut to size) and freeze. Voila! Now you have sleeve sized Snacks. Really hope this helps someone. It can be much easier to stick with a goal if you have a ready supply of necessities. I'm trying to plan. I know how easy it is to eat a Debbie cake when you are tired and don't feel like cooking. Happy pureeing y'all :0)
  5. Anthem didn't get my approval done on Friday, so we are still playing the waiting game. Technically they have up to 30 days, but it should have already been done. It is the medical department holding it up. The insurance end had it coded in two days. Yuck!

Anyone with experience with BCBSM PPO?

I have Anthem BCBS PPO Ohio ( I live in MS). We have to have an approval. I've been waiting since Oct.26. The suspence is eating me up. I know I meet all criteria, but we all know how the insurance companies can be. I think I would double check back with them to make sure that they told me right about not having to have an approval. I haven't seen anyone with BCBS that has said that yet. I hope it is right, that is awesome!

  8. Girl, you should have went and got checked out; not only is that symptoms of stroke, but also of seizure. It can also be symptoms of a specific type of migraine. I would take it easy and if it comes back, go to the ER. Call an ambulance if you have to. Hope you are well soon.

Awesome job man! I am so truly proud for you. It is an accomplishment that few people can boast of. You really did lose the baggage of the old you, all 170lbs. Of him :0) keep up the great work!
  15. What happens if you happen to start your period when it is time for your surgery? Do they make you reschedule or does something like that even matter? My surgery date is Dec. 6. I usually have my cycle sometime during the first part of the month. Has anyone had any experience with this? Or do y'all think this is a non-issue?
  16. BenisaMartim4

My apologies for drama papers are there

I just talked to Anthem and they said all mine lacked was RN review and it should also be done Friday. It sounds like we are on a roll. Come on Dec 6 :0)

    1yr Today I Change Me!!!

Hey looking good Joe. Great job on the weight loss and the fishin'! Wow. I love to fish, but unfortunately never had the opportunity to catch anything like that. Looks like a blast. I'd probably pee my pants if I caught a big ol' bass, let alone something like that...lol. Maybe when I get healthier, we will we able to go more places. It's good that I like fishing, because with a husband and four sons, I'm sure there will be much of it in the future. :0)

Low cal/ no cal sports drinks

I have read in many places that when a person is in the hospital, after surgery they are served Gatorade as a way to stay hydrated (especially if vomiting is present). Upon returning home, that person is told to discontinue the use of Gatorade because of the calorie and sugar content. Well, I have wonderful news for those that have not noticed; Gatorade now has a low cal version called G2 and Poweraide has a no cal version called Zero. Now we have better options for those bouts of nausea and vomiting post-op (or God forbid, the stomach flu) no cal/ low cal! The Zero is also an excellent source of hydration after workout or on hot summer days as it supplies electrolytes and some essential nutrient factors absent of sugar or calories. It is similar to drinking Crystal Lite, but better when the body has been depleted. So best of luck on your weight loss journey and alway keep you eyes open for new options to liven up your trip :0)
  19. I had severe diaphoresis (bed soaking night sweats) after the births of each of my children. I understand that this can be caused by anesthesia (epidural or general) and also changing in the hormones, which is caused by a sudden shift in the fluid balance of the body (such as that caused by a sudden weight loss). After the birth of my first child, I weighed 30lbs. MORE the day after he was born than on the day of his birth (a total gain of about 45lbs. Overnight.) because of a slight case of toxemia. They didn't give me anything for it because I was nursing. I sweated it off over the next two weeks a gallon at the time. It was amazing. You could almost hear me slosh when I walked. I hope I never sweat like that again!

    Counting down the days =)

Don't feel guilty. You spent the money to have a better quality and quantity of life. You wouldn't feel bad about paying for open heart surgery. This surgery should save you the money on that one :0)
  24. I just talked to Anthem and they said my doctor's office eneceated the approval process on Oct. 26. He said they usually tell people to give them 15-30 days to finish, but that mine was already in coding and it should be finished this week! He said that they had my surgery date set for Dec. 6, so it looked like everything was fine. I'm getting really excited. I hope it all comes through good :0)
