My NUT says 60ozs., but I have never had that much. I usually get 36-48ozs. I have up to 600 cals. a day. I have to eat six times to get in that much. I don't go nuts over it. I didn't drink 60oz. before my surgery. I have lost 67# already, so I can't see any problem there. If I lost any faster I would just waste away.

Almost 3 Months Out--No Bra Size Change? Is That Weird?
BenisaMartim4 replied to Sleeved&Hopeful's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My band size has gone from a 46 to a 42, but my cups are still an F. They just don't look as firm as before though. I think maybe I should of had a bigger cup before and now they fit right. -
I also had these. My doc said they were esophageal spasms also. I woke up from my surgery screaming "I'm having a heart attack." He knew what it was right away. They gave me dilaudid and Valium. He said the pain mimics a heart attack and is just as bad. Mine was further exasperated by some of my pre-op meds. The Valium is to stop the spasms and the dilaudid to calm you down until it does. You def need to check in with your doc though, because even though it is most likely this, it could also be your gallbladder or heart too. Best wishes!

Pizza, Popcorn, Brownies
BenisaMartim4 replied to ariesgirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm two months out and can eat any of it...but ONLY a bite. I still can't hold anything. The brownie would probable make me yack though. I cannot eat anything rich or sweet any more (not that I need to anyway). I used to really like chocolate, but now it just doesn't taste right and makes me nauseous almost immediately. The popcorn I chew up, get the soft and then spit out the hulls. The pizza is very filling. I had a 1/4 of a slice last night. -
Insurance Denial For Gaining Weight?
BenisaMartim4 replied to NisaletOAM's topic in Insurance & Financing
I have BCBS and I had to have weight management, not weight loss. I pretty much just had to go get weighed for 3months. I believe they wanted to see a maintenance, not a drastic upward trend. I believe they use this to judge your seriousness and preparedness to the drastic changes facing you post-op. -
Mississippi Gastric Sleevers?
BenisaMartim4 replied to ravenjeh's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Like I said, it is always the ins. fault when you talk to the Dr. office and the Dr. fault when you talk to the ins. Everyone want to pass the buck to someone else. My husband works at the new Toyota plant in Blue Springs. I was the first bariatric case Tupelo had had from there. They blamed all the trouble on trying to learn the ins and outs of the new company/ins. It was an utter nightmare. All I have to say is, you better know your ins. benefits like the back of your hand. Have copies of it, names and numbers of people you speak with at the ins., dates that you make calls and submit papers. I can't tell you how many times I had to have the ins. company call the Dr. office and say, "YES we do cover that" or "NO we do not require that." I had a round about the center of excellence, weight management visits, deductible. I was put on a hold status with the ins. because of unreceived/lost paper work. Then after I got all of that fixed (I did ALL of the leg work MYSELF) and resubmitted, I still was denied. After deeper inspection, I found it was because there were still some papers missing. I ended up submitting documents from; A former PCP, current PCP, chiropractor, cardiology, GI, bariatric and phycologist before they had everything that they wanted. I went door to door and talked to each one of them and collected the info myself. When you give it to the ins. coordinator, make them make copies. Keep everything! You may just need them again if they end up MIA like mine did. And keep everything showing where you have paid anything. I had to pay the bariatric clinic my $750 out of pocket up front before they would schedule my surgery. That is my max out of pocket. The thing about that is, they took my money, but didn't yet have a claim to file. So other claims were coming through my insurance and being only paid in part. When I told the ins. What was going on, they said they had no right to that money until the day of the surgery. I had to have the ins. Call and demand a refund to pay the other bills that came through first. The bariatric clinic was going to be paid 100% because of the order their claim was filed in. It has just been an utter nightmare and I'm still not sure it is completely over. You just have to be prepared to kick and scream and get down right mean if you have to. This is your health. To all of them, you are just another face and another dollar. -
Awe Hon. I am so sorry. Which one did you lose?

Mississippi Gastric Sleevers?

Good luck on yours. Between the girl at the doc's office bumbling and the insurance bumbling, my 1-2 week approval process turned into 16 weeks. That was after my 3 months of supervised visits. If I had not of rode them all like horses, it probably would of never happened. And of course it was ALWAYS someone else's fault. I never got a straight answer from her or the insurance. And to top it all off, I got $25,000 in bills after it was all finished. The insurance refused to pay them, when I had the approval letter. They were demanding payment in full because they only operate with an approval letter. I had to get the insurance on the line, go through three departments and cop an attitude to get it put right. That took two weeks...argh! -
I could say, tell them that you had your gallbladder out, but since I don't believe in lying, I'm going with....wear a one piece and save yourself the problem. You can find some very pretty ones. Sent from my iPhone using VST

Girl, I'm about the same time out as you and I gag all the time. It's kind of like sliming. It is most common in the morning or if I stay up too late. Mine is not post-nasal, but the feeling it gives is kinda of similar (sick stomach.) I have bad nerves and have had it happen for years with anxiety and panic attacks, but I can't associate this with anything. At least I don't throw up every time now. Sent from my iPhone using VST

Thinking I Am Just To Nervous To Go Through With The Surgery :(
BenisaMartim4 replied to Izzysnanny's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Look at it this way: you have a 1/2 to 1% chance of a "what if" with the surgery. You have almost a 100% chance of complications associated with your being obese. The cards are completely stacked against you right now. You will never be completely happy and healthy the way you are. You have been given an opportunity to take the reins of your health and take it in the direction you want it to go. If you let it get away, you will probably regret it the rest of your life. It's ok (and normal) to be nervous; but don't let an irrational fear of the unknown prevent you from achieving your dreams. You actually have a 3% chance in the US of dying while giving birth. Then you have about another 5% chance of something being wrong with your baby. I bet those statistics wouldn't stop you if you wanted a child, would they. If I had a 99% chance of winning the lottery, I would take it. I won mine 2/14/12 when I was sleeved. Sent from my iPhone using VST -
You go! So happy for you. I do know exactly how you feel. I put on my three sizes smaller clothes and stand in front of the mirror and just stare. I just can't believe that I am changing so fast. It really is amazing. Sent from my iPhone using VST

I agree with gman. Also, it could be the extra estrogen too. A lot of that is dumped into the body (of both males and females) as fat melts. It's kind of like going through puberty all over again... Sweaty, zitty, and umm, excuse the expression, horny. Yep, that kinda covers it. Sent from my iPhone using VST
