Question For The Ladies
BenisaMartim4 replied to CJinMichigan's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I get that feeling often, without bending over. I have had four babies so I know it well. It is very off putting when it happens! Feels like one turning a flip to me. I will just gasp. I have no idea what it is though. Sent from my iPad using VST -
I'm 3 months out today and I still don't "exercise". I take care of my house and kids the best that I can. I still stay weak and dizzy all of the time. My calorie intake is still around 600. I just cannot eat. I hope it gets better soon. Sent from my iPad using VST

What Foods Did You Like Before But Now You Dont?
BenisaMartim4 replied to kenbr14's topic in Food and Nutrition
For sure! I don't like anything any more. Nothing is enjoyable. I just eat a little because I have to. I hope that I get to where I can enjoy something one of these days again. Sent from my iPad using VST -

Hot Sauce Ingredient Reduces 'beer Belly' Fat As A Weight-Loss Surgery Alternative
BenisaMartim4 replied to ouroborous's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yes, I read it. I was letting everyone know how bad just the pills were. I can't imagine letting them use it to 'burn up' a major nerve in my body. I'd be afraid that there might be one of those freak side effects that happens to .01% of people and it would be MEE. You know like shingles, but instead of being burned up by chicken pox it would be like hot peppers in your veins for the rest of your life. I'd say, " hey guys, if burning the vagus nerve works, just use the ol' laser on me." LOL Then again, if it is the alteration of the vagus nerve that makes me freeze to death all the time (as some have suggested), maybe that heat would be a good thing for me -
Hot Sauce Ingredient Reduces 'beer Belly' Fat As A Weight-Loss Surgery Alternative
BenisaMartim4 replied to ouroborous's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had rather be shot in the head than to ever take another capsaicin pill. I tried it before my surgery. Those things are like hell in a bottle! I took ONE and within 5 minutes the burning started. I was on blistering, scorching fire for two days. It didn't matter what I did it would not stop. So let me tell you, unless you are a masochist that likes to swallow branding irons and poop lava, STAY AWAY FROM INTERNAL CAPSAICIN! -
Forget the vities! It is better not to have anything in there than to take it and puke it back up. The coming back up is not good on the sleeve, so you want to do it as little as possible. Hope you are feeling better soon. Then you can go back to being a Flintstone's kid

I have used a straw from the very beginning and have never had any problems from it. As a matter of fact, it is the only way that I can even come close to getting my fluids in.

You should be able to hold the meds with no problem. It is only 1-2 teaspoons. If the taste gags you, have a cup of Water ready to swish and spit right after you take it. Sent from my iPad using VST

I have lost 73# in 3 months, so the complete aversion must be working for us. We are way ahead of the curve in terms of weight loss. My doc was just amazed. He says that a bariatric pt. can only expect to lose 50% of their excess body wt..ever. I have already lost that. He was jumping up and down with excitement at my last appointment. I really do hope I can get a little used to food again though. At least not gag every time I see or smell it.

Yeah, people just misquote what they are trying to say. It's a density factor. We learned that way back in chemistry in high school. There is dry weight, Fluid weight, space and mass; so many factors. If you asked a person, " which will fall faster if dropped off of a building; a marble or a feather?" the majority of people will say the marble. Truth is (according to physics) they fall at the same rate. Gravity pulls on a mass at the same rate whether it be a feather or a marble. So why does the marble get there first? Density and no air resistance. If there were no air they would hit the ground at the same time. Every substance has a nuclear weight. The higher the nuclear weight the denser the substance. All pounds are created equal, but fluid ounces or packaged ounces are not. One gallon of Water weighs about 7# where as 2 fl oz. of liquid mercury weighs around 2#. So when someone says, "Muscle weighs more than fat" it is semantics. Are we talking pound for pound or volume for volume? I out weigh my mother-in-law 80 pounds and we wear the same size clothes now. So my weight has to be denser than hers. When I was going to curves years ago, the owner told me when she started she was 160 and a 16. Now she is 160 and an 8. She traded her volume hogging fat pounds for the denser more attractive muscle pounds. This is why we shouldn't get fixated with the number on the scale, but watch the one on the tape measure. #1 science nerd signing off here Sent from my iPhone using VST

The battle I have is not keeping myself from eating, but making myself eat. Every bite that I do get in is force fed. I do not like food at all now. I like the idea of food, but find it almost impossible to enjoy anything any more. When my husband asks where I want to eat, I tell him it doesn't make a hill of Beans worth a difference. I'm only going to be able to take two bites so I don't care. We used to eat at nice restaurants, but now I don't really want to go because it is a waste of money. I told him next time, I was not even going to order. In my case insted of saying, "you will eat much less" it would have been more accurate for my doc to say, "you will basically never eat again."
