I had thought about bariatric surgery for several years, but did not have any insurance. In 2011 my husband got a job with Toyota Mississippi and I started to seriously look into it. When I made my first appointment with Dr. Pinson; I was 33, weighted 335#, was on something like 21 meds and had been in crippling pain from joint and spine problems and fibromyalgia for several years. I was on a cane most of the time, a rolling chair much of the time and in the bed very often. It took me about 7 months to get everything worked out with the insurance and finally have my surgery. As of today (5-14-12) I am 3 months post-surgery. I am off all of the meds and have been from day one. I have lost 73# so far and am down from a 26/28 to an 18/20. I no longer us a walker or cane and I have not been bed bound since my surgery. I had not had any pain (fibromyalgia) until four days ago. Then, it only lasted 2 days and was gone. I am now much more able to take care of my kids and house. My marriage relationship is MUCH better and I actually have hope for the future. I don't know how much longer I would have made it the other way. I believe the sleeve has saved my life.
