MelB1 replied to 100%Sleeved's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm so glad to see how great everyone is doing. My surgery was 11/4 and currently I have lost 55 lbs. I feel great. Only 46 more to go!! I'm ready for nice weather so I can get outside and walk, I love my new treadmill but I am ready for fresh air!! Again, its great to see how everyone else is doing and it seems like we are all in a similar range for loss which is very encouraging. Best of luck to everyone!! -
November Sleevers 2011 Roll Call Shoutouts

Hi everyone-I was sleeved 11/4 and have lost 30#. My recovery has been textbook, thank god. I am eating a full regular diet of proteins and produce. Protein shakes are so so, Im trying to be good about them but sometimes they just taste gross. I can drink liquids no problem and about 4 oz of yogurt, soup, etc. But only a couple of bites at a meal of cheese, chicken or salmon. It will come with time. I hit a slight stall for 5 days when I traveled, but have dropped 4 in the week since I got home. My intake is 600-800 cal a day and 65g protein ideally. I feel like I'm doing fairly well, no exercise yet to speak of. I'm buying myself a new treadmill for Christmas, I hate the cold and in my small town or within 30 miles-no gym . So waiting for day after Christmas sale for my new machine, I can't wait!! I wish everyone best of luck and a healthier 2012. -
I know all surgeons are different as far as their post op reccomendations, but I used gasx strips from day 2 on. They help alot, fortunately I did not have any of the shoulder pain. My surgeon also allowed me to swallow meds upon discharge as long as they were smaller than an m&m, I also could only take one every 1/2 hour, so they had to be spaced out. Good luck!

If you continue to have difficulty with the meds you might see if your primary care physician will prescribe liquid oral antibiotics, I had a liquid z pack when I came home. Once a day for three days covered me for 10 days, it was unpleasant tasting but I kept it down without any problem. Good luck.

I pureed light progresso soups. It does give you more consistency and flavor, and it fills you up faster. I also found applesauce in little squeezable pouches that are about 3 ounces, they are perfect to throw in your purse!

Well I think everyone on here has had their surgeries! Congrats to all. I'm 26 days post op from Dr. Alvarez and feel great except for a slight twinge now and then which is normal muscle healing at one of my incision sites. I'm down 22 lbs from surgery day so I'm ecstatic. My clothes already feel different. I hope eveyone had good experiences and a speedy recovery! Best Wishes.

This is my first post. I have finally confirmed all of my arrangements and will be heading to see Dr. Alvarez for my surgery on November 4th. Is anyone else going to be there on that date? How did everyone else determine what surgeon they were going to use? I feel like I'm not quite educated as much as I want to be for the post op period.

My appointment is on 11/4. If you don't mind me asking, how did you decide on Dr. Alvarez?
