Seagulls, Cats And No Holes Left...
Joyce Real replied to cantbetoothinortoorich's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am still laughing, no truer description have I heard! -
That is the story of my life! lol I do really good and then something comes along that I just can not pass up. At Thanksgiving I did really well and lost weight (never before did that happen) But Christmas chocolate,,,, sigh, you know how that goes, it is so hard to pass up, and that goes down easy. lol Forgive yourself and move on, that's all we can do.

I keep up with the forums a lot on facebook! My name is Joyce Real. look me up if you would like!!

That's more like it. My second fill helped a lot. It is really making me follow the rules. No fill today. Doc says it is good how it is. This fill has really made me feel restriction and I am finally understanding full sometimes too much.
-
Thank you!!
-
I had the same problem, and it was caused by my pain meds, but once I was off them, nature took over.
-
I did not really feel much of anything till my second fill. Now I feel it. Sounds like you are doing wonderful!!

October Bandsters!!!
Joyce Real replied to "AmyRose"'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I too am an October bandster, I am only down 22 pounds, but that is 22 pounds. I am not going to be bummed out because a loss is a loss. I go for my 3rd fill tomorrow. If he thinks I need one not sure yet. Good luck all!! -
I am Joyce Real. I came here looking for answers, I don't seem to be able to find anywhere else. I am 5 days post op and doing ok. I still have quite a bit of pain, and the staples are annoying as can be. I feel my doctor is rushing me onto solid foods, he has already suggested I move from liquids right into trying chicken and baked potatoes. He even mentioned drinking soda, with my burp pain there is no way I want soda. But he is just the surgeon. So I do not expect him to give me all the answers. Everyone is pushing me to walk. I know it is important to get up and move but I can hardly drag myself out of bed. I am not taking the pain meds, because they make me into a zombie, and I would move even less. Today I am going to get on the treadmill and do as much as I can. I sound so negative, and that is not me, I am just recovering. I will get better and be more positive. Thanks for letting me put it out there.

Well it has been a couple months now, I am down 22 pounds, not a big loss, but still a loss right? I am learning to use this band and I feel great. Thank you all for your posts. It helped me feel much less alone! DH is always there and has been a great source of comfort. He loves to hug me and tell me how different I feel lol. I am so happy I had the surgery, that feeling came when the pain left lol!!

I have another appointment with my doctor, on the 14th, I thought I would not need another fill, I was feeling good restriction for about 2 weeks. But now I am reconsidering, I am able to eat more, I am trying not to. I was steadily losing pounds, but now I put one back on. I know about weight fluctuation, but gaining is not an option for me. lol (I am self pay) I am really not complaining, I have lost 22 pounds in 8 weeks and that is not a bad thing. But I think you have to give the band time to get comfortable with the fill before you can decide if you are in the green zone for sure. Yes I do believe I need another fill. I am only at 3 CC and I believe I have a 10 CC band.

Post Lap Band Surgery Op Pain

I think that is normal, because I felt that way too. Give yourself a couple of weeks to return to your normal happy self. It just gets better!! -
Who Are You Telling About Your Lap Band Surgery?
Joyce Real replied to roxeyk's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am so proud of my band that I tell anyone and everyone. That makes it easier, no one tries to push food off on you. At work we had a Christmas dinner, and they were especially attentive not to give me more than I wanted. Folks are more understanding than even I thought they would be, especially those who know how hard I tried to diet and suffer from failure every time. A lot of people are curious, but if they think I am taking an easy way out, I go out to lunch with them and they see what I eat as apposed to what they eat and realize it is still hard, I just have help, and it is working!! Day 2 And Pain Is Crazy
Joyce Real replied to hollykan's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

How Does Emptying My Lap Band Help With Pouch Dilation?
Joyce Real replied to Sue Magoo's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
my doctor told me that after about 18 months, your sensitivity to the band goes away and you should unfill for a month, then gradually start filling again. He says it will fill like it did in the beginning. I am only 2 months post op, but he said that is why some people start gaining a couple of years after surgery. -
Why Are You Choosing The Lap Band And Not The Gastric Sleeve
Joyce Real replied to oliversmomma's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am a self pay and I chose the band because it was cheaper. Plus I was scared of the more invasive surgeries. -
What About Lap Band Liquid Diet For People Lactose Intolerant Or Allergic To Dairy And Soy?
Joyce Real replied to bev712's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I too am lactose intolerant. I take a daily lactose pill. It lets me have dairy. Plus I buy the lactose free milk to mix stuff with. -
Suddenly I Can Eat Anything? After 4 months with the Lap Band, weird!!
Joyce Real replied to Rebeka McLean's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That happens to me after a while after every fill. From what I can gather, they say that it is because you have fat around your stomach and when you lose some of that the band gets less tight. Plus, with me I swell each time I get a fill and after it goes down it is less tight too. I am always afraid of a slip too but it sounds normal to me. I am on my second fill too, so I am by no means an expert! -

How Long Was Your Lap Band Surgery Hospital Stay?
Joyce Real replied to Lanie M's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was in for two days, I had a hernia repaired during the surgery, so I had a lot of pain, then the next day after surgery my brother died, and I was super stressed. My blood sugar went through the roof. I was just not ready to go home. So I stayed the extra day. I should have been able to go home after 23 hours but it just did not work out that way. -
Lapband First Week Advice !!!!
Joyce Real replied to ChristinaH_SD's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Dont forget sugar free popsicles! They are great for the liquid stage. Plus some say they help bring down the swelling??? Good luck. My doc did not give me a ton of information but there are some great videos on www.lapband.com. -
I do wish you luck, glad you have friends that have been through what you are about to. It is a great tool.

I was banded on October 14, 2011. I am down 20 pounds. I was not given a bunch of rules, of what to eat or not eat, but my band is teaching me more than reading the rules has. I have had two fills and am at 3 CC in my band. I feel pretty good restriction. My doctor has moved me through the steps faster than most I have read on here. But so far so good. I am well and happy. I am going to try and post pics 1 per month of my progress. I have lost one clothing size. So I can finally wear the clothes I bought last diet I tried. I have been buying the next size down at yard sales. When I hit goal, I will buy a whole new wardrobe, but until then I am hitting the second hand stores and yard sales. I love reading the blogs here and the forums. I am thankful to have a site to teach me the in's and out's. Do any of you belong to a support group? We have one near my home and I am thinking about joining.

A Tiny Thanksgiving Dilemma
Joyce Real replied to legnarevocrednu's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Don't know about anyone else but 4 days after my surgery I did not feel up to visiting or going out! You need to take care of yourself and heal. But I would not plan an outting until you see how you feel afterwards. Happy ThanksGiving.
