Weight Fluctuations Pre Op?
swedishfish1020 replied to Loristi's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Which Kaiser are you at? Kaiser requires you to have the BMI of 40 documented in your chart within one year. So if you've lost weight but six months ago you qualified and now you weight less, Kaiser looks at your highest weight in the year. -

Losing pounds but not sizes
swedishfish1020 replied to Jaguilar's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I haven't had my surgery yet but from my past weight loss history, I lose weight in the order I gained it. I'm heavier on the bottom half. Thats the first place the weight goes then works its weight up. Then when I lose it, I have to lose all the weight on top then finally it will start to work its way off the bottom half. I think it has to do the way your body is shaped. -
Trying to master 64 oz of Water pre op. I could barely master 16.9 oz a week ago. Gradually getting there but hoping that if I start infusing my water with citrus, cucumber and mint, I can continue post op. Any thoughts?

Infused water?
swedishfish1020 replied to swedishfish1020's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Me too! On Pinterest they have the recipe with lemons, oranges and mint. I just wasn't sure if any of those things would be bothersome on the stomach after surgery. -

I tried a little crystal light in my water. Think just adding color made it more appealing. -

I've seen close friends have great success with the gastric sleeve surgery. I can't wait to start this new adventure. My husband is totally on board and is excited we can both change the way we eat and exercise as a family. I'll be having the surgery at Kaiser South Sac pending my approval. So far here is my timeline: 2012: Attended information class on weight loss surgery Kaiser Roseville but did not qualify because my BMI 35 with no comorbidity. Severe back issues did not qualify me in Spring 2013 2014: March 10 Kaiser Weight Loss Information class Roseville March 12 251lb. Saw GP for referral. 41 BMI March 14 Call from Bariatrics South Sac to schedule 2 hour orientation class. March 25 237.5 2 Hour Orientation Class March 26 Psychology Appt: I thought I would see the surgeon first for approval but wondering if my history of depression is requiring me to get clearance from the psychiatry dept. first. April 14 One required support group Next up: Meet with surgeon Meet with nutritionist Meet my pre surgery goal weight whatever that will be I've actually lost 14 lbs in two weeks from cutting out sugar, soda and extra help from a terrible cold. I hope I qualify. I'm so ready for this tool to help me succeed. -

My psychology appt went well. She was a little shocked I saw her before my surgeon consult so she got me a appt right after. Love my surgeon. He said I only have to lose 1.6 lbs to lose and I'm ready. Nutrition class on 4/10 and Support class 4/19 then I get to schedule my surgery. Dr. Grinberg did say I need to have a endoscope to make sure I don't have anything wrong since I have occasion heart burn. So I think I'm looking at maybe May. -

Orientation yesterday, Psych appt today and I even got to see the surgeon for my consult today and he approved me. Even better news is I'm only 1.8 lbs away from my pre surgery goal. 4/10 Nutrition class and 4/19 Support class then I call and schedule my surgery. WOW! I'm a little shocked. -

That's not to bad. I got a nice jump start from the flu which was no fun but shrunk my stomach and helped lower my portions. -

I think the 24 weeks that I have to do is excessive, but I do think your process is extremely fast. I don't think I would be ready yet. Nor would I feel prepared.... I thought Kaiser was much more standardized than this, but I'm finding the each area has a very different program for this. I think there should be a happy medium :-) I thought the 12 weeks sounded reasonable. How much do you have to lose before surgery? -

Kaiser seems so much quicker than other programs. I want it to go quick but I need to be prepared mentally and physically. Not sure I'm there yet. -

That's awesome. I used to but to many changes to my employer plan. But max out of pocket is $2200 so I guess it could be worse. -
