When Did The Scale Become The End All Be All?
yecats commented on tmorgan813's blog entry in A funny thing happend while I was loosing weight
...lol...had to laugh, did you mean Richard Simmons? Gene Simmons is with KISS. I get your point, a very good one at that. The scale has a definite hold over me. -
How To See Myself As What I've Never Been?
yecats replied to MoogleQueen's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Congrats! You are doing wonderful. I also could never imagine myself thin. I am not by no means now but I am smaller now than I have been in 10 years. I still have 50 lbs to go. Everyday someone is mentioning or saying something about my weight loss. It really is so strange to me. I really do not know how to react. I recall a few weeks ago that someone said "wow, you look great" and I looked behind me to see who they were speaking to. I can not imagine being a normal weight. I still have 50 lbs to lose and by no means am thin. I am only 5'3 so even with 50 more off of me I could still use to lose a few more. You will adjust, enjoy the ride. It is awesome. I still can't imagine being with out a weight problem.. Sometimes I try the same clothes on day after day because I can not believe I really fit in them. Like I am going to get up and wake up from this fantastic dream ride I have been on. I believe emotionally I will have to experience for a long time b/c I have been big my entire life. It is unreal to me. I am on cloud nine and so will you also. It only gets better. The more I lose the more excited and motivated I get. Best to you . Sorry I went on and on, your topic really hit home with me. -
Wow, that is awesome. You should be very proud of yourself!!!!!! I will do a happy dance for you also!!!!! Congrats!!!! Gotta love that SLEEVE!

I use real honey and 1/2 n1/2 in my coffee. I am working on this one but only drink maybe a cup and a half daily. I use very small amounts of real butter. I love mayo but avoid it at all costs for it is like chocolate to me. I do eat a lot of fat free or lowfat preferrable but there are somethings I just don't bend on. I hate any kind of artificial sweetner , except for crystal lite lemon flavored decaf iced tea.

This surgery will change your life! I love the fact that you do not get reorganize parts of your body just remove most of your stomach. Everyones experience is different but I will say this... over all I truly beleive that whatever pain (which varies with everyone) you might experience is minimal compared to living obese the rest of your life. I am half way to my goal and am loving life already, 10 weeks out. If you prepare yourself mentally and then really try before surgery to become mofe active it will help your body to prepare for recovery. Just drinking lots of Water and walking more could help tremedously. I am telling you lady, if you beleive it is right for you AND it is a personnal choice, then just do it!!! Don't weigh out the what ifs. The one thing you might regret is that you hadn't done it sooner!!!!

Something else I noticed with your original post was that the message that you are sending to your self is self defeating. Even if you are not losing and you are not doing just what you are suppose to always tell yourself that YOU CAN DO THIS! YOU WILL FINISH THIS TO GOAL! YOU ARE NOT A QUITER BUT AN ACHIEVER! When you say things to yourself like you are a failure you are telling yourself that you are giving up. Your reaching out to others, that isn't someone that sounds like they want to give up. Don't tell yourself you are. You are amazing. I admire you for losing that much weight. I pray I get that far with my weight lose. Best wishes to you . I'll keep you and your sleeve (lol) in my prayers! One day you will look back and be tickled you did not give in.

My Wife's Cousin Just Died Because Complications With The Vsg

My heart goes out to you and yours! -
It will get better, it seems like you are not moving forward but you are. I am really sorry you are feeling that bad and that you have to deal with so much crap at home. I am saying a prayer for you right now. 22 lbs is nothing to complain about. Do you realize that is over 5lbs a week! That is wonderful. Don't be hard on yourself. The best thing you can do is take steps at making your self happier physically and emotionally, small baby steps. You had the surgery, you took the big step now just emplement changes to enhance your outcome; exercise, nuturing you and yours, and staying positive. Wish you the best !

Concerns For A Newbie...
yecats replied to caseydoodle's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wonder, when were you sleeved. That is something I hate to admit that I have an issue with also. I do not worry about stretching my sleeve for I can not eat a whole bunch but I eat normal bites and am not real slow about eating, but when I have had enough, I have had enough. I do not like the feeling of being overfull so I tend to graze eat every two or three hours. Nothing is consumed in tiny bits that last 30 mins. I feel good and have no issues...... well except for contstipation sometimes but I think that has to do with so much protien. Sorry if to my info. -
I beleive everyone is different. I am 10 weeks out from being sleeved and I can gulp water and other things pretty quckly.

I would of never dreamed in a lifetime that I would ever have a regular bath towel wrap around me again. I also put on an old teeshirt to paint in, after putting it on I realized it was one of my husband's and it was actually big on me, something I would never of fit in before presleeve and I would of been embarrassed to even try. One more, the best one to me is I walked , at a minimum of 21 miles this week, jogged some of it also. It was at least 3 miles a day. There was a time when the furthest I walked (other than at work) was from the couch to the frig. ME, YEAH ME. I CAN NOT BELIEVE THAT.... and I actually enjoyed it!!! You know I do not see myself differently. Others say things to me but it still is strange like....... are they talking to me? I am far from normal weight for my height but I can say that I can not even imagine how I will feel when I get closer to goal for as of right now.. I am over the moon. Gotta love that sleeve!

Okay I hate to admit this but I started drinking coffee again. Just a cup, maybe a cup and a half a morning. I am 9 weeks out from being sleeved. How I started back is I thought it would help stimulate a BM for me (sorry for the TMI) which was desparately needed. It worked but then came back the addiction. Anyway, my problem has been that I always enjoyed half/half in my coffee with a little honey. Well.... I have tried to drink fat free half/half but can not stand it. Anyone have any ideas. Is there any flavor creams that are not full of sugar and fats. I also have tried those fake sweeteners like stevia, sweet n low, ect. The after taste is dreadful to me, maybe not a flavored creamer but as a sugar substitute. Any suggestions or am I going to have to quit it all over again. I so love my one cup a day. I do not feel like it is really that bad and I am not big on sweets at all but I really want to maximize my potential to lose rather than hinder it with this morning fix. Thank you. Any replies appreciated!

Tony, I also went with Dr. Kelly . He was wonderful! Back then, in Feb, Trish was my coordinator, everyone was wonderful. I loved the hotel and hospital. I have had no medical issues what so ever since surgery and was very pleased with Dr. Kelly!

One Week Post Op....fuzzy Tongue?
yecats replied to kimmr's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 2 months out from being sleeved. The first couple of weeks I felt like I had something at the back of my throat. It was very irratating if I thought about it to much. I also would wake up and feel like I had hair in my throat. It was a weird sensation more than a feeling. It annoyed me so bad. It went away after a few weeks, I actaully forgot all about it and can't recall when it stopped. I just recall looking in the back of my throat and almost gagging trying to brush back there with my toothbrush. My tongue was never white though. -
Do You Ever Feel Like Telling Fat People To Get Surgery?
yecats replied to crosswind's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have thought this several times. I have stopped myself. I decided not even to share with my own family out of there reaction so I sure would not to offend anyone one else or get a reaction I wouldn't like. The way I found out about the Sleeve is I am a server at a restaurant and a guest shared her experience when she did not want a drink with her meal. I am not a pushy person, she just wanted to share her experience. I went home, looked into it, found this site and was hooked. 5 months later went to MX and the rest is history. That lady has know idea she changed someones life.... mine. Maybe one day I will get my nerve up and help make a difference in someone elses life. -
Sleeve Capacity At Eight Weeks Seems More Than It Should Be
yecats replied to Dooter's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Dooters, I am right there with you. I was sleeved Feb4th. I have wondered the same thing for I feel I can consume a lot more than others. Actually I have noticed that when I do not add the things like mayo and such I can not eat as much. I lost a lot of mine in the beginning also but we are still losing. ( I update my ticker in a few days, monthly). It will not happen overnight. I am so glad you posted this for now I do not feel so all alone. See... we all just might not be in the same boat after all but the wake of the same ocean. Continue to do what you are doing. Your sleeve is fine and so is mine. Keep working it!!!!!! -
I'm am 8 weeks out from being sleeved. I have noticed this week that I have more restriction eating the same foods I have been. It is strangE I almost worried because I have been one of those fortunate ones that have had no issues with getting sick, slimming or any bad side effects but I was concerned because I wondered, if I am able to get in all my protein and all my fluids at a week out, what will I be able to consume further out? Welll, I really have noticed I get full quicker and on less mpw. that is strange how that works. Has anyone else experienced this? I am so thankful and really love my sleeve!!!! I live by PROTEIN FIRST!!!!! Sip, sip , sip all day.
