I normally eat on the go rather than pack a lunch so I rarely get a chance to add in a scoop of benefiber to my meal. So on that note, I have only had two bowl movements since surgery. One two weeks after because I took some Milk of Magnesia and one late last week on my own. I don't feel constipated, but I would like to see my body release a bit more often. Is this normal? Will it improve when I move to the soft food stage?

Be careful to spot test. I found that I was allergic to a few of the scar removal products. -

Afro_Cyster replied to ngory07's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm a month out and struggling with mushies. I'm trying to up my calories because I'm only managing about 400 max. So, hearing that it's possible to eat more is incouraging. -
Very Very Cool. Wonderful news about your skin also. I'm in the process of ramping up my workouts.

Positive Feedback

Maybe you should talk about the negatives more. We may be able to give you more insight so that you won't be as fearfull. -
Also, weigh yourself in the morning as soon as you get out of the bed. It's one of the ways I can tell my lowest weight before fluids come into play.

My doc said no. It brings too much air into your stomach. -
Supposed To Start Pureed Foods. It Just Sounds Gross! Any Suggestions?
Afro_Cyster replied to Nance's topic in Food and Nutrition
I enjoy refried beans, red beans (with no rice), scrambled eggs, pureed tuna salad, pureed chicken salad, etc. With the pureed salads, it tastes the same, just spread a bit thinner. -
Surgery In Mexico---questions, Stories, Answers And All The Rest
Afro_Cyster replied to andersonlj's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Kathy, I too had surgery in MX, albeit by another doctor, my stay was similar in nature to Larry's. In terms of aftercare, I get bi-weekly check-ins from my patient coordinator and I have direct access to my gastric doctor if I need it. Also, before I left for MX, I made sure to tell my primary of my intentions ( and she was very supportive). I have an upcoming appointment with her to do a physical and several panels. -
2 Weeks Without Any Weight Loss
Afro_Cyster replied to mariemadeline's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think that you are doing great. According to your ticker, I'm assuming that your BMI is lower than most of ours. Just make sure that you are following your doctor's instructions and you'll be fine. Sometimes patience is the key. -
I just entered my pureed stage. Yesterday, I was allowed to eat pureed tuna and any kind of egg. So of course I made a pureed tuna salad with tuna, eggs, light mayo, mustard, and black pepper. Later that evening I ate two tablespoons of pureed refried Beans. I got incredibly full so I stopped. No upchucking, the food didn't get stuck in my throat, NOTHING. Just this uncomfortable fullness. Great right? Wrong.....it didn't let up until this afternoon. So I started again with the tuna. After three spoonfuls, I'm full again. Why is it taking so long for the food to digest? Should I go back to full liquids?

So Strange Getting Used To Eating Differently
Afro_Cyster commented on mars411's blog entry in mars411's Blog
We are in the exact same position. I am in the mushy/pureed stage and food seems so different now. My first experience with refried beans kept me full for a day and a half. It seems like I'm full just drinking water. On top of that, my weightloss has also stalled. Although I'm not terribly disappointed with the stall, my relationship with my stomach really has me down. I don't feel like myself. It feels like I'll never be able to move from the pureed stage. -
I'm using a baby spoon.....lol

I am sooooo full. I've been full for the last five hours. I want to drink water, but I don't think I have the space!!!

One thing that I would advise is that you get a list of things that the $11,000 covers. It may cover your doctor, but not the anesthesia (sp?), hospital stay, etc. Otherwise, I am self-pay, and I would do it again. Wish I did it sooner when my particular doctor was 1K cheaper.

What was the outcome?

Congratulations and best wishes on your upcoming surgery.

Dr. Kelly And Trish- New Info?
Afro_Cyster replied to silenceshhh's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
As I understand it, Dr Kelly has reconsidered changing hospitals because the new one doesn't have an ICU. -
I was told not to do weights until about 6 weeks out. Maybe that's why you're having pain near your incision? If you absolutely must work-out, try doing less intense exercises. I'm kinda like you.....I can't wait to get cleared to run.

Body Changes After Gastric Sleeve Surgery?
Afro_Cyster replied to CT Fats's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I can't wait to start running. I ran track in highschool and it has always been my go to exercise. Unfortunately, the added weight put a strain on my body and I've only been able to walk. In about two weeks I hope to get back on the track, by then I'll a month post-op.
