With college football season starting, what are you guys doing for game day snacks, if anything?

I'm on day 4 of my post op and have to say things are going very well. My pain was gone after day 2 but I'm still moving kind of slow. Things were going so well I thought that it would be no problem to go to the store. I asked my system to come and get me only because I don't feel limber enough to get into my truck yet, and boy am I glad I did. I was pushing the cart, happy go lucky, and by the time I was half way through my list (only had about 10 items to get) I was exhausted. I came home and my sister put up my groceries for me and I just vegged in the easy-chair. Guess I need to take things a little slower! On the diet front, thankfully I'm not having any issues. I'm on full liquids now and had some cream of chicken Soup (strained of course) and it went down with no problem. There have been a few times where I've taken a sip that was really a gulp and felt the tightness in my throat but it soon passes. I have to say that this site has helped me out a lot. Everyone's contributions here help me make my decision to do this and helped me know what to expect. So move down the line...Big Kahuna is on the losers bench!:thumbup1:

In a few short hours (at noon) I get sleeved! The last couple of days have been rough on the liquid diet but I know it's all worth it. I can't wait to get this done and start on my new life. I can't wait to get to the point where I don't have to plan things out because of my weight, like getting to the airport an extra hour early because of the long walk, or making some lame excuse not to meet friends because the place will be to crowded. I know it's corny, but today is the first day of the rest of my life!:scared0:

My new life (the surgery) begins on the 15th! -
I had my final consult with the surgeon yesterday and I'm scheduled to go under the laposcopic "knife" on June 15th!

I got my date today...surgery is on June 15th! I'm getting it done here in Atlanta at the Emory Clinic with Dr. Davis. Now comes the pre-op diet and all the 2nd thoughts!

Choosing a hospital in Atlanta, GA

Trinity...I'm using Dr. Scott Davis at Emory-Midtown and getting sleeved in June. I like the Emory program and comfortable with the Emory program. I think that is the big thing, you need to be comfortable and confident in program. -
I'm trying to plan things out and was wondering how the first day home was for everyone. I live alone and was wondering if I really need someone there those first few days when I get home. Did you find that you had to have someone there to help do things, or was it just nice to have someone there? If I really don't have to have someone stay with me I would prefer not to...I know I won't be much fun!

Pigging out before surgery???
big_kahuna replied to young250's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's happening to me too! I'll have my surgery in June and I've found myself grabbing stuff that I should buy when I'm at the store. I've gained a couple of pounds since last week! I'm trying to get it back in control, but it's getting hard to do right now. -
Thanks everyone. I'll let you know when I get the offical date. I don't have the pre-op diet instructions yet, but I'm hoping get that soon. My only concern is that I have a birthday coming up and would hate to be on a liquid diet!

I have Aetna and got the official letter yesterday that I was approved. I knew I was because the doctor's office called to schedule the pre-op testing, but until I had that letter in my hand I didn't want to say anything. So it looks like my surgery will be sometime in the beginning of June. I have to say I'm excited and nervous about this. Reading all the posts here and the replies I've gotten from my posts helps reassure me that I'm making the right decision. It's gonna be a long month until my surgery. Now I need to think about getting everything ready for after the surgery. I live alone so any suggestions on things to get before/after surgery would be appreciated.

Hey guys, I'm trying to decide if I want to get the surgery or not. I guess my biggest concern is life after the surgery, specifically the diet. Maybe it just a mind-set that I have to get over, so maybe you can help me. Will you ever be able eat a "normal" meal? Everything I've read here is "I take 2 bites of this or 2 bites of that and I'm full". It makes it sound like if you make a pot of spaghetti you will be eating on it for a month or two! I enjoy food (obviously too much or I wouldn't be thinking of the surgery) and I guess I'm just unsure of what to do and concerned that if I do the surgery I'll regret it later on. Any advice?

I've been going through the program at the Emory Clinic here in Atlanta. I have a few paperwork things to get lined up then I'll meet with the surgeon. I'm hopeing that my insurance will cover it, if not...then I may be Mexico bound.

I want to thank everyone for their responses and observations on this. Hearing from people who have gone through this gave me the confidence that this is the right decision for me. I've been going through the program getting ready for the surgery but hadn't decided to do it or not. After reading posts on this forum and all your replies to my question, I've decided to go ahead with the surgery. Thanks again for all your thoughts on this!

Thanks everyone. I know I need to do this but I just have to get it right in my head first. Getting confirmation from folks who have gone though this makes the decision a little be easier to make. Thanks again!

I have been on what I like to call the journey to the "old me" for a few months now. I'm going through the step in prepeation for the surgery, but I'm still on the fence about it. I have a good bit of weight to lose (about 150 lbs) and know that this will help me achieve my goal. My hesitation comes from what life will be like after the surgery. I've heard stories of not being able to eat certain things and not sure if I want that. Will I be able to eat a steak again? Or shrimp? Or BBQ? I know this is a life changing decision and I just want to make sure I make the right one. Thanks for listening.

Thanks for the info. It's good to know that I'll still be able to enjoy myself. I looked at your thread and have to admit that the chili looked good. After reading alot of posts that are on this site over the last couple of days, I'm feeling better about making the decision to go ahead get the surgery. Thanks again! -

Linda, Thanks for taking the time to reply to me. It's good to know that there will be steak and shrimp in my future! I've been reading alot of posts here over the last day or so and have found some really great "real world" information. To hear what others have gone through and the issues they have faced have given me a lot to think about and I feel will help me make my decision. Thanks again! -

Thanks for the reply. I first went into this thing about the band and during the informational seminar about the surgery I heard about the sleeve. As soon as I heard about it I thought that this would be for me. I guess now I'm just coming to terms with the whole lifestyle change. I've given myself a deadline of March 15th to decide if I'm going to go through with it. I'm getting everything lined up so the insurance will pay for most of it. I guess I'm focusing on what I'll be giving up as opposed to what I will gain by this.
