About Me

  • Gender
    Female
I went to a bariatric surgery that a friend went to and it was a 3 month wait and self funded at $6,500 . After seeing the allied health 4some at $500 was told the waiting time has gone to up to 12 months . I was quite disheartened with this unexpected information because i could join private health fund for twelve months and only a $500 excess payment which i just might do because i can then choose a private hospital and one that is closer to my home whereas the hospital now is a public one and 50ks away.I feel strongly that this surgery should be available under medicare because alcoholics can get liver transplants etc and im sick of hearing the media asking Should tax payers money be used to fund bariatric surgery well i dont drink or smoke but i certainly wouldnt protest against tax money being used to treat these people. I have diabetes and heart disease and advanced arthritis so this is not for cosmetic reasons why i want this done but to extend my life. And i forgot to mention im a 56 yr old woman.
