I am struggling with this right now as well, and I believe my dad who is also a VSG'er is too. I can easily do a bottle of wine by myself and want to- often. Don't know how to stop it.

Nightline "weigh Less Drink More"
ATeam replied to KristieAtkinson's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have found myself drinking waaay too much wine. I can seriously have 3 glasses a night, every night. I KNOW this is holding me back with my weight loss, and am not quite sure what to do. -
Hey guys, I was sleeved in December, and am headed to Punta Cana for a friends wedding in 2 weeks. Some of my friends know about the surgery, but many people who I went to high school with who will be there have no idea. What have you guys done for scar minimization? Mine are still kinda reddish. I have been exfoliating them often, which really helps. Any suggestions?

I am going to get pure zinc to put on my scars when I go away! Also, in tanning beds I cover up my stomach so no rays can get at them!

Thanks baseball mom! I will look for it.

Just downloaded the zombie version! It called zombies, run!

I'm 26, and have lost 34 so far, but I had about 45-50 lbs to lose,so I'd say I'm doing well. My skin feels saggy, but I think that's from YEARS of yoyo dieting. Also, I am not diligent with water and excercise.

How much did you lose n the pouch test? Do you feel restriction? I just started day 1 today!
-
The three day pouch test website and forum has all the info you'll need. Just google it. I am on day 1, so far so good! The soups you are allowed to have are amazing.

I love Pilates. It tightens my bod up like no other. I am 5 weeks out- do you think its too early for me to start up again? Its alot of ab/tummy work so I am kind of nervous! I am also wanting to hit up some yoga again, but am not sure what the norm for those types of workouts would be! Thanks buddies!

Anyone interested should watch this video. This woman actually cured herself of MS by eating a paleo diet modified to take in the maximum amounts nutrients. I truly believe that Our modern high carb low fat diet is what is killng our society. I am currently doing. High fat low carb diet and I have had very, very little hunger (which had actually been a problem for me since being sleeved), and my weight loss has been great! If you're interested, also check out the documentary "Fathead". It's basically Gary Taubes' "Good Calories, Bad Calories" in a nutshell.

I have started doing a HFLC (high fat, low carb) diet with my sleeve. The results have been AMAZING so far. I have had great weight loss, and also I am very satiated all the time. When I was eating carbs I definitely felt much more hunger, and I felt it soon after eating. I made this recipe this am, and it turned out great! Even if you aren't low-carbing it, its a great alternative to traditionjal pancakes, and it'll keep you full all morning long! http://comfybelly.com/2009/02/fluffy-coconut-flour-pancakes/

Alcohol After 6 Weeks Out?
ATeam replied to shannonbcaldwell's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have had alcohol since about 4 weeks out and I haven't died.... yet. I find I get a little drunker off of wine faster, and I DEFINITELY do with hard alcohol. I think it has something to do with how little I am able to eat now. I If you want to have one, just know it can irritate your scar line, and that your liver is healing. It is a personal choice only you can make! -
Put on my calf-high boots today for the first time in FOREVER! I feel like a kid in a candy store - everything fits! On a more health related note, excercising feels a million times easier. I am actually back to enjoying running and sweating again! My attitude towards food has totally changed as well. I still like it, but I am quite indifferent as to my portions and what I can eat, where as before I wouldn't be able to top thinking about putting that last bite into my already full belly! This is how I always wanted to eat, and how was meant to be. I am so excited for everyone scheduled for and considering this surgery! Best thing I have ever done.

I am so happy for everyone here that has had success! This is how we were meant to be- not always having that visious cycle of hunger, feeling out of control, guilt and shame. I feel very free and not stressed or anxious about my weight or appearance or portions. It is so freeing and so wonderful! Congrats to you too Dorrie and Abacoraveness! Texasgirl- good luck with your surgery! It will be amazing for you

How Soon Can I Resume Intercourse After Surgery?
ATeam replied to Nikki_1985's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think I waited 5 or 6 days? Depends how you feel! Just take it easy. -
I am the exact same way! I maybe get a little bit drunker, but I attribute that up the fact there's usually not food in my tummy!

Drinking With A Straw
ATeam replied to mariemadeline's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I started at about 3 or 4 weeks out. It was waaaaay easier to for me to get all of my water in when I used a straw. I personally found that I didn't get tons of air through the straw, which is why they don't want you to drink from it! -
