    Where Are You 200+Er's?

Checking in...I am 11days out and down 10 pounds since surgery. On full liquids and can't wait to move to the mushie stage. Surgery went great and have had little to no problems with it. I keep waiting for something to go wrong. Need to get my butt out and walking, I just don't seem to have much energy. How is everyone else doing?

How Are You One Week Post-Opers

I am one week out today and have to say I have had a very easy time with this. No pain meds since getting home, no gas pain, no incision pain, no throwing up, I get most of my protein drinks in and getting closer to all of my water intake too. I have one more week of full liquids and can't wait to start adding a little substance to these meals. I know is sounds weird but I can't wait to get some Wendy's chili and puree it, oh heaven help me!! Okay, I have to be honest here and admit that I have not started really walking yet. Oh sure I walk around the house and up and down the stairs but to really get out side and walk 30 minutes still hasn't happened. Gotta find my mojo...has anybody seen it?
  4. I am five days post op and have come down with a terrible cold and cough. Any suggestions on liq meds that I could take to help with the cough? This is killing my new incisions.

Thanks for all the support. I called my surgeon and she had me go to the ER and I have bronchitis. Got cough meds with codeine and liquid Zithromax. Hopefully will start feeling better soon.

    Hi Surgery 3/21

I has surgery on the 19th and I have a cough too. I ended up coming out of surgery with the worst sore throat I've ever had and they wouldn't let me drink anything till 24 hours after the surgery. I actually feel really good except for the stupid cough.

    March Roll Call!

Hi everyone! I had surgery on Monday morning and should be heading home today. Tuesday was tough, I didn't feel very good but today I feel so much better. I'm keeping down 4oz of liquid every hour now. They brought me yogurt which I might try but am very afraid it will hurt. I have been up walking laps and have only had a tiny bit of pressure in my shoulder due to the gas. Feeling very fortunate and can't wait to get home to my own bed.

    I'm On The Other Side

Well here it is Wednesday morning and I'm still in the hospital. My blood pressure spiked yesterday and I was running a fever. It's almost 4am and i feeling much better. I should be heading home today I hope.
  9. Had surgery at 11am this morning and I've been up walking already. Will get a few more laps in later this evening. I feel like I've done 10 million sit ups. My kingdom for a sip of water.

    Trying To Stay Calm.

gmadeline - I am checking in tomorrow too at 8:30am, and as you I am very nervous. Yesterday I had almost talked myself out of it but today was much better. I look forward to hearing how your experience went and we could compare notes. Where are you having your surgery? I'm having mine in Portland OR. Good luck!
  11. Just got the call for my surgery time on Monday, very excited but getting a little nervous. Any last minute suggestions from all of you on the losers bench? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    March 19Th At 11:30Am

I'm getting a little nervous and sometimes wonder if I'm doing the right thing but I know that this will be the best thing I can do for myself to get healthy. I'm so glad to see so many of us with the same date! I look forward to hearing from all of you later this week to hear how everything went. Good luck to you all!
  13. I too am having surgery on the 19th and am getting a little nervous. I don't have to move to full liquids till the day before the surgery but I am adding alot more liquids this week to help ramp up to that point. My kids are older and heading out of the house so it's just me and my husband and he said he was going to lighten his eating habits so that it wouldn't make is so tough on me and so that he too can become healthier. Keep going, you can do it and in the end it will be all worth it.

    March Roll Call!

March 19th with Dr. Emma Patterson in Portland OR
  15. I'm scheduled for the 19th too! I'm so glad to have others here with the same date. I had my gall bladder removed back in 1987 so I have a large scar but the surgeon said it probably won't be a problem.
  16. I had my presurgery appt last week and was told that I only have to do a one day liquid diet the day before surgery, they dont use a catheder, they don't do a leak test and they try to get you home on the same day. I'm having surgery in Oregon, covered by insurance...has anyone else experienced this plan?

    Where Are You 200+Er's?

I have 200 pounds to lose. I started out at 358 and I think I'm around 235 now. We had a house fire and I don't have my scale anymore. My surgery was supposed to be this week but I pushed it out a month in hopes that the stress level would not be as great and boy am I glad that I did that. It has been an emotional roller coaster since the fire with alot more downs then ups. Things are getting better now and I am looking forward to getting back on track for this journey. My new date is March 19th and I can hardly wait. I will continue to check this thread as you are all an inspiration to what is ahead. Thank you!

    When To Return To Work

Wow, my surgeon wants a minimum of 4 weeks but would prefer 6 weeks off. My follow up appt with her is exactly one month post surgery. If I really had to go back to work at 4 weeks she would consider it with lots of modifications. I luckily have short term disability that will cover my wages while I'm out so I will take the 4 weeks off then maybe just work from home the last two. I can't imagine going back to work after only a week. You guys are rock stars!
  19. We had a serious house fire on Sunday and will be displaced for 6-9 months. We are in a hotel for now but hopefully will be getting into a rental late next week. My request for advice is this...I am scheduled for surgery on Feb 13 and I'm very afraid that I'll still be dealing with house issues and getting contents cleared out (I have no idea how long that will take) so I'm wondering if I should push the surgery out a few weeks. HELP! What do you think?
  20. Talked to the surgeon's office yesterday and have rescheduled to March 19. I feel much better about it now. Disappointed that I have to wait but I think it will be for the best. I've gone this long, a few more weeks wont matter. Thanks again for all the support.
  21. Thank you to everyone for the advice. As much as I want to get this started and for as long as I have waited I do think the smart thing is to push this out a few weeks. Yesterday the whole fire thing hit me hard and it was not a great day both mentally and physically. Can't imagine also dealing with healing from surgery at the same time. I will keep you all posted on my new date, should know that tomorrow. Thank you again!
  22. Thank you everyone for the advice. We are moving into the rental home on Thursday and our contractor said we'd have the house emptied in less than two weeks so I think what I'm going to do is call Monday and set up an appt with the WL office and talk face to face with them and see what they think too. I'm kind of thinking of just going forward with it as scheduled. I have waited so long and really don't want to wait any longer, however, I will do what ever the surgeon's office says. I only think it's fair to let them know what's happening. You guys are all awesome, thank you! PDXMan - Yes that was us on Sunday. We have 5 fire trucks, the fire command truck and an EMT truck in our culdesac. It was quite a site. We'll be moving to the Bethany area over on Wismer Drive next week.
  23. I am now super stoked...the office had told me last week that I was approved but yesterday in the mail I got my approval letter from the insurance company and the big info packet from the surgeon's office. I can finally relax and know that I am set to go and Feb 13 is going to really happen! I can't thank you guys on here for all the support and advice, it's been amazing and am so glad I found this place.
  24. I got my info packet from the surgeon's office yesterday and I only have to do a three day total liquid diet. I am soooo glad, I don't know if I would have been strong enough for two weeks. I'm so excited there are so many of us all heading in around the same time. Yeah for us! I can't wait to start reading all the amazing things you are all doing.
