I'm just over a year and a half since banding and have been stuck at 245-250 (6'2 male with 30 bmi, bmi has also remained unchanged) for several months now. I obsessivly track my calories 900-1100 (mostly protiens, solid and Protein shake) a day and excercise approx 3-4 times a week. ive switched up my workout routines. I've read some info about carb cycling but am concerned becasue i track my weight everyday and if i slip up just a little on calories by weight fluctuates alot, like 3-4 pounds which is really frustrating. Like if one day I have a ham and chees sandwhich instead of a protien shake for lunch the next day my weight will have increase a few pounds. am I going crazy, how is that possible. I really want to break the 40lb platue but have tried a lot of different things and beyond starving myself and doing liquids only i dont know what to do. edit: if you need anymore info please let me know and i will provide it.

I don't know what happened, I was banded approx a year ago, had about two fills and lost close to 70 pds and was so happy. To be honest it wasn't really hard to lose! About 6 months ago i got a fill (about 2ml) that i completely regret because i was so tight that I gained about 30 pounds back. I recently got 1 ml taken out and did liquids only for about 4 days. When I started eating solids again i felt a little restriction but after about 10 mins it passed and I was hungry again. I have been excercising and watching what I eat, but its just not coming off as easliy as it did before and wanteed to get everyones advice before I schedule another appointment possibly for a .5ml fill (does that amount even make a difference?). I am just embarresed because when I lost all that weight I told my family about the lapband and now that i gained some back i feel silly and like I've failed. and dont know how to get back to that place where i lost all that weight! i'm desperate and confused, anyone have any advice or gone through something similar?

I'm a little frustrated and need some advice before I see the Dr. I got the lapband about a year ago when I weighed 290 I went down to about 50 pounds after my send fill (7 months after surgery) and eventually got a 3rd fill. since then (about 5-6mths) I've gained almost everything back. I found that eating anything is almost impossible without throwing it back up, then only way oto keep things down is to force it through the small amounts through the band with Water, which obviously is a horrbile habit. I can't understand why I've gained everything back even though I don't eat all that much? I'm going to schedule a Dr. appointment and am considering getting an small amount of the band unfilled (maybe .5 ml?) back to what it was when I lost 50lbs, but I'm nervous that an unfill will make things worse and I will gain even more back. Anyone had this problem, any advise? I do wathc what I eat and have been excercising more recently but am still confused, its not like i sat around sediment for the last 6 months eating junk forcing it down with milkshakes or something, so I'm confused as to why I would gain everything back! Please share anything that can help. Thanks

ok sorry if im grossing anyone out but i was just banded 1/16 and ever since then i feel like i consistently have to urinate or go number 2, however, usualy little or nothing comes out. is this common? maybe just an adjustment to my food intake which is mostly protien and Water etc. i just didnt know if it was a shock to my system and should take some over the counter laxitives because i feel backed up (gross sorry). any suggestions? thanks

question. I just had my surgery done by a dr in jersey (I live in bucks county PA) I spoke with another dr much closer to home who said they can do the fills but they are requiring me to do another upper G.I.? (where they put the scope down your throat) I had on before the surgery to detrmine henia risks, is this necessary to have again? My original dr sent them all the info about the lap band used and size etc and the port is easily locatable I dont understand why I'd have to have this procedure (although quick and painless) done again before a fill. can anyone help/explain. does anyone have a similar experience with getting all their fills by someone other than their original Dr? Thanks in advance

Getting Banded Monday, Need Help With Grocery List
WeaponX posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
What items are essential in the first few weeks to have on hand? Gas Strips sugar free Jello beef/chicken broths protien shakes etc? Thanks I'm going shopping today and could really use the advice -
Odd question here. My wife jokingly told me the other day she heard that some people no matter what they do wont be able to lose wieght from their face because the fat cells are to prominent. I laughed but then started freaking out that I would lose 100lbs but still have a chubby face. Has anyone had any problems losing weight in ceratin areas? Sadley there is no machine that specifically works my face at my gym, lol. I guess I will just hope for the best and double down on the cardio.

Dr. Vishal Mehta - Dr. Vishal Mehta
WeaponX replied to Gum Drop's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I am going to Dr Mehta, I will be banded early next year, but have already completed all the insurance requirements and had my meeting with him. He was very brief in my initial consult, just quickly explaning how it works. I havent talked to him since, Lulu, the office manager is very helpful and answers any questions you have quite quickly through email. She too had the lap band procedure and is a great source of info both from a professional view and a personal view. I wasnt blown away with Dr Mehta's "friendly-ness" or bedside manner (or whatever you want to call it) but it didnt bother me, I'm not looking for a friend I was looking for a Dr to complete this procedure. I have Personal Choice and didn't really have any problems getting approved. Lulu told me what to get from my primary care doctor and handled everything else. When are you getting banded? I'm curious to learn more about him as to what pre-diets etc need to be completed. I have a follow up with him next month where I assume he will review all this but like everyone else I am a bit anxious. -
Can you go to a different Dr for your first fill than the one who put the lap band in? I am getting banded in Jan in Jersey but found a Dr who does fills right around the corner. I was wondering if insurance covered fills with different Dr's so close after the banding. I have personal choice. any one have any thoughts?

Thought I'd stop lurking and sign up. I am getting the lap band surgery in Jan, I have everything approved and am ready to go. Why so far out? Well I have a very conservative family who I think would dissaprove of me telling them about the procedure, and I definately think someone would know something is up over the holidays when I appear to eat very little (or be drinking only protien shakes). I'm over 30 and my wife approves so thats all that matters. I figure if I do tell them I'd like to have atleast lost a good amount of weight first so they can see the benefits. I'm getting the surgery done in jersey by Dr Mehta as he can do the procedure with only one incision (in the belly button). Anyone a patient of his? Anywho I am really getting this done because I've tried everything else and I have some heart problems that could be greatly reduced by losing weight. Most of all I'm doing this for my son, I dont want him growing up with a out of shape dad or worse with no dad at all. I was always really active in my 20's but a bought of lymes diseases nearly mad it impossible to run or work out with my joints, which caused me to gain wieght and made my joints worse. I'm really looking forward to losing just a little weight so I can start running again and hopefully start a positive cycle involving weight. I'm 6'2 and weigh 290lbs right now, i googled a healthy weight and it said 180lbs which i thought was kinda crazy, I think I'd be happy at about 220lbs, which i think may be attainable. Well I look forward to exchanging results/questions/ideas with everyone thanks for reading.

Newbie to board ~ Banded yesterday
WeaponX replied to Christina42's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
About how quickly do you think you could return to work? I work at a computer/desk all day and was just wondering how many days I would need to take off. One day for the surgery and then what? 1-2 days?
