Passed First Goal!
legnarevocrednu commented on legnarevocrednu's blog entry in legnarevocrednu's Blog
November 21st 2011. 14 of those 51 pounds were pre op. So technically, I've lost 37 pounds since surgery. -
Checking in at 209! 6 pounds down!
-
Thank you. Yeah it's as I suspected. I do not have internet at home. Because I have the iPhone, I found that I wasn't using it so got rid of it. I loaded everything at my moms. I'll just have to try to go to my moms a few times a week I guess lol. No big. Thanks for your help!

I don't really care about the website (I have the app on my phone). I just care about syncing it. And to clairfy, I DON'T need wifi to SYNC the fitbit? Just my computer and the station right? Sorry...still a little confused lol.
-
Thanks everyone for your response! So I'm guessing what everyone is saying is that if I bring my laptop (which has the fitbit program downloaded) around with me, plug the station in, it will update? It doesn't have to be connected to wifi? That doesn't make sense to me....but okay! I know the program is a necessity because I tried putting it on it's station on my work computer and it didn't work. I can't download the program on my work computer so I'm out of luck. I figured everything else out after a couple of days using it. It's really hard for me to get to 10,000 steps. I've only done it 1 out of 4 days. Ooppss.
-
I started using mine today, and so far, I'm not that impressed. I guess I didn't realize that it only syncs up when near your computer that connected to wifi. Well, unfortunately, I do not have wifi at home or at work. I do at my moms, so that's where I set it up. Huge disappointment. I should have researched it more. Also, I can't figure out how to find out how many calories I've burned OR how to set it up for sleep. Usually I'm good with electronics, but I'm getting a little frustrated with this. Also, I'm wondering how accurate it is. Does anyone know if/when it automatically resets? It DOES reset right? Like, at midnight or something? If anyone can help with this, I'd appreciate it. Thanks!

Dizziness
legnarevocrednu replied to legnarevocrednu's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well I've been working out for almost a month now. Just recently started doing the strength. This is the first week I've felt the dizziness. I haven't noticed the time, but I will try to take note. Thanks!! -
Do You Sometimes Feel Like A Fraud?
legnarevocrednu replied to Miss Meow's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I absolutely feel this way! But like you, I feel that it is mostly me at this point. I count my calories and make better choices. But that doesn't help the guilt. It is what it is. -
I'm a believer in rewards. I am close to meeting my first goal of 50 pounds lost (only 5 pounds away!) so I'm starting to think of something I can do to reward myself. So I was curious what you guys have done once you have met a specific goal. Buy yourself a new outfit, electronic? Eat something yummy? I've been thinking of a slice of pizza but not sure how good of an idea that is lol. Also, what were your goals? I know mine are (at the moment) 50 pounds lost, under 200 pounds, 100 pounds lost, then goal weight! Although exciting, this is also very difficult, and we should always remember to reward ourselves!

Check in! 211 this morning. Weight loss total: 4 pounds. At this rate, I probably won't meet my goal (it was a little far fetched anyway) but I'm still going to try! :-)
-
I use my fitnesspal and love it. It does everything except the sleep logs and the fills. I think the only thing you would have to use the fitbit.com website is for the sleep logs. But it's up to you!

I am down to 210 this morning! That means I've lost 49 pounds since the beginning of my pre op diet which started November 11th. I am sooooo happy!! I am going to buy myself a pandora bracelet along with two charms. I want to buy myself a charm for every 20 pounds lost. I bought myself a couple pairs of jeans. Not only were they on clearance (only 14 bucks for 2 pairs of jeans!!) but one was even a size 14!! I cannot remember the last time I was in a size 14!! So exciting! As my last post stated, I just received my second fill last week. So far so great!! I know I'm most likely still swollen, but I have great restriction right now as well as little to no hunger. Next week will be the deciding factor on whether I'm in the green zone or not. Happy V Day everyone!

I don't have the website at hand, but if you google couch to 5K, there is one. It's basically a program that can help anyone run 3 miles in 9 weeks my gradually increasing the speed and distance.

Yesterday I went in for my 2nd fill. My doctor tried telling me he didn't think I needed one because I lost 11 pounds since our last appointment, but I told him that the only restraint I'm feeling is personal, and not due to the band. So he put 1CC in. I believe my band is at 5CC's now (in a 14CC band). My doctor looked really surprised at the amount of weight I have lost. He even asked me what my secret was. He was really really happy with my progress. His eyebrows shot up and he found out how much I lost. Makes me feel really good! He also cleared me to do any type of exercise. I have only been doing cardio up until then, but last night, I incorporated some strength exercises into my routine. I'm appropriately sore and that makes me happy. I plan on doing strength exercises twice a week and 3 days of cardio. I'm also starting that couch to 5k program next week but I'll probably be doing that on my lunch break. As soon as my tax return comes in, I'm going to purchase some nice running shoes and a fit bit. I'm getting so excited! Also, I went clothes shopping yesterday. I know that I need new pants and jeans because all of mine are baggy, but I have always had an extremely difficult time finding pants and jeans that fit well. I don't have much of a butt, so a lot of them are baggy in the back. So I have yet to find jeans and pants that look good on me in a size smaller (which I do need). I only have one pair of jeans that I can still wear that don't fall off of me, and 2 pairs of pants I can wear to work which will soon become impossible for me to continue wearing. So I'm on the search for new bottoms. I got off track. What I did find out yesterday while I was shopping, is that I'm a size smaller in shirts! I always used to have to buy 1X but now, 0X fits me perfectly! That made my day! Now I'm currently drinking my SF Carnation Instant breakfast. It's taken me over an hour and I love it! I can usually drink it within 15 minutes. I just like to be reminded that my band is there and it's working. 46 pounds in 10 weeks! Pretty fantastic!

They didn't tell me I had to. I've been doing pretty good at getting in my protein from food and my SF Instant Carnation Instant Breakfast. It's a personal choice for me because I don't like protein drinks.

First Supper

I only remember mine because it was the night of my work Christmas dinner. I had a broiled crab cake. Super yum! -
Diet Advice?
legnarevocrednu replied to MissManders's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm post band for almost 3 months now. I also use myfitnesspal and I can tell you that I NEVER meet my calorie goal of 1200. I usually prefer to stay around 800 anyway. It's weird that even with your 3 protein drinks, you aren't meeting the protein goal. If I try, I can usually exceed that and I don't even drink protein drinks. I usually just stick to food that has lots of protein in it. Anyways, that's the problem with starting the pre op diet so early. Your body may go into starvation mode. You may want to make your diet at this point a little less extreme. For instance, have a protein drink for breakfast, and have a healthy lunch and dinner. You will still lose weight that way. Make healthier choices and avoid sweets and junk food. Also, 12 pounds in 2 weeks is NOT healthy. 6 pounds would have been great. I definitely think you are cutting yourself too short on calories. Also, talk to the nutritionist. Maybe they can point you to a healthier, safer diet. Good luck. Let me know how it goes! -
Anyone Not Feeling Negative?
legnarevocrednu replied to littlerlou's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I feel like I see an equal of both positive and negative on here. Make sure you also read the blogs and like someone said above, the success stories. Iv'e lost 45 pounds in 10 weeks, so I believe I'm a success thus far. I would do everything the same and do not regret my decision at all. Good luck and stay positive! -
Grilled chicken is usually the best way for me to go. I also like chilli (the one I had today is only 220 calories and has 15 grams of protein per serving). I also like eggs and greek yogurt.

That is EXTREMELY strange! You should ask your doctor why he/she did that. I had my second fill on Tuesday and he actually didn't want to give me a fill because of the amount of weight I've lost. That's how it's supposed to be. I asked him for one anyway because I wasn't feeling restriction and he agreed to put 1cc in. I would definitely ask your doctor what the point is in the band if he's not going to help you work it. So weird. Let us know how today goes!

Here is my actual check in! Weighed in at 213 this morning! Yay! So I'm down 2 pounds!

Since November 11th, I have been losing about 4 pounds a week on average. A week ago, I joined the gym. I have gone a total of 6 times since then. This is the first week I have not lost ANYTHING since surgery. It really makes me upset. I thought starting to work out would help with my weight loss but it seems to be doing the exact opposite. Are there any medical reasons for this? Am I gaining muscle maybe? Retaining water? As you will see in my previous post, I have been eating more on gym days because I felt like I needed the extra calories because I would be burning calories. But maybe that's not the right thing to do. I have not once gone over my calorie limit either. I'm taking off from the gym tomorrow. I'm hoping when I weigh myself on Monday, I will have beat this little plateu. If I haven't, I'm going to have to do something. Sooo frustrating! I feel like I'm busting my butt at the gym for nothing Oh and I know some people say that when the scale isn't moving, you are most likely losing inches. Well, I measured myself a couple of days ago for the first time in weeks, and I had only lost 1 inch in my hips. No loss in my waist. I guess I just want to know if there is a reasonable explanation for this so I can stop fretting. Thanks!!

I can honestly say that yesterday was the worst day food wise since I've gotten the band! I had chips and a slice of pizza. I wanted to cry yesterday. I have been SOOOOO strong! But today is a new day and I'm as focused as ever. I actually lost 1.8 pounds since Saturday but just knowing I gave in to temptation really bothers me. Hitting the gym like a demon today! I go back for my second fill tomorrow. I've lost 11 pounds since my last one, so I think my doctor will be happy with my progress. I'm hoping to be at 200 pounds (preferably 199) by the end of this month. Only 14-15 pounds to go! Ahhh! It's a lot to hope for, but I'm hoping with this fill and me working my butt of at the gym, that it can happen.

What Are You Goals With The Lap Band?
legnarevocrednu replied to Sunshyne068's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
To shop in regular stores where they don't overcharge. To run a 5K To eventually get pregnant and have a healthy pregnancy I want my ring size to shrink...it's currently a 9.5 or 10. To be healthy and happy! Great topic! -
So I need some opinions here. On the days I go to the gym, I eat a lot more. Around 1000 calories or so. I eat almost every 2 hours...it seems and sounds like a lot! I do that because I usually burn at least 400 calories at the gym, leaving me between 600 and 700 calories. Is this the right way to do it? On days I don't go to the gym, I just stick to my 3 meals a day and eat every 4 hours. On those days, I try not to go over 800 calories. I always feel guilty for eating so much on gym days (all healthy things though...with a focus on protein). I figure if I didn't eat more, I'd probably be left with less than 400 calories for the day and that just doesn't seem right. Sooo....what do you think?
