Here's why you don't tell anyone about your WLS
DougNichols posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
This is nuts, some person came to a famous WLS YouTuber's house and went crazy: [nomedia=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CHcKd2de-H0]YouTube - Update - Medical Problems - Part 1 of 2[/nomedia] -
Top 10 reasons to have VSG surgery
DougNichols replied to ImdownwithVSG's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Haha, I took a lot of dancing classes. And being fat, I sweat and all the ladies AVOID ME LIKE I HAVE A DISEASE. They'll go around the room and say "Ladies, pick your men!" and I'll be standing there by myself. I try to make eye contact with them and smile, and they look away really fast. I stopped going after a few weeks, obviously. :thumbup1: -

Life STINKS after surgery

Did you at least lose some weight? -
Your last two years would be the day of your application - 2 years? So 01/2009 - 01/2011 ?

So you're on Atkins induction. That's not nearly as bad as other people who say they can only have 1 meal a day, and require shakes for the rest.

Where is it stated?? Aetna question...
DougNichols replied to peatie's topic in Insurance & Financing
History is required for mine. I got a little happy sheet from the surgeon's office that says, "Medical records that document a 2-year history of obesity ..." And they gave me a waiver to obtain doctor records from my PCP for the past 3 years. -
From reading a billion posts on different forums, if you meet Aetna's requirements, they approve very fast, and reliably.

It was on the requirements given to me by my surgeon. Here's their page: Obesity Surgery -
How much did you pay out of pocket with Aetna?
DougNichols replied to lisabug's topic in Insurance & Financing
Our 2 week liquid diet puts us into Christmas, so we probably won't get surgery until between then and new years. Or after Jan 1st. I'm assuming that most of the surgeons will take a good hunk of late December off. liquid diet while the remainder of my family feasts on turkey will suck, lol. -

Hey Peatie, you have the same hoop jumping cutoff date as me. Keep in touch. -
I feel like being thin will solve ALL of life's problems.. Which just isn't the case.
DougNichols replied to Pinkbetty25's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
This makes sense. I really haven't pursued many relationships since I've been obese, and I do distinctly remember how bad some of them were when I was thin. I guess it's par for the course. -
Question about carbonated drinks
DougNichols replied to dbrjredd's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Getting off my diet coke addiction was the best thing I've ever done. At one point in my life, I was consuming 2 2-liters a day of that crap. Then I finally weened myself off of it one cup at a time until it was totally gone. No more searching for diet coke in the morning, being embarrassed at purchasing 10 2-liters at the WalMart line, that was way too many chemicals for my body. Plus it just made me more hungry. -
Day 6 - and back to the gym I went!
DougNichols replied to Cknorte's topic in Gastric Plication Surgery Forum
That's so awesome, I'm gonna miss the gym A LOT after surgery. Great to know I can go back after a week or so (after checking with my surgeon of course). -
You don't HAVE to be thin, you can still be overweight, just not massively obese. Your risk for heart disease, cancer and all sorts of bad things are higher when you are severely overweight. Lowering yourself down to just "slightly overweight" will be so much healthier for your body.

And the stupid comments begin...

Sounds painful. Yet another reason I'm telling people that I'm on a supervised diet by my doctor. Nobody can say that's bad, nor complain about it. -
