  1. My pre-op was FOUR weeks, and I had THREE weeks of pure liquids. I'm DYING FOR SOME FOOD!

Can I start mushies a day early?

Yeah it's taking 30 minutes to finish a single serving cup of pudding. Gonna be a long process ...
  3. DougNichols

How long did it take for you to be approved?

2.5 weeks Was during Christmas time, however.

4 months out and I have a camel toe - woohoo!

I'm gonna pass on that one.

    I met a 4-year sleever today

Sliders are foods that don't require chewing, and just go right down (like chips, many fried foods, etc). I don't know if she gained ALL her weight back, but she definitely hasn't reached her target weight and stayed there. It was a sobering reminder that: SLEEVE IS A TOOL. Not a permanent, easy solution. You have to change your habits, and your relationship with food in order to really create a lifelong change.
  6. I hope your man gets you something sweet. Or your woman. Not that there's anything wrong with that.
  7. I've been enjoying four 1-cup servings of this lovely potato leek Soup per day, and think it's knocking me into the too-high carb range. So I replaced two servings with EAS Protein shakes at night. 8am ------ 3/4 serving potato leek organic soup 12pm ------ 3/4 serving potato leek organic soup 5pm -------- 1 serving eas Protein shake 5pm -------- 1 cup Milk (1% Lowfat with Added Vitamin A) 9pm -------- 1 serving eas protein shake I eat (drink) at: 8am, 12pm, 5pm, 9pm I probably should knock out the cup of milk, but I sure enjoy that in the evenings. Any suggestions or tweaks to help me get back on the losing track? I WAS working out every day for an hour, but the doctor told me to stop, so now I'm pacing occasionally around the house (which ain't the same, I miss my gym ) thanks!
  8. I modified it to actually show the food.
  9. I'm crushing up all my Vitamins and pills, then mixing into my Soups. IT TASTES MEGA-NASTY. What are you guys putting your crushed up medications in, to alleviate some of the horrible taste? I'm tired of nasty soups. Note: I can't get chewable versions of these meds.
  10. This is the best chili I've ever had. Addicting, hard not to eat it for several meals in a row: Soup, you just make prep it and go to work. Then dinner's ready in the slow cooker when you get home. Skip the black Beans and corn to reduce the carbs: http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Slow-Cooker-Chicken-Taco-Soup/Detail.aspx The easiest pot pie you'll ever make: http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Cheater-Pot-Pie/Detail.aspx
  11. The operation is a stop-gap fix that lasts about 2 years (or less). If you don't change your habits at the end of that time, yeah you'll probably gain all of it back, plus stretch your stomach A LOT. You paid all that cash and went through that pain for one reason - a lifestyle change. Remember the definition of insanity: Doing the same things, but expecting different results.
  12. I stayed one night, and the following night at home WAS ROUGH - for me at least. I wish I stayed 2 nights, but had the same situation as you. WALKING is a huge step in the recovery. Get up and do it every few hours. I was the only person walking on my entire floor (full of sleeve patients).

    Whatcha eating today!!! Monday

Roasted Red Pepper and Tomato Soup from the organic store nearby. IT'S GOOOOOOOOOD Half a cup and two sips of Water, and I'm THANKSGIVING STUFFED! No way I can drink this little 5oz V8 juice, guess that'll be my snack later.
  14. Only liquids the day before is a blessing. I didn't have to, but I did it voluntarily. The thought of doing a BM after that surgery seemed REALLY painful to me, and I luckily thanks to only liquids, I never had to.

    I need to know....

Here my very detailed experience: http://www.verticals...-vsg-experience Most likely scenario: Your throat will be sore. You'll have trouble breathing, but it goes away after 5-10 hours. It'll hurt pretty bad when you wake up, but after the drugs kick in, not really at all (until you move around). I was out of the hospital after 24 hours, and could walk around normally with little pain. Your mileage may vary. Make sure you WALK, even if they don't force you to. Two laps around the nurse station every few hours. It'll speed up your recovery exponentially.

    Chicken, anyone?

Are any of those Chili's Soups ALL liquid? Or do I need to wait until mushy phase to try them out?
  17. Stay VERY INVOLVED with your primary physician about your BP meds! I kept taking mine, and suddenly found myself with a 95/50 blood pressure which panicked my dentist. My PCP immediately told me to STOP taking them, since I was only getting 200 calories a day, otherwise I'd end up in the ER.
  18. Feeling fantastic! Went to the gym today, and set the treadmill on level 1, speed 1 (pace around the house kinda intensity) for 30 minutes. Found some great organic soups that are all creamy, and got my V8 / ISOPures. Not weighing myself, cause I know it'll drop like magic. Just focusing on the basics - the rest will fall in place. You?
  19. Much better since Wednesday, thanks!

  20. Stay at the hospital AS LONG AS YOU POSSIBLY CAN after surgery. The extra day or two will do wonders for your recovery. Even if you hate hospitals.

    Tomorrow is my day!

Stay there as long as you possibly can. There's a HUGE DIFFERENCE between hospital IV fluids and pain meds, and trying to get all your fluids in at home. Trust me on this, I had a horrible experience after leaving.
  22. Wish me luck everyone, I'll see you guys on the other side!
