    Why does weight loss slow?

I track everything I put in my mouth. I am two weeks out so I'm not cleared for exercise yet. I can only eat mushies.

    Vacation advice needed

I can almost assure you, you will regret it if you don't go because of your weight. Your weight shouldn't stop you from enjoying life. You may not be able to do everything, but don't let your weight control you anymore. Go, have fun and live your dream!
  3. These are great ideas! I am totally doing the meatballs! that sounds great! I don't know why this seems like the only missing info from my binder...weird!
  4. I was told bread as tolerated and can only go off what I was told. I had 4 bites. It is mushie, it made sense. It's low cal. But it didn't feel good. So now I am eating nothing because I don't know what to eat.

    3 days post op

I promise it will get better. I was there too, all I kept thinking was what a horrible mistake I made. I honestly didn't think I would ever feel normal. Almost 2 weeks out and I feel totally back to normal. This too shall pass! Just take your time and rest and let your body heal. I promise it will get better!
  6. OK seriously, this thing is saving my life. I've already lost 20 pounds and cannot believe how full this thing makes me. This is the first "diet" that I have done and am completely satisfied. It's only been a week so I am only having full liquids and that stuff fills me up! I had Soup for dinner and couldn't finish the bowl by FAR. I bet I had 10 small spoon fulls. Plus, I feel wonderful! I don't feel deprived or anyting. Yes, I wish I had more variety, but that will come as I heal. I know it probably won't always be like this, but I am enjoying every minute of it. I feel so in control of my eating. I love how little I ate, but I feel like I ate a ton. but...if this does always work like this, I am actually going to lose weight without being obsessed with food for the first time in my life. If this is how it works, I can still have my favorite foods, but only a 1/8 of the amount and stay under my daily calories. This thing really is wonderful. I feel like nothing is off limits so I don't feel like I need something. The healthy foods don't make me feel deprived, because it's a choice not because I have to or the diet will fail like Atkins. I am so happy with my decision. Just wanted to share!

    Loose SkIn!!!

I've heard skin brushing really does help.
  8. I have been having pain in my ribs about 4-5 inches to the left of where my port scar is. I called the dr yesterday and they said to just watch it. It's not horribly painful, but it hurts. Did something happen to my port? How do I know if something is wrong? Is it just a fluke?

    Pain in my ribs

It will be 2 weeks on Friday. I have done NO activity at all. No lifting and not even much bending over. I have been very strict about following their rules.

    Pain in my ribs

Let me rephrase....the pain in about 2 inches above the incision and about 3 inches over.
  11. Personally it really helped me to ask. I didn't know that it could affect your differently being banded so I learned quite a bit. Plus it's interesting seeing what other doctors recommend.
  12. I just can't drink alot in one sitting and I havent even gotten a fill! It's super crazy. That's what I love most about this. I can really only have a bite of something and am completely satisfied. Love it! Although my menu definitely isn't much, when creamy Soups fill you up, you know it's going to be awesome!
  13. I think I've decided on a sip. I can't do much of anything anyways do who am I kidding, I could even drink half.
  14. Maybe I should follow your pre-op instructions! Lol
  15. Honestly this is not about will power. Like I've said many times, I am not a drinker so i rarely have them. I am not following any plan. So I can't go off plan. My pre-op instructions are a different issue. I can start mushies on Friday. I don't know anything about alcohol other than never drink it ever again. Well that's dumb. I am not on another diet that limits certain foods. I have a new way of life. I know not everyone uses the band that way, but I do and it works. At least do far. If it works and I lose weight, get my Protein in and eat healthy, what does it matter. I don't understand alot of thR advice I am getting in here. It honestly sounds like alot of you are on diets. If I could follow a diet I wouldn't have gotten the band. I can however follow instructions and eat small amounts and be totally satisfied. Why would anyone be worried about my ability to stay with this. Stay with what? I am eating small amounts and less than 1200 calories a day. Sounds like I'm doing pretty great.
  16. On regular food it would effect me. I don't drink often so I am sensitive. Maybe I wi have a sip of someone else's and get the taste and no depriving.
  17. Gotcha that makes sense. I guess I was just hoping to enjoy it because I never did it even without the band. I think eventually I won't have to count , but for now it's been interesting to see how little I eat. I can't believe it personally. I finish very few meals. Onto mushies Friday. 23 pounds down too! So far so easy!!
  18. True. I should have said that was the closest to empty calories. I meant to say I don't drink my calories. Let me rephrase. Will it hurt my recovery? That's my concern more than anything. I don't want to hurt anything. Since you are a nurse, maybe you can explain to me why it would hurt my healing. Info like that really helps me think twice. But someone, anyone, tells me I am sabotaging my weightloss just sounds silly. I probably would never be able to drink a whole one period ever again because I can't drink much in one sitting any more. But I monitor my calories and couldn't eat or drink 1200 a day if I tried! At least not now. So my weight loss will definitely go untouched since my bmr is like 2400 cal.
  19. Well I thought I made it clear that I am not a drinker. Honestly my empty calories would come from milk. So maybe that advice is better for the big drinkers. I probably haven't had alcohol in 4-5 months.
  20. More thoughts... Do you guys NEVER have a drink or anything with empty calories? I am really fascinated by this. I am doing really great with the band and expect to keep doing so, but I am still doing to enjoy life. When my son turns 3 in April, I will have cake, but I won't eat a piece the size of texas this time. I got the band to help me control my poritons which it completely does. I don't eat 1/4 of what I used to, SERIOULSY not even a 1/4. But I am not doing to use this to control me. I control it and my eating. I dont mean to offend, but this band is for me to help not eat enough for 3 people. I didn't get fat from a twinkie. I got fat from eating a box of them. Just my two cents.
  21. But how is that sabotaging? I am not going to NEVER drink again. That's not why I got the band. I can factor it into my daily allotment. I don't get that argument. How can I follow their instructions? They told me to never drink it ever again because of the calories. Well I am not going to NEVER going to put empty calories in my body. That's not even realistic. But I can be smart about it. My question was about just being post-op and it being ok with my healing.
  22. I was told no while not eating solids. They told me to crush them.
  23. I will for sure! Hoping and praying your stuff comes together quickly. I am really excited about my new life.
  24. I hope you are wrong lol...I do hope that I can eat everything, but can only eat a very small amount. That would make me the happiest. We have always been pretty healthy eaters, I would just eat enough of the food to feed a family of 4.
