Oh my gosh! That's so horrible!!! -
Almost three weeks post-op and still have port pain
Kellysue replied to Kellysue's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good to know I'm not alone. My other small incisions are basically nothing. It's just the large one where the port is. I feel it kind of like a burning when I move wrong or bend over. -

I really appreciate all the stories. So many of us had the same childhood. -
Almost 30 pounds and no size difference.
Kellysue posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This seems really weird to me that I have lost almost 30 pound and although my clothes are a bit loser, not much has changed in that department. Is this normal? I lost a lot weight with Atkins a few years ago and I was down a size by this time. I think I am scared I am losing muscle and not fat I am almost 3 weeks post op. -

Kellysue replied to Kellysue's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yeah I really shouldn't complain. I am grateful for the loss. I think I was just hoping for at least one size difference. But you are right, my jeans are less snug, so that's a start. -
I wouldn't say it's bad for you, but why would you want to? I just don't think the band should be used as another diet, but as a tool to help you eat real food like normal healthy weight people do. It should help you learn portion sizes and how to control yourself. You could have done a protein shake diet without the band. That's just my opinion and nothing more. I am sure others will agree. I have lost almost 30 pounds in a month and I am eating real food now. I just don't go over my 1000 calories. I personally don't think our bodies were made for protein shakes, they were made for real, healthy foods.

Do I have to drink protein shakes?
Kellysue replied to Kellysue's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am just now to almost a normal diet. I still have to eat really moist meats. I still can't get in 60 grams a day. I am LUCKY at 40, but like your said, my nutrionist actually told me a few days ago that they would rather me get the protein from real food, but it's so hard! -
Do I have to drink protein shakes?
Kellysue posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
OK seriously, I can't find any I like. I have the powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury and the taste is great, but the smell is horrible. I am EXTREMELY sensitive to smells. Like seriously, I should be studied. It's that bad. Smell determines EVERYTHING for me, even my mood. I know I am weird. All of these Protein shakes have that protein smell or whatever it is and I can't stand it. The smell makes me nauseous. I almost threw up earlier, not because I was drinking too fast or had the wrong thing, but because of the smell. I am still nauseous from it. Honestly, if this is how this is going to be, I have to find an alternative to these Protein Shakes. I understand the importance of protein, but is there any way around this? Ive spent a lot of money trying different kinds and can't find anything. I even spent $70 on unflavored so I could put it in food. I can still smell it!!! Help!!!! -
I was a week liquid, one week full liquid/mushie, then what I am now which I don't think it has a name. It's not regular, but I think they call it full.

I meant three weeks out sorry.

I am almost two weeks out and almost lost 30 pounds. Last friday I went to a basically normal diet, but softer foods. I am in the camp of eat anything but keep it under 1000 calories. I eat healthy and am losing. I don't get enough protein though. I am working on it.

Scale isn't Moving...........

Are you tracking your calories? How many a day are you doing? -
So true! Funny story. I was banded almost three weeks ago and I was sooooo worried about my liver not shrinking enough. So worried that in fact, the first words after I woke up were, "How was my liver?" lol. It was nice and shrunk

You could always try a glycerine suppository too. It doesn't enter your blood stream and should make you go.

2 Weeks Post Lap Band Surgery And A Margarita???
Kellysue replied to Kellysue's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I ended up not having one. I did have a small brownie. I was well under my calories and stopped at just that. -
Go and enjoy yourself, weight loss isn't worth missing out on family. Yeah maybe you eat the wrong stuff for one meal, it's ok. This is a journey.

I hear a lot of people say they have slipped or messed up. What does that mean? What is there to slip from? Do they mean they go over their calories? I eat whatever, but healthy and count everything. Just trying to figure out what people mean.

It's definitely not going to kill you. The post op diet can be hard. Just stick to it and you will be on to solids soon!

My fitness pal.

In my trusty little baratric info binder they have all the weeks broken down and what you can eat. For some reason, mushie week has no examples of what I can eat. And I am just confused by what i've read in the recipes section because everyone says something different. What mushies are you allowed to eat? Some say no mash potatoes some say yes. I thought that since I mashed potatoes may be ok, that stove top may be ok. It didn't sit well, so I stopped eating it. I know things like oatmeal and Creme of wheat are on there, but I hate both of those things. I really don't know what to eat. Its really tough not knowing what I can have.

I am one of those people who needs to understand the why behind everything. I've done everything by the book and I have been up three pounds the last two days. I haven't had over 1200 calories and most days and under that. i am definitely having a calorie deficit. So I know this isn't true weight gain, but what is it? I know your monthly friend can cause it, but that's not for a week. I haven't had a lot of sodium. I know the weight loss should be slow, but at 1200 calories a day, I am expecting results.

I use my fitness pal! I love it!! I talked to my nutritionist and she told me I should be at 1000 calories so I am going to try that. I definitely need more water. That's my next goal! Oh and in great news, I can add even more foods. I didn't read my binder right. I have two weeks of soft, but solid foods!

I know I am not getting my fluids in. I would venture to say i am dehydrated. I am do used to drinking when eating then I forget to drink. I've never heard that would affect weight loss though. Although still not good for me.
