Not because of that. But yes, I bled from the incision at the top of my stomach where my Lap Band had caused some damage that required a follow up surgery and transfusions. I'm fine now, and very happy to have made the revision. I was right at 30% BMI before surgery, so maybe that was why I didn't have to to the pre op. I don't know.
-
I didn't have to fast before surgery. I also didn't do a pre op diet.

No explanation needed. He simply needs time off for personal reasons. If he chooses to say it's medical, they aren't allowed to ask.

Any Bakersfield Or Central Valley Sleevers Out There
Lianne replied to realtorken's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm Bakersfield. Who's your Doctor? -
My surgeon does not use a bougie. My sleeve isn't overly tight, but tight enough. He follows a specific line of veins on the stomach for measurement. Seems to work.

I wasn't really given any instructions. But I put a lot of thought into my letter. It was a full page typewritten, starting when I was 5 years old. it seemed to do the trick, no one ever questioned me about the contents. I gave starting weights, ending weights, and how quickly I gained weight back after each loss. O also put a lot of emphesis on the family history of diabetes, and my own medical problems. High blood pressure. elevated blood sugar, severe back problems, stress fracture in my foot, etc. Don't leave anything weight related out.

So Many Complications, Can't Keep Anything Down.
Lianne replied to RainyGirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had thrush, a yeast infection, blood transfusions, and plasma after surgery. Plus I had to have a second surgery to repair the internal bleeding. I wouln't wish it on anyone. But it really is reminder that this is a major surgery, not to be taken lightly. Mine was a revision from band to sleeve, which is the reason I had complications. But after all this, eight weeks out. I'm still very happy that I did it. My weight loss is completely stalled right now, but I'm extremely relieved to be rid of that Lap Band! I am wishing you a speedy recovery. Take care! -
Honestly, the pain is not that bad. After 7 surgeries this was the least painful and mine was a Band removal as well. My sister was also sleeved earlier this year with a different surgeon. We were both given liquid vicodeine syrup. She never even used hers though. I was also given pills to take upon discharge from the hospital, and it was no problem.

Shopping is so much better when you can wear regular sizes! I really look forward to my shopping days. I mean, we really DO need new clothes right? I can't wear my old size 16 - 18's anymore. And all those 1X panties went straight into the trash! But yeah it's quite common for people to transfer one addiction for another. Especially people who were true blue "food addicts". Shopping, drinking, gambling, and even sex. And only one of these is a good cardio workout, just sayin

That's pretty crazy to think that a size 8 is too big, really??? I think you look fantastic, and you have so much to be proud of! -
For Anyone Debating To Convert To Sleeve
Lianne replied to msaprildawn's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have Anthem Blue Cross. It covered my conversion from the band to the sleeve after 14 months. I sure wish I would have listened to my Dr and got the sleeve in the first place. I love that when I eat I feel full like Thanksgiving dinner full, it doesn't feel like food is stuck in my throat. I also love that I can eat all kinds of Proteins, meat, chicken, etc without issue whereas the band had me sticking with Protein shakes, and food that wasn't very good for me. It really just came down to me and my health. I wish everyone the best. -
I use it every day after my shower, it's great for the skin. Also works well in the bedroom Funny thing is, I've never tried it for cooking.

Sleeve Research
Lianne replied to BeautyVGSJourney's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I guess I don't qualify due to the fact that I had a Lap Band done before the sleeve. I tried ) = -
I just had to take my pointer finger nails off.
-
Yes it shows up. I got a copy of mine to save. It's kinda hard to see but it definitely there.

Vsg Surgery Recovery Comparison Question - Ladies!
Lianne replied to MamaTillson's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I also had twins via an emergency c section with a bikini line incision from hip bone to hp bone. My revision from Lap Band to the sleeve doesn't not even come close to the pain from that. Like maybe 25 to 30%. My stomach muscles just felt like I'd had a brutal ab work out at the gym, and the surface incisions had some minor pain for a few weeks. -

Foods That I Can Have With Tons Of Protein? Need Ideas My New Tummy Is Hating All The Protein Shakes. Only 4 Weeks Post-Op

I like to wrap deli sliced ham in provolone cheese for a snack in the morning between my protein shake, and lunch. Two wraps is about 20 grams. -
Scar Tissue With The Band?! :(
Lianne replied to alwayseating2012's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
How does the Dr know that you have too much scar tissue? Can you get a second opinion? I had my band removed, and the sleeve done at the same time. Why risk two surgeries when it can be done all at the same time. I'm so sorry for you. I spent a month unfilled and gained 15 lbs before my revision. -
If you get the band get real used to throwing up, and you're pretty much guaranteed to have a least one more surgery. Weightloss requires MULTIBLE adjustments in most cases, and there is no guarantee that it will work. It's a foreign body that you can, and feel attached to the muscles of your stomach. Check the statistics. I wish I had before I got the band. I find that the sleeve is very low maintenance, and easy to get used to. Not like the band that would be super tight in the morning, loose at night, and sometimes getting so tight that I couldn't even get water down. I wish you the best of luck.
-
I have the same insurance. They didn't require a 6 months waiting period. I was approved very quickly for both the Lap Band surgery, and the revision to the sleeve 12 month later (I got approved for revision t 192 lbs). The only things required were a nutritionist consultant, a chest x-ray, and phsyc consult, and blood work. Both times I had my surgery date 4 to 5 weeks after submission. Oh and I also had to write a letter about my dieting history, medical history, and family weight and medical history. Best of luck!

16 Mos Out...disappointed
Lianne replied to tntransplant06's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Wow, you've lost almost 90 lbs in 11 months and are unhappy? That's a huge amount of weight. And it fully fits in with the 1 to 2 pound weight loss a week that the Dr's are hoping for. Maybe I'm missing something? I would consider this a huge achievement. -
Are All Laxatives Created Equal?
Lianne replied to butterbean's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It usually only takes about an hour. So make sure your close to a toilet. I only use it at home. No cramping, but when it hits it happens fast. It makes it kinda watery, but it moves the bulk too. Very quick relief. About 6 ounces is plenty. -
Imagine doing 500 sit ups. Kinda like that. 1 week out and iI was done with the pain meds except at night. Less than two weeks out and I was back at work. it was much less intense that having the band done. Almost 4 weeks out and i have only slight pain at the incisions, but it's very minor.

Am I the only one that drinks Prune juice when it's needed? Man that stuff works! Prune juice-prune juice out! Easy as that! I also make sure and drink my Water. Good luck!
