Don't look at the needle! It's a biggie 0-= My Dr has never offered me any lidocaine. Every time I get fill I am amazed that such a big needle hardly hurts at all. I guess he's just pretty good at it. I HATE needles too, when my husband told my Dr that at my first fill, the Dr said "well then you got the wrong surgery". That made me soo nervous.

I had ablation done late last year to eliminate my periods. I had met my yearly out of pocket co-pays with my Lap Band surgery so i figured why not? It was a very minor outpatient surgery. I still get my regular PMS symptoms (which are minor) but the horrible cramps and the bleeding are gone! I couldn't be happier, and would recommend it to anyone.

Costco sells a great liquid daily vitamin, and it's very affordable. Reviva. It's sugar free, and has fiber to boot. Less than $20 for a two pack.

What To Take For A Headache?
Lianne replied to Loneil's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For Migraines I take a wafer that dissolves under my tongue called Maxalt (prescription). I also use liquid children's Motrin. For minor aches, and pains I take liquid Tylenol. I get the multi packs at Costco or the generic versions at CVS. makes it way more affordable. -

Dr. Ara Keshishian - A great surgeon!
Lianne replied to rbailey60's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Dr K is my surgeon too. He is very good. Although I wasn't entirely impressed with the Hospital in Delano, every person there that I had any contact with the day of surgery was absolutely top notch. He is very straight forward and gave me excellent care. My only concern is that pre surgery his staff gave me no instructions at all for after care. But I had 100% confidence with my Doctor. -
I'm So Gonna Make This Work! Confessions....

Good for you Kathy! Good luck! You/ve got the hardest part behind you (the surgery) now you just gotta work it. -
Wow, 100 lbs in 1 year and you're not happy? Are you healthy? I can't imagine a better outcome. any faster and you'd more than likely have complications, malnutrition, etc. What were you expecting?

We are almost like LB twins! I was banded 5/10/11. I've been fluctuating between 202 and 208. Down 40 lbs. It's driving me crazy! 3 month now. I saw my Dr today and he didn't do a fill for me because according to his scale I'm down 4 lbs in 4 weeks. I am eating small portions, and working out 3 times per week. So back to the drawing board I guess, something has to change right? I know that I do have to remind myself that this is not a race, it's the rest of my life. Slow and easy wins the race. But it does get very frustrating.

First Fill And Disappointed...
Lianne replied to Cyndie B's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My Dr does his own fills. He only had trouble finding my port twice. i am often sore for a few days after. But i've found that after loosing some more weight he tends finds it right off. Maybe the nurse wasn't very experienced with fills? i think I agree that you should request a different nurse for the next fill. -
I have a pretty physical job, walking several miles a day, even climbing over, and crawling under vehicles several times a day. I had surgery on Tuesday, was back to work the next Monday. I did pretty good, although I wish I'd had an extra week, the biggest issue for me was making sure I had clothing that was stretchy, and non restrictive. My Sister just had a sleeve done and had two weeks off...

I know that when one gives up one addiction (food), another one is likely to surface. At least sex is good cardio, good for the relationship, and not to mention it's lot's of fun!

Costo has a liquid high potency daily vitamin. It's very affordable, and liquid so there's no issue with getting it down. Plus it has lots of fiber. I actually like the taste. it comes in a two pack for less than $20. Lasts several months.

I Love, Love, Love the Isopure Smoothies! 32 grams of Protein, and they taste just like something you'd get from Jamba juice. No aspartame, no lactose, and they are really tasty. 210 calories for the berry pomegranate, 190 calories in the Orange Berry. No blender needed, they are ready to drink. Who has time to wash out the blender before work, right? I order them through Amazon for $2.88 each, free shipping. GNC also sells them but for about twice the price.

Pre- Lap Band Surgery Shopping List
Lianne replied to sandybraman's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Clear Protein drinks, like Isopure. Protein helps your body heal. I liked the V-8 Splash too. I had no problem with liquids after surgery, and wasn't even hungry for about a week. Only problem was the pain in the port site, but that was manageable with pain meds. Wish I'd found this forum before my surgery! I had no idea what to expect, and my Dr's office wasn't much help, had to figure it out myself. Good luck! -
Slow Weight Loss After Lap Band Surgery......
Lianne replied to jsea's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I started out 1 pound heavier then you. Surgery was May 10, 2011, and I'm just now down 40 pounds. More than a pound a week average, not bad. But yeah, I read some posts and wonder what the heck I'm doing wrong. -
Lap Band Removed Last Year, Still Vomiting
Lianne replied to Barnstormer's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think we'd need a bit more information to offer any help. What kind of problems were you having? What reason was the band removed? And what did the removing doctor find when he went back in? -
Seagulls, Cats And No Holes Left...
Lianne replied to cantbetoothinortoorich's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I hate it when I get stuck and puke in front of people! Worst part really. Weird about the cat thing. Mine did the same thing! Maybe they have some kind of sixth sense and can tell there is something in there, and that it hurts us. Post op he was a constant presence on my lap, even when I had an ice pack over my incisions and port area. Way to go on the weight loss ( = Keep up the good work! -
Limited To What I Can Tolerate To Eat
Lianne replied to LADYSUMMER's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Same thing with me. Banded in May, not much restriction until my 3rd fill in September. I cannot have ANY bread, lean meat, or most pasta. I have a really hard time eating anything for breakfast. Usually just have a protein shake. Lunch is also hard, soup works best. Dinner is my best bet for real food, but I still have to choose wisely or I pay for it. I'm hoping that after loosing 10 or more pounds my band will loosen up some or I will have to go in for a light unfill. Funny though I had very little restriction at 5 cc, but a 6 cc, I'm too tight. -
Was anyone bulimic before lapband?
Lianne replied to cantdecide's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think if anything, the Lap band would make a non bulimic person with out any history of bulimia into a full blown bulimic. I would go years with out throwing up before my Lap band. Now all I have to do is bend over with my head lower than my stomach and up comes anything in my stoma. If I eat anything that makes me feel uncomfortable it is easily eliminated. I was just thinking a few days ago how dangerous this would be for a bulimic. I realize I'm a little too tight right now. I had not even PB'd until my last fill in September. -
Help! Weird Lap Band Fill Experience -- Normal?
Lianne replied to WhitewolfCO's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
That's how my Doc does it. Places then needle, then I have to sit up and drink water to see if it goes down. Leaving the needle in place is painful, and I do tend to have some pain, but it allows him to add more or remove some if I have any issues getting the water down. After my adjustments my injection site usually does bleed a little and does show some bruising for a couple of days. -
How Long Was Your Lap Band Surgery Hospital Stay?
Lianne replied to Lanie M's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was home by 2:30 after having surgery at about 8 or 9 am.
