Valentine's Day Weight Loss Challenge
crzytchr replied to LilMissDiva Irene's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
After you create the ticker there are some "codes" at the bottom of the page. You need to copy the first one for forums, then paste it in the edit signature portion of your profile. (click on quick links at the top right of the page, then click on edit signature) To get more than one, you just need to create the other one and follow the same step. Be sure to preview your signature before you save it so it is correct. Good Luck! -
When did you have to pay?
crzytchr replied to IWannaBeSkinny's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
$82K!!!!! :w00t: And people wonder why we pay so much for health insurance. OMG what a rip off. I don't know of any lapband surgery that should cost much over 25K. Mine was around 17K. -
Trina, congratulations on your weightloss so far and changing your eating habits. If you feel you need another fill, go for it. You may, however, not want to get a lot put in. If you do have some restriction, you risk becoming too tight. Many people say sometimes just getting .5ccs put in is enough to tweak their band. Good Luck

Valentine's Day Weight Loss Challenge
crzytchr replied to LilMissDiva Irene's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Not updating, just whining. The scale hasn't moved in almost 3 weeks! Well, I guess I should just be thankful that it isn't moving up. -
Call your doc to make sure. You don't want to make that drive and then be told no, but I don't see any reason why they can't do a fill if you have a head cold.

How will fills be different than bandster hell?
crzytchr replied to als74's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
At what point did your plateau occur? I am at 6 months post op and haven't lost anything in the last 3 weeks. Of course, I can't exercise yet, because I am recovering from a hysterectomy, but I am varying my calorie consumption from 1000-1500 each day. I am not gaining, but not losing either. I don't need another fill, because I still have restriction and I am not hungry all of the time. -
It sounds like you dont have any restriction yet. It is possible for the fill to have not "kicked in" yet. Some people say they can't feel a difference until after a week. Until you get restriction, you won't have any real benefit from your band, and any weight loss you experience will come from a lot of work on your part. I am sorry you are hungry all of the time. That really sucks. If after a week, you still are starving, call your surgeon and see if he/she will agree to do another fill. Many people don't feel any real restriction until their third or fourth fill. Also, ask if you are supposed to follow any certain guidelines after a fill. Many doctors require liquids after the fill for a day or two. Mine doesn't, but I always read people talking about the liquids after a fill.

Gummie vitamins vs chewables
crzytchr replied to exumtam's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I take my vitamins with no problem, but I am not really restricted. If you surgeon says only do chewables, then follow his advice or try the liquid. I think Centrum makes a liquid for seniors, but the vitamin content may be fine for all adults. -
Gummie vitamins vs chewables

It hasn't gotten stuck yet. It is smaller than a regular m&m. You would have to purchase it online, though. They don't carry them in stores. I happen to have a stockpile with expiration dates until 2011, because it is the only ones my teenagers will take. They are One a Day Essentials (green box). The chewable calcium is yummy. Tastes like candy. They come in chocolate and caramel. This can be bought everywhere. Viactiv is the name brand, but most places have their own generic also. I like the chocolate ones. -

They make a liquid vitamin, but I take the One a Day Essentials. They are ones that you swallow and they are really small. For calcium, I just do the Viactiv chewable. -
It gets better! You will be thrilled when you get to full liquids, and then your first mushy meal will be the best food you have ever tasted. At least that's how it was for me. I had a scrambled egg, and it was the best scrambled egg I have ever eaten in my entire life!

When did you have to pay?
crzytchr replied to IWannaBeSkinny's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You will also probably owe the hospital where the surgery was performed. My supposed out of pocket was 2500, but my portion was actually 2700. I still dont know how that is possible, but it was worth it, so I just paid it. Oh, and yes, they asked for it upfront. -
Pre-surgery, need support
crzytchr replied to workingsahm's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
For my stats, I just typed it in my Edit Signature part of my profile. On upper right corner of this page click on quick links and then edit signature. To make a ticker, you should be able to click on mine. Go to that website and make yours. At the end after the ticker is created, there will be a code at the bottom. Copy the first one, for forums, and then paste this also in the edit signature section. Click preview signature to make sure it looks correct before you save it. -

Welcome. Congratulations on your 200 lb weight loss. That sounds amazing. Why are you thinking about having it removed? Are you having complications?
-
Jamie, I also have had no pain with either of my fills. I suggest NOT looking at the needle though. Just look at the ceiling.:scared2:

Pre-surgery, need support
crzytchr replied to workingsahm's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
My husband weighs about 155lb! He is wonderful. I am lucky to have been surrounded by very supportive people. But, I didn't do this for any of them, I did this for me, because I DESERVE IT! workingsahm: Tune out any negative people and do as you have been and don't discuss it with them. -
Congratulations on having an easy time on getting your surgery approved and scheduled. To get ready.... Have your post op Clear liquids and full liquids at home. You don't want to go to the store the first week. For full liquids, I really enjoyed the creamy chicken Soup. I added a little sage, garlic powder and pepper to it and it made it really yummy. Also, sugar free Jello and pudding is wonderful to have on hand. Make sure that whomever is picking up your pain meds has your driver's license. I think it is required now, unless the pharmacy already has it on file. You will want this when you get home. The 2 days, I would probably take the meds as prescribed to keep a handle on the pain. After that, Tylenol or ibuprofen may be enough. You may want to have gas X strips. Many people found these helpful. I was very thankful for the 4oz plastic containers. They hold a 1/2 c of food/liquid. It is perfect for your post op diet. Make sure you have someone stay with you to help you out of bed the first couple of days. Getting up from a lying position is not easy. When no one is there, try resting in a recliner. If I think of anything else, I will let you know. Good Luck!:scared2:

Protein bullets area liquid. The New Whey 42g ones are only 3 oz but contain 42g of protein. They are kind of tart tasting and thick, but not bad.
-
Well, all of the pbing can cause swelling which makes the problem worse. This is exactly what happened to my friend. Felt tight, but not really bad and by the time she got home she felt like you do. Unfortunately she waited until the next day. If you can not swallow Water, call your doctor now. They do not want you in that condition. Tell them you keep spitting saliva up. If they can unfill a little now, it may save you from having to get more taken out later.
-
And how do you feel now? Can you drink water now and keep it down? If not, please call your doctor and see if he/she wants you to go back to get a unfill, even if it is only a little bit. My friend went through this exact thing and if you are too tight, it can get worse.
-
GNC carries the New Whey 42g protein bullets. You can save be buying a case of 12. If you have a gold card it is 29.99 a case, I think. If not, it is around $36.

Total confused the more I read!!!
crzytchr replied to SoonToBeTheRealMe's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Your surgeon sounds kinds lenient like mine is. Just follow his plan and you should be fine. Oh, and be thankful. :tt2: -
Of course! Again, congratulations on all you have accomplished so far.
