Pb does mean "productive burp" which is basically bringing up food that is stuck. The food comes back up usually accompanied by lots of saliva (slime). Not pleasant, but not as bad as actually throwing up.

Question about mushies
crzytchr replied to Hackettsue's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Isn't that strange? I am the same way now. I had no problems at first, but after my second fill, sometimes scrambled eggs give me problems. -
Make sure you are getting enough fluids and log your food and drink intake into fitday.com or dailyplate.com to see what you daily caloric intake is. If you stay below 1000 too long your body will rebel against you and start to hold on to every bite you put in your mouth. It is really hard to get enough calories when you are first banded, or at least it was for me. Try those and see if it helps.

First fill on 1/29/09
crzytchr replied to Lisadawnh35's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My first fill was completely painless. The PA at my surgeon's office does them without a numbing agent. My recommendation is DO NOT LOOK AT THE NEEDLE! I made that mistake at my second fill. It didn't hurt, but I was feeling anxious. If the person doing the fill can numb the area first, you may want to request it. If felt "weird" when she was putting the saline in. I don't have any other word to describe it. You should be asked to drink water after it is filled. If the water doesn't go down relatively easy, TELL THEM. Don't leave if your band is too tight. That is asking for trouble. They may require you to be on liquids after, mine doesn't, but most do. Good Luck, and don't worry. It should be easy. -
Congratulations on being banded! When does your surgeon let you start mushies? My first mushy meal was a scrambled egg. I can still remember how wonderful it tasted.

New and a few questions =)
crzytchr replied to MrsCarr's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I too was freaking about the tube thing, so you aren't alone. The tube isn't put in your throat until you are out. Some people come to in recovery when they take it out, but I have had two surgeries in the past 6 months and I don't remember the tube for either one of them. -

I didn't puree those. Just make sure with the scrambled egg that you do chew it. -
What would you do?!
crzytchr replied to lookingtolose84's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Document your food and drink intake using fitday.com or dailyplate.com to see what you are actually consuming each day. If it is 1500 or less and you are exercising 5-6 days a week and aren't losing, then lapband probably won't help you. Something else is going on. Lapband is a tool to help people do what you say you are doing and not feel hungry. I also thought I didn't overeat, but when I think back now to the amount of food I was consuming, it was more than twice sometimes three times what I consume now. I just THOUGHT I didn't eat a lot. Logging my food on fitday was a real eye openenr for me. -
Most people have 4-5 scars I think but I have 6 from my surgery. One of them is about 2 inches long and the rest are about 1/2 inch. All of mine are visible, but a little better looking than they were.

Getting a fill today
crzytchr replied to krisann2927's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Getting the fill feels weird. I don't know any other way to explain it. After I felt a difference in restrictiont immediately when they gave me water to drink. Some people say it takes a week to feel any difference in restriction. You won't know until you get yours. Good Luck! -
Yes, I have seen people post who now only get fills of .25ccs or even .1cc. It sounds like your band just needs to be tweaked a little bit.
-
Well, shrink, if you are pg and even if you are not, it could be your body is holding on to Fluid. Try drinking extra Water and even some warm water with lemon in it. It may help your body release some fluid. But....pg would definitely explain the sudden retention of fluid.:scared2: Oh, and are you tracking your calories? You don't want to go to low. Please keep your calorie count at least at 1000. You don't want your body holding on to every last bite you eat! Oh, my friend who was banded two weeks before me just found out she is pregnant. She had to take fertility drugs for her first two pregnancies. She has a 5 year old and twins who had their first birthday last weekend. Her 45 lb weight loss fixed her infertility problem, although she wasn't quite planning on another! It is just a little surprise.

Congratulations on your decision to start over. So many would just give up and say it doesn't work. When you go to your doctor's office, ask what they suggest about food. You should be able to start off with 1/2 c food every 3-4 hours. When you get to where you are eating a cup of food and you are hungry before 4 hours, it is probably time for another fill. Don't forget about the liquids rule. No liquids for 30 min. prior to eating and at least 30 min after ( it is better to wait an hour). You don't want to push the food out of your pouch too soon. It defeats the purpose of having your band. Your fill may take up to a week before you feel any restriction, so don't worry if you don't feel anything at first. If you feel too tight, please go get some taken out. You don't want to start back off feeling like crap. Good Luck!

My surgery took less than an hour, with no complications. I had surgery at 11:30 am and went home at 4:30 pm. I think some surgeons require an overnight stay, though. Good Luck!

I agree with Beth. If you are weighing your food and making healthy choices, please journal your food on dailyplate or fitday.com to see the calories you are consuming in a day. It is possible you are starving your body and it is holding on to every thing you have. I always try to stay between 1200-1500 each day. Sometimes I only get 1000, but most days I get my calories in. But...still 10 lbs in the past 6 weeks isn't bad, especiallly if you haven't had a fill. Honestly, though if you aren't consuming enough food yet, you probably don't need one yet.

1 year in questions about fills and what happens next
crzytchr replied to zetajenn5's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You may need a fill. Somtimes it only takes .5cc to tweak your band to get you good restriction. -
How much have you lost July Butterfllies??
crzytchr replied to lotzasunshine's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am 6 months post op and have lost 67 lbs. I have gone from a tight 26/28 to an 18/20, and gone from a Lane Bryant size 6 blue right fit blue jeans to a size 2 blue right fit blue jeans. I LOVE MY BAND!!!! -
Here is my experience: had surgery at 11:30 am home by 4:30 pm; no complications, no overnight stay I was sore for about 10 days I didn't drive for a week, I probably could have after 48 hrs (let anesthesia get out of your system), but I didn't restriction on kinds of exercise and no lifting until after 6 weeks Good luck with your surgery. I have not regretted a minute of it!

Did anyone have restriction after 1st fill?
crzytchr replied to klutzyazhel's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Everyone is different. I had restriction just from putting the band in, and restriction from my first fill. I also have the large band, but only got 1cc at each fill, even though 4ccs is standard for a first fill. I am 6 months out and have only had 2 fills. My friend received 4ccs and felt a little restriction but didn't feel good restriction until after her second. Good Luck tomorrow! -
Water Consumption

I drink about 16 oz, 30 min before I eat. I don't drink anything until at least an hour after I eat. -
Being banded on Tuesday 1/27 and getting nervous!
crzytchr replied to catho72's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think everyone gets a little nervous. I was terrified. Being banded was my first surgery. Everything went fine and I have never regretted a moment of it. -
I got hiccups a lot when I was first banded. Now, 6 months out, I hardly ever get them.
