  1. My daughter is 17. She knows the pitfalls of dieting. My years of eating one meal a day as a teenager and into college led to my 75 lb weight gain when I was pregnant with her. When your body is used to living on 750-1000 calories per day and suddenly you eat 2000, you put on a LOT of weight. She loves food and does not diet, yet she is a healthy 125 and is very active. She fully supported my decision and sees what a wonderful impact this has had on my life and the life of my family. Isn't it amazing how a happier healthier mom can lead to a happier family?!
  2. I was allowed mushies on day 8 and by day 14 regular food. I am doing fine and haven't had any problems. Each doctor is different, I guess.
  3. First of all, don't look at the needle. Look up at the ceiling. Now, I have had two fills which required 3 sticks and I felt no pain at all. The first fill the only thing that hurt was pulling the bandaid off because she had to take a little out. It didn't hurt. It did leave me with a small amount of bruising, but no pain.
  4. The band helps with portion control. I feel satisfied on about a third of what I ate prebanding. I almost never hungry, so it doesn't feel like a diet even though I routinely eat 1200-1500 calories per day.

    How much weight do you lose??

    I agree. Slow and steady wins the race. Aim for 1-2 lbs per week loss. Don't go for a fill unless you completely stop losing although you are eating correctly, or you are hungry between meals. Big thing to remember, always be aware of how the foods you are eating affect you. Make certain you can eat your meats without problems. Journal your foods so you can always look back and see if you have a pattern emerging of eating softer/slider foods.
  6. I didn't do any spitting. The spitting could be coming from being slightly tight from swelling. Did your surgeon prefill the band with some liquid, because some do? If not, you may be like I was, and have some restriction from swelling caused by the surgery. If that is the case, just consider yourself lucky. I am 8 1/2 months post op and have only had 2 fills of 1cc each in my 11cc band. My stomach is REAL sensitive to being messed with.
  7. The nausea may be from the anesthesia. The watery bms I had for the first week. I just figured it was the "water in, water out" reason. It could've also been from the new whey protein bullets. Did the doc prescribed anything for you nausea? You don't want to actually begin vomiting. That would be really bad.

    If that were me, I wouldn't rock the boat. You sound like you are doing fine. I probably wouldn't consider a fill unless the weight loss stops or you start getting hungry before it is time to eat again.

    Any advice?

    This is what concerns me. If you are struggling to eat a week after your fill, you sound like you are too tight. Have you tried eating Protein? If so, what happens? If you aren't able to eat solids, then you need to call your doctor. I hate to think about you being miserable like that.

    Log your food intake and see what your daily calories are. It is very possible you need to actually add some more food. You are exercising and you probably need to up the intake to at least 1000 per day. I keep mine between 1200-1500 without exercising. Question: Are you drinking the shakes for convenience?

    Congratulations Charlene. I am glad to hear they are doing better. My oldest (stepdaughter) had her tubes tied today and I am waiting to hear how she is doing. We are in the middle of standardized testing and I can't take off of work.

    Congratulations on deciding you want to recommit to your band. Good luck on the month of liquids. It will seem like a long time, but the rewards of being able to use your band again will be worth it.

    E-Food Journal

    I use fitday.com, but a lot of people use dailyplate.com. I have also seen people talk about sparkpeople. I just use fitday, because I am familiar with it.

    I haven't lost in so long!

    Welcome. I have some questions: What are you eating now? Are you keeping a food journal? Are you able to eat proteins/meat without problems? How much are you able to eat at each meal? If you evaluate you answers to these questions it will show whether you are still a little tight and need a slight unfill or if it is time to get a fill.     Feeling kinda ugly...

    I feel you camikat. In clothing I look much better, naked, uhhhh, not so much. I HATE my arms. The swooshing sound I SWEAR they make if I wave at someone:blushing:. Now I only wear 3/4 length sleeves or longer. It makes me kind of sad that I am so hung up on body image that I can't just completely enjoy my weight loss and healthier body. Jeez, I am a mess. Hopefully one day I can appreciate me like others do.

    Did I make a mistake

    Until you get your fill, you probably won't have any repercussions from eating too fast. You just won't be as satisfied from your food. Don't make a habit of it, though. As the previous poster said, you will hurt yourself once you have restriction.

    July Butterflies Master Thread

    I broke out in a nervous sweat doing it, but I posted some almost-before and during pics and the before and after thread. I don't have a true before. One was taken and it was on a jump drive that isn't working. The before is actually about 25 lbs lost and the during today is another 50 lbs gone and 3 more jean sizes down. Oh, my grandchild is one month old in the first pic and 7 months old today!:thumbup:
  23. Ok, I don't really have a true before, because I only had one and the jump drive it was on is not working properly. So, my before is actually 25 lbs down and my grandchild is 1 month old. The during is today and she is 7 months old. I am down an additional 50 lbs from the first picture and 3 jean sizes.

    When to stop eating

    I fix the amount of food I should eat, about a cup, and eat that slowly. I am full. I may could eat more, but it would only be because I wanted it, not because I wasn't full. Try doing that. Fix your plate and eat just what you are supposed to have. See how long you stay satisfied.
