crzytchr replied to RestlessMonkey's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am calling it my bandiversary and it will be a year from my date of surgery. -
Sudden restriction 3 weeks after a fill?
crzytchr replied to ohjuly7878's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
It could be that your restriction just hit from the fill, or you may have become tighter if you have just had any sudden stress. Any time I have extra stress I have to adjust my eating. If it continues more than a few days, you should call the dr and consider an unfill. Sometimes all you need is a very small amount taken out. If you aren't pbing, you probably aren't causing any damage, but it would be awful to have to resort to eating like that for any extended amount of time. Good luck -
Labor Day Wt loss Challenge- Sept. 7th
crzytchr replied to kaninag's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I added myself to the challenge. I am hoping this will give me a kick in the butt!!!:tongue_smilie: -
You sound a little too tight. You probably aren't pbing because you are sticking to soft foods, but if you call and get a small unfill (many times .5ccs out is all that is needed) you will probably be able to eat healthier foods, including some hard Proteins. Please consider it. You will probably feel much better.

How often do you vomit/PB?
crzytchr replied to mandi78's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Ancha85, do you have nothing in your band now, or still 1cc? I know you think 1cc should not be too tight, but for you, it may be. Most people require numerous fills to find restriction, but some lose weight and never get a fill. I had restriction just from having my band put on and do not get big fills. I am only up to 2ccs and I sometimes feel as if it is maybe a little tight than I want. You may be a person who doesn't require fills to have restriction. Seek the second opinion and try to get something for the reflux. You shouldn't have to be miserable like that. Good luck. -
You sound too tight. Call your doctor and get an unfill. Once you are a little looser, you should be able to eat healthy foods again.

I too suffered from PCOS, but it was later in my 20's. I had sleep apnea and edema. My close friend and I were banded two weeks apart last July. She also had PCOS and took fertility drugs to conceive her first two pregnancies. 6 months after banding, she had lost close to 50 lbs, began ovulating without realizing it, became pregnant and is due in early September. Her twins will turn two years old 4 months after this one is born! :cursing: I am sorry those around you aren't as supportive as you need them to be. You are doing this for you and your health. You will find a lot of support on here whenever you need it. Good luck and check back in often! -
YAY! First follow up appointment today :)
crzytchr replied to TeganRheana's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congratulations on your weight loss! What to expect? You may or may not feel restriction, but regardless, take your eating slow. Small bites and chew it well. Don't try new foods in public until you know whether or not it will go down well. Good luck and keep me posted! -
Fish works really well for me, and I can eat shrimp also.
-
That doesn't sound right. There is no way you should gain 50lbs in 4 weeks and have someone tell you, you just need to adjust. Please call and let them know about the weight gain and swelling and ask to see the doctor.

i need some clear advice - please assist thanks

It sounds like you are doing great, but you probably need a fill. -
Chicken can be a tricky thing. With me, if I eat it freshly cooked and not dry, it is fine, as long as I cut it into small pieces and chew it well. I can NEVER eat it the next day, cold or reheated. If you don't have a fill, you should be fine as long as you chew well.

Isn't it amazing how our bodies just LOVE to ovulate once we lose weight. My friend who thought she was infertile (had to take drugs for her first two pregnancies) became pregnant 6 months after being banded. Her twins from her second pregnancy will turn 2 years old three months after this one is born! Her port site doesn't hurt and she just had an unfill at 4 months so she could eat a little more. Good luck!

I would rather have a root canal than vomit. PBing is not nearly as unpleasant. It is basically just your food coming back up, with a little extra saliva mixed in. I would rather not do it, but it isn't bad.

Hello, fellow Louisianian. Your HR department should be able to tell you the coverage you have. If not, any decent bariatric surgeon's patient coordinator should be able to call and see if you have coverage and if so, what requirements they have. My surgeon's patient coordinator had me an answer and approval in less than a week. If you need any more info, please feel free to pm me. Good luck!

Try Dr. Andrew Hargroder in Gonzales, LA. When I went for my first fill, there were patients from Mexico getting fills. I really like his PA, Holly who does the fills.

I also was banded with a really good friend/colleague. She had her surgery 2 weeks before me. It is really good to have someone you know personally to go through this with you. -
I was really naughty today...
crzytchr replied to TeganRheana's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I ate refried beans with ff sour cream and cheddar a lot. I also ate chicken salad that I made using the food processor. I used my food processor to mush up chili, stew, steak and gravy, you name it. My food processor was my best friend during the mushy stage. -

I am not too tight, so I can eat boiled crawfish, jambalaya, pastalaya, shrimp, and fried fish. I still eat most thing that I ate pre-banding, except I try to stay away from white bread. -
Rate of weight loss question

When you get to the last page after creating the ticker, copy the code ( I think it is the first one at the bottom) for forums. Then, paste it in your edit signature box; preview the signature and it should be there. -
Rate of weight loss question
crzytchr replied to amar63's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
It is realistic to expect 1-2 lbs per week once you have restriction. Restriction takes a few fills for most people. I was lucky enough to have restriction from surgery, so I lost continually for the first 6 months. Since then I have hit 2 plateaus, but still have adequate restriction, so I just need to exercise. -
UGH, I am 19 lbs away and definitely am NOT going to make goal unless I start going to the gym. That may happen since this is the last week of school. Since I haven't exercised hardly at all during my weight loss journey in the past 10 months, it should make a huge difference. We will see.

I have failed my band - SUPPORT GROUP
crzytchr replied to Tabithan's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
This is a learning process, we are not perfect. People make mistakes. As long as you learn from it, that is all that matters. Wow, I just realized you were banded less than two weeks ago:ohmy:, Was your band prefilled?
