Was fill too tight or slipped?

It sounds like you are swollen from being too tight for few days. It probably isn't slipped, but they will find out when you go in. When you start getting filled again, make sure they take it slow. How many ccs did they give you at that last fill?
  2. Jess and sharie, just wait until AFTER surgery. You are constantly having to buy clothes. It is, however, a little more fun to buy smaller sizes each time. Prior to surgery, I was in a tight 26/28, so I dreaded trying things on. I was always worried that the biggest size wouldn't fit. I am also curvy, so I went from a right fit blue size 6T to a right fit blue size 1T. I started wearing the 1T about 9 months post op. It goes kind of quick, so put money aside to buy. How long until your surgeries?

    First day post surgery.

When you get to full liquids, try cream of chicken soup. I seasoned mine with a little sage, garlic powder and pepper. It tasted so good that my daughter took some to work with her!

Surgery tomorrow and nerves are kicking in

When I was banded last year, I was 40 yrs old and had never had surgery before, so naturally I was terrified. Everything went well and I have never regretted my decision. If you are really nervous when you get there, have the anesthesiologist give you something to calm you. As far as the magnesium citrate, I have never taken it, but people in my family have. Most recommend staying close to a bathroom. You never quite know how it will affect you until you take it. Good luck tomorrow and update when you feel up to it!
  5. Acid reflux and asthma almost never present a problem anymore. I don't wake up in constant pain and I sleep better, because my sleep apnea is no longer a problem. Isn't it amazing how much better our body feels when we drop some weight?! I still have weight left to lose, I am still fat:blush:, but all of the medical reasons that necessitated this surgery are gone, so I am a very happy bandster!

    Mushy Suggestions?

If you are seasoning and baking it yourself, it should be fine. If it is prebreaded, it may not be flaky enough for the mushy stage.

    Mushy Suggestions?

It will be the best thing you have ever put in your mouth. It is amazing how good anything tastes when you have been on liquids FOREVER.

    Approved But... Need a Doctor

My surgeon does lapband same day. Dr. Hargroder's office is in Gonzales, but he does surgery in Gonzales, Baton Rouge (at Women's Hospital) and in Lafayette. I had a positive experience there and his person that handled my case took care of everything very quickly. Look at my signature, it shows the dates. From my first phone call until my surgery was less than a month. I could have actually had my surgery on July 3rd, but I couldn't take off work for the preop on that date. PM me if you want more info.
  10. I'm not in my 20s either, but dang this seems fun. Willow, I don't know about your 46 yr old skin, but my 41, yr old skin is out of elasticity. I definitely see some plastic surgery in my future. As far as rewarding myself. I buy more shoes and purses now. Isn't it amazing how many more purses you can choose from when you don't need to extremely long strap to go around you fat arm/body?! I constantly have to buy new clothes, because I am a teacher and I have to dress nice. I buy lots of shirts and have 1 pair of black pants and 1 pair of khakis. I started as a tight 26/28 and am now wearing a 14/16. As soon as I stop losing, I will begin saving for that tummy tuck!!!

so what good is the band if....

My band is my friend, because I am now in control of my eating. I eat 1200-1500 calories per day and I have lost 80lbs since my surgery. I have only lost 2-3lbs in the last 3 months, but I haven't gained anything either! I have NEVER been able to say that before. Any time I "dieted" prior to banding the MOMENT i stopped, the pounds came back and they brought some of their friends. I have gained and lost a few sumo wrestlers in the last 20+ years, and I am done with that. I still eat out and eat most of the foods that my family does, but I eat a lot less. I eat 1 slice of pizza instead of 3. I eat 1 biscuit at Cracker Barrel instead of 3 BEFORE my actual meal arrives:blushing:. I enjoy every bite, I just eat less of it. This does not mean that I think the band will work for everyone. My dad just had WLS on June 11 and he chose bypass. The band would not have worked for him, because he isn't disciplined enough for it. He watches me and knows that I still make healthy food choices (most of the time). He had a lot more weight to lose and wanted it to be a little faster. Good luck with what ever decision you make.
  13. I wasn't numbed before either of my fills and I didn't feel a thing!! It was completely painless.

    Mushy Suggestions?

I buy Rosarita at Target, but normally walmart will have the taco bell ff ones. Maybe yours was just out.
  15. Stay strong! Unfortunately, she may bring even more to tempt you. Have something on hand that you can have in case the craving get really strong. Also, you can politely tell her that although you appreciate her bringing enough to share that it isn't necessary and that you have no intention on slipping up with those kinds of treats. Good luck!

    July Butterflies Master Thread

Jeez, I eat 1200-1500 everyday. I consistently lost weight on that until 3 months ago. Now, I need to start moving to lose again, but I don't want to drop the calorie intake lower than 1200. You must have really good restriction to be satisfied with that. I am not willing to be tighter than I am, I will just have to move to lose, dangit.

    Mushy Suggestions?

This is my favorite also. I am one year out and I STILL love my ff refried Beans, low fat cheddar with ff sour cream. I eat it at least twice a week!! I also would put many things we cooked in the food processor. Ex: taco Soup and chili..both topped with the cheddar and sour cream. Also, steak and gravy and stew. As long as you blend the heck out of it, you should be able to have it. Just make sure you add extra liquid while blending to get it the correct consistency. I used broth usually.
  18. This is exactly what happened to me. A coworker 2 years ago was losing weight and she would just grin and say she was exercising more and eating less. I would compliment her on her loss and tell her how great she looked and I felt even more like a failure each time, even though I was genuinely happy for her success. Later, right before I decided to get my surgery, I found out she had been banded. I felt betrayed, actually. If she would have shared that information, I would have had someone else to talk to and maybe would have had my surgery sooner. THAT is why I tell everyone. If by telling I can help anyone else, it is worth it. Also, I don't want others who are struggling to think I feel superior in my accomplishments with losing. They know, because I tell them, it is the band that helps me to keep it off. This does not mean, however, that I think everyone should tell if they aren't comfortable with it. It just was the right thing for me to do. I just can't NOT tell.
  19. They are going to notice. If not the weight loss so far, then you not eating, and then eating soft foods only. If you want to continue to not tell, then drink Protein drinks during your post op and tell them you are jump starting a healthy eating plan. I, however, just tell everybody. I personally didn't care what anyone thought about it. What in the world would make them think I hadn't already tried dieting and exercising?! Heck, I have gained and lost a couple of sumo wrestlers in the past 20 years. In this past year, however, I have lost the most weight I have ever lost at once, and even though I have only lost a few lbs in the last 3 months, I am doing great and feel even better! Good luck with your journey and with returning to work.

    Stool softener

Honestly, actually being able to go was the only thing that helped. A glycerin suppository will make it easier to go without you having to take anything orally. Even if he isn't in until Monday, there should be someone who can take a call from you. I hate feeling like that. Later, after you aren't on the post op diet, using Miralax occasionally helps. You can't take it during post op, though, it requires too much Water and I just wouldn't recommend it.

    Stool softener

It would probably be ok to use a suppository, but only your surgeon can answer you for sure. I definitely wouldn't take anything orally without asking first. I always have problems after surgery and childbirth.
  22. Congratulations! That is amazing. I REALLY wish I would've measured before I had surgery, but I avoided all cameras and tape measures. Keep up the great work.

    An off day.

It happens. Pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and most of all, forgive yourself and move on. I know when I dwell on stuff it just makes me want to eat more. I hope you have a great day tomorrow!!!
  24. Doctors vary on the type and length of preop diets. I wasn't required to have any preop diet at all. Just nothing after 7pm the night before surgery. If you are really concerned ask about it at your preop visit. You will be doing yourself a huge favor if you concentrate on the things that are hardest for some bandsters to adjust to: taking small bites, chewing well and NOT drinking with meals. Good luck!

Going back to school/ recover time

Check with your surgeon, but you may have a problem. I know I couldn't lift anything over either 10 or 15lbs (can't remember which) for 4 weeks. You have to let the stitches around the port and band heal. If you are pushing and pulling on people, it may be too much. Call today and see what the restrictions are and for how long. Good luck!
