  1. Maybe if it has gone on for too long, they know it will take more being taken out to let the swelling subside. I am sorry you are going through this, but you don't want to continue on feeling this way. See if they will take just 1cc out. It sounds like you are ok with taking things slow. good luck

Congratulations on the sun!!! I woke up this morning and it is cold. Well, cold for Louisiana. It was while trying to get dressed that I realized I have NOTHING to wear for cold weather that isn't nice work clothes. Even my jacket/coat is nice. My sweater from last year are a 22/24 and I wear a 14/16. My jacket is 26/28! My daughter told me to get one of her dad's sweatshirts. Excuse me...but he weighs about 155 soaking wet. But, I looked for one and put it on and it fits!!!! So, I look junky, but I am in my smallest adult size in the last, ummmmmm, 18 years!

    Pjtp...again!

That makes it all better, though, huh?! Now when you bundle up to keep from freezing in all that snow you look like a cute snow bunny.
  4. I agree with Band Groupie, when she said you are too tight. I am not the person who wants their band so tight that I can only eat select things. I can eat most anything I want, even pizza, I just eat a lot less of it. If you are eating slowly and chewing well, and are still pbing a lot, you need to go get an unfill to loosen your band. The situation you described is NOT how the band is designed to work and I hate to think of you suffering in that way. Also, as I stated in my previous post, I have lost all of my weight so far, without exercising. I think I went to the gym for 3 weeks and that was it. I am not, however, a slug who lounges on the sofa. I am a 4th grade teacher, so while at work, I never sit. I circulate around the room constantly. Although I believe I would lose more quickly if I did exercise, even if I never lost another pound, I would consider my surgery as having a "successful outcome".

Thanks Kat. Cyberhugs are great. For now, she is on 7 meds and will start a shot on next Thursday. It is really expensive, but her insurance will cover it 100%. She also works full time, for now at a medical clinic, but if it continues like it is, she will probably stop. Luckily her insurance is through her husband's work. Her husband can't talk about it with her. I tried to remind her that it is the man "thing". They are fixers, and if they can't fix it, they pretend it isn't really broken. They just can't handle things like this. He is a wonderful man, but he absolutely doesn't want to go to the doctor with her next week, so his sister is going. My grandchildren are 5, 3, and 14 months. The doctor told her today she is really lucky she had the baby when she did. We are truly blessed in many ways, it is just that sometimes we forget. I plan on trying to count my blessings everyday.

And I was feeling bad from the flu?! I just got my reality check. My oldest, my stepdaughter, just called me. She had been feeling bad for a while and they were treating her for postpartum depression since the birth of my youngest grandchild last year. She has been hurting and went back to the doctor and he put her on xanax and a painkiller. She got out of the shower yesterday and the bottom of her legs were so swollen she could barely walk. Her sister-in-law called and took her to see a new doctor (female) who did some tests. She went back today and the doctor told her she either has rheumatoid arthritis or lupus. WTH?! She just turned 26 and has 3 small children. This put my crap into perspective real fast. So, my darling child is going to the rheumotologist next Thursday to find out which it is for certain. The doctor she went to is the rhemotologist's friend so she pulled strings and got her the rush appointment. It normally takes 3-6 months, but her levels(she told me which levels, but i was overwhelmed) were so high, he said she needed to be seen asap. Dangit. Ok, I am sorry, I just had to vent/cry some more.

Congratulations and good luck on your ps journey!
  13. I have had my band for 15 months. I have not exercised during this time period. I eat almost everything I want, just less of it. I still eat 1200-1500 calories per day. I also drink my Starbucks non fat latte almost every day as a snack. Examples of my meals when we eat fast food/restaurant. IHOP: pre band- 3 eggs/3 pancakes with a side of toast now- 1 pancake and 1/2 of a 2 egg omelet Chilis: pre-band- 1/2 order skillet queso with chips and 1/2 order of chicken quesadillas; 1/2 of choc chip paradise pie now-small cup of chili with 4 crackers and MAYBE 1/4 of an order of skillet queso with chips Pizza: pre band- 3 slices of a large hand tossed now- 1 slice (sometimes 2) of a small thin crust Cracker Barrel pre band-3 biscuits (or more, they are yummy) and then my entree now - 1 biscuit and 1 fish fillet with 1/4 c mashed potatoes These amounts fill me up and keep me satisfied for 4-5 hours. I will say that I was fortunate to get restriction easily and have very seldom had my band be too tight. It will take more willpower on your part until you get restriction. In the beginning, I measured out the amount of food I was supposed to have and only put that on my plate. The biggest difference I have noticed, is being able to KEEP the weight off. I have NEVER kept weight off this long. I would lose the weight and then, if I plateaued at all, I would start putting it back on immediately. I just recently from April to August hit a plateau. My weight stayed steady and I began losing slowly again in August. I can honestly say the band is the reason I was able to keep my weight off and not gain.

Wow, that was weird...it wouldn't let me reply without having Michelle's post from days ago with it. So, I deleted it, but anyway. Mom, it definitely sounds like you are too tight again. I have no explanation for it, but it happens. I would go in and get another small unfill. Rain! UGH! It won't stop raining here. I have 4 1/2 acres right now and it is all a sloppy mess. We can't even cut the grass it is so wet.

    A few questions

From my understanding, protein shakes should be instead of the meal. Personally, once I was on mushies, I didn't drink another Protein Drink. I get my protein from food and skim milk. I HATE Protein drinks, but I like food.

I have failed my band - SUPPORT GROUP

Try journaling for your own benefit so you can see where your calories are coming from. Are you too tight and eating slider foods? If so, get an unfill so you can eat better quality foods. I eat 1200-1500 calories each day.

    July Butterflies Master Thread

Hi, Elaine. First, congratulate yourself on keeping the weight you lost. The best advice I can give is to journal your food everyday. I use fitday.com, but there are a lot of places online. Find one you like, and use it. Examine where you calories are coming from. Are you able to eat healthy Proteins, or are you too tight and eating slider foods?

It definitely can. I know that stress can tighten mine up. Also, if you are sick, it can tighten. You should probably call you doctor and see about getting a slight unfill and have it checked out.

I eat 1200-1500 calories each day. About once every two weeks I go up to 1600. I do, however, try to make sure I get at least my 60g of protein each day.

I just put the junk on my fitday journal and I have consumed 910 calories so far and only 34 g of Protein. Ugh, that sucks. This means I have consumed so much JUNK today I won't hit my 60 grams of protein without going over my calories. HMMM, I guess that means I have to eat some more pork for dinner:wink2:. I just won't have any rice with it. AND I have to give the m&ms to the kids... The problem is the weather is crappy and we haven't left the house, so I am doing laundry, watching MythBusters and EATING! When I am going all day long or working, I don't eat as much. I am toooooo busy to eat.

I vote yes, but we all have our issues. Today, I can not get satisfied, for whatever reason. I have eaten a cup of grits, a handful of m&ms (ok, maybe two handfuls), 3/4 c of some rice and gravy with pork and a slice of whole wheat bread with Peanut Butter. WTH???!!! Jeez.

    Problems with everything! Please help.

You are probably still swollen from having the problems before and that is why you are tight at a level you were once comfortable at. You could try to do the 5 Day Pouch Test and see if the liquid stage allows you time for the swelling to subside. If you go through that and you still aren't able to eat and drink properly, you are still too tight. Please go in for another unfill, or you could end up having some problems with your band later. Please keep us updated and I hope this helps you feel better soon.
