Suzie, congrats on getting off some more meds! That is great. My mom has $800 per month of prescriptions. She hits the gap in her medicare by April every year. It is sad. My dad started ordering her non-preferred expensive ones from Canada and he is saving a fortune now.

Joyce, it is good to hear that your surgery went well. Keep up with your pain meds and walk as much as you can without overdoing it.

I make this about twice a month and love it! Taco Soup 1 lb of ground meat, browned 2 cans of chili Beans 2 cans of kidney beans 1 can of black beans 1 can of whole kernel corn 1 can of rotel tomatoes 1 pack of chili seasoning (if I put an extra can of beans or two or use 2 pounds of meat, I add an extra pack of chili mix) 1 pack of hidden valley ranch dressing mix (powder) Put the browned, ground meat in the bottom, then add the packs of mix open and empty all cans stir add some Water (about 2-3 cans) put on high for 4-5 hours, or low for 8 hours serve with ff sour cream and reduced fat cheddar (my suggestion, because it is sooooo yummy) I make this and then put it in the 6 oz rubbermaid containers. I just scoop in a cup full and then add a little more liquid from the soup. I did it this morning in all my containers, so I am set for lunch/dinner for a few days and I can freeze the rest.

WTG, Blaze!!!

I was allowed to start mushies on day 8, if I were starving, and after a test meal of a scrambled egg. If I could keep it down without any problems at all, I was cleared for mushies. I ate it, it was the best food I ever put into my mouth, so I proceeded on.:frown:

Joyce, I will be sending prayers your way in the morning. It will be over before you know it.

Click on my ticker and you will see the plateau from hell. I had to update with the same weight in January since it had been over 80 days:cursing:. YOU have a right to complain, but I don't since I only recently began exercising. I agree that adding a few nutritious calories a day may help. For one week, I would add 3 daily snacks. I would try either fruit or, if you want to low carb it, a couple slices of lean meat with a piece of cheese. Doing this for one week shouldn't make you gain, and it could jump-start your weight loss again. ME...I just need to get off my big butt and MOVE! Congratulations on your weight loss so far and your dedication to your new healthy living!!!!

If the pain has been immediately since surgery, it is possible from the breathing tube. Many people experience a sore throat for days after surgery from this...just a thought. If it is scaring you, then call your surgeon, but definitely keep drinking. Also, warm liquids may help soothe it. Oh, and you will feel the Water go to the bottom of your stomach since you have no food to block it. The liquid will go right through and since you are empty from not eating food, you are aware of it.

How scary for you. I am glad you are ok and now you know you may need a shower buddy..hehe. Or, at least have your hubby near the bathroom in case any problems arise. -
At first is the band empty?
crzytchr replied to ElizabethS's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon did not do a fill during surgery, but some do. I DID, however, have restriction just from the having the band placed due to swelling. If you are wondering if you are consuming enough, try journaling everything you eat and drink to see how much and where your calories are coming from. This will also help you be certain you are getting enough protein in. -
Wait, you mean reese's pb cups AREN'T a mushy....dangit. Actually I didn't crave them during my mushy stage, since the pain of surgery was fresh in my mind. NOW, however the candy of Satan plagues me terribly.

Time-wise, it depends on the insurance and, more specifically, your group policy. I had BCBS of La and it was approved in one day and I had surgery 3 weeks after my consultation. Mine was outpatient, but if there are any complications at all, they keep patients overnight.

If you can barely eat without vomiting, then you are either eating way too fast or too much OR you are too tight. I would think maybe too tight. Stop and think what you eat that makes you sick. Were you eating bites that were too big or too fast? If not, you should probably get back to your surgeon to check with him/her. You probably need a small unfill. When you are too tight, you tend to eat slider foods which are higher in calories but are easily eaten when your band is tight. Try journaling your foods AND drinks for one week to see where your calories are coming from. Be honest. You are either eating more calories than you need or possibly eating way too little and your metabolism needs to be jump-started. You won't know until you take an honest look at what you are puting in your system each day. What you don't want to do is continue to beat yourself up over it. Take positive steps to move forward and don't look back. You can do this!

I can eat shrimp if it is cooked correctly (NOT overcooked) and not reheated. I don't eat steak. Ribs give me problems and chicken sometimes. I can not eat meat if it is reheated unless it is in something like chili. I eat whole wheat thin pasta and I love it and eat it at least once a week. I eat potatoes sometimes and I love them. I just have to be careful. The looser you are able to keep you band and still lose weight, the more foods you will be able to eat. I can eat biscuits and pizza. I like my band like this because I didn't want to feel deprived. I wanted to be able to eat most of the foods that I want, just less of them and that is what I have.

Ok, you are absolutely amazingly CUTE!

I too, am hooked. I really like this show. It is a wake-up call for the CEOs. It seems to help them appreciate their workers, you know, the ones who actually get the work done.

drinking too much post-op
crzytchr replied to Awkward customer's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
5 lbs is good, since some people don't lose at all during this time. If you are satisfied with the 3 shakes, then don't drink more, but if you are physically hungry, then drink another. You are correct, that the band is not designed for shakes. Once you begin getting fills, you should only use them in the morning, if you are too tight to eat or after fills if your doctor wants you on fluids. -

You are correct, your waist looks amazing and your doggy looks cute and utterly mischievous. You got REALLY good results from that procedure. I am so ready for mine. -
Are you tight enough that you can't eat it? If not, have some of a cheeseburger. I can eat one of the little burger bites from Chilis.
