I am just beginning this process and have an appt to meet with my doctor to hopefully see if he will recommend me for this surgery. I have a bmi of 37 and my father has a lot of cardiac issues. I haven't been on a medically supervised diet per se but have spent the last 15 years of yoyo diets and many attempts to lose weight that failed I am so ready to begin this, like now. I was wondering if anyone dealt with univera and if they have special requirements like a 6 mos diet plan. I don't want to wait. I want to begin now. I called them and they said there weren't any requirements to fulfil but just that my doc deem it medically necessary. Any input would be much appreciated and might help my anxiety

Thank you! Sure will I can't wait -
Hi, I'm new here and just starting the process of seeking out the lapband. I have learned alot on this forum in just a few short days. I am anxiously awaiting and see if I get approval from my PCP so I can start the process. I have all my paperwork done and my insurance said that as long as my PCP deems it necessary then everything should work out. FINGERS CROSSED My BMI is 37 and until I go see my doctor on Monday I am a nervous and excited mess. I'm so ready for this lifestyle change and by reading all your posts am beginning to realize what a big commitment this is but I am so ready. Looking forward to starting this journey and excited about the changed hopefully soon to come. I hope my bmi being <40 doesn't prevent my eligibility. I'm 36 and after a lifelong battle with my weight am willing to take the next step. My father is 57 and has an extensive cardiac history, I am looking to living a fulfilled active life. My weight prevents that. My joints hurt and I have plantar fasicitis in both feet! Hurts constantly like a muther! Any input is welcomed and I'm excited about this, just wishing I could get it done and get started already, the beginning is like a slow climb up that first hill on a rollercoaster.
