    Introduction

Hi, I am new to the forum. I am having my surery on Tuesday, October 11, 2011. I am sick of the shakes and jello. I am excited but worried of anesthesia and overall OR complications. I believe this feeling is normal because anyone having surgery must feel this way. I have confidence in my surgeon. He is a veteran in this field but... My imediate family is very supportive, I havent told my extended family. I think once I have gone through surgery and a few weeks have gone by I might let them know or not This is about me and not them! I am looking forward to the changes... I am excited!!! Best of luck to everyone scheduled for surgery in the incoming weeks and moths.

Hi Melinda, Thank you for your response. I agree, my family would judge and not be very receptive. The would say I am taking the easy way out. They would also gossip if I didnt show immediate results. They are good people but they are quick to judge. Only two friends know and as time goes by I will share with the others. This decision is about changing my life and making the right changes to improve my life. I'm working on my PhD and the path I have chosen requires me to be at a "normal" weight. I dont have health concerns but I can see that changing in a few years if I continue gaining weight. I think its a good decision you made not to share with your family. I think they all react the same way they dont understand what a big decision this is! Stay focused! Best of luck! I will keep posting on how I do! I wish you all the sucess in your decision. Thanks for the support! Patricia
