  1. Just an update...I had another psych consult last week and this one went great! The counselor was super supportive and gave me some good points to ponder and even clarity on a few issues. I was there about 2.5 hours- a major change from my first "consult." I paid $130 for the first and $180 for the second so this got expensive but now Ive jumped through all the BCBS hoops (I think!) and submitted all my stuff to the surgeon's office. Thanks for everyone's responses and I will keep y'all posted!
  2. Congrats to both! I just sent off my 6 months worth of supervised diet visits at PCP along with psych & nut consult info to my surgeon's office. They should submit to BCBS this week. Maybe I will get approved soon and be celebrating with y'all
  3. Had mine today and it was awful. After asking me some basic questions, the therapist launched into her recent certification in traditional Chinese medicine posture practices for weightloss. She went on and on about this for probably twenty-five minutes, and about how it would be much less invasive to my "vessel." She ended the session by saying we were out of time, that she hadn't gotten everything she needed to complete my eval, so I would have to come back for another session. I thought I was going to have a stroke! I paid $130 for the visit (she doesn't accept insurance) and took half a day off work to make the appointment. It totally sucks that she used half of MY time to talk about her Eastern medicine classes...not to mention starting the appointment 15 minutes late. This is my last hoop to jump through, too. Got 6 months of MSWLP and nutrition consult and such. Very depressing b/c I thought I'd be done today! O suppose I will live but how aggravating!

So Sick Of Clear Liquids Already!

Conpared to what mine will be, I'm jealous! I'm still pre-op but my surgeon requires 2 weeks clear liquids pre-surgery then for a minimum of 10 days post op, then ONE MONTH of full liquids followed by 4-6 weeks of soft/mushies. I really was shocked when I found this out and have had thoughts of looking at other surgeons.

    Mississippi Gastric Sleevers?

Thanks for the replies, Ravenjah and Shae. I know of Dr. Carroll and won't be using him. There is a Dr. Cleveland at CMMC who performs the sleeve and I have been checking him out. Im comfortable with Dr. King but just wonder if it will be a big pain in the butt having a surgeon 2.5 hours away. Trying to do a cost-benefit analysis of having it performed locally by a reportedly good but less experienced surgeon compared to going out of town for a guy who has been successfully doing all types of WLS for years. I am so thankful for all that I'm learning from everyone on this website!

    Mississippi Gastric Sleevers?

Hey y'all! So cool to find MS folks on here! I'm in the Jackson area and am in the middle of my 6 month pre-op diet. Haven't totally decided on a surgeon yet but hear Dr. King in Oxford is great so I'm considering him...Anyone know anything about any surgeons in the Jackson metro? I am trying to find one that focuses their practice on bariatrics and has LOTS of experience Thanks for any input!

    Embarrassing Day!!

This has happened to me so many times. I have small legs and no butt and suppose I really do look prego since I carry all my weight in the front. Some of today's fashion trends don't help matters either. Try not to let it get you down- you are doing something about it so be proud!
