My husband had surgery on 9/28/11. I would like to find others who are relatively close to get together or just for support.

Sept 2011 bandsters
Lapsterwife replied to WannaBeSlimNow's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Janice! I'm hearing that you only have to be #50 overweight to have the lapband now, but it probably depends on the insurance company. Hey, almost 21 lbs is not bad...you can check a bunch of posts on this site and see that others haven't loss nearly that much. Just remember, everyone is different and you should be proud of yourself. Aren't you glad the surgery is over with and you don't have to go the wondering what it's going to be like anymore? Kathy -

I read on another lapband site that the best way to deal with the itching is to use ice. It supposedly worked right away and kept the itching at bay for quite awhile. Kathy -

Wow! What an inspiration. Aren't you glad you took those before photos? Please tell us what you eat...and how much at a time. There's nothing like hearing from a real success story. Congratulations! Kathy -

Hi, can you tell me how you posted your ticker to your signature? Thanks...Kathy -
Just a suggestion...even if you didn't measure yourself before being banded, you can still do it now. At least you'll have a reference point NOW. I know you cal lose inches without losing weight from my own weight loss experiences, so I took my husband's measurements the day before he was banded. I plan on re-measuring at the 1-month mark. Lapsterwife replied to BeautifulRapture's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Tiff, My husband is 18 days out today. He's 17 lbs. down. He's still on the soft foods for four more days. What have you been eating? It sounds like you're doing great! I bet you're really excited. Kathy -

Being just a lapster wife, I have not experienced the loss like you have, but I saw my husband go thru it a few days after surgery. I told him not to think about never getting to eat his favorites again...bread, pizza, noodles, mac & cheese, those things will just have to be modified. I will research and find a recipes for non-gluten breads, pizza crusts, etc. I found spaghetti and elbow macaroni made with rice instead that I will try here shortly. To say that you can never have these foods again is what causes you to want them so bad...deprivation. I feel this will give me something to do by finding alternatives for him that we will both eat. Good luck to you! -
We live in San Tan Valley and would like to find a group in the east valley. Thanks!

Swelling Down and Now I am Hungry! HELP!
Lapsterwife replied to clariv0329's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My husband was banded on 9/28 and is on his third week of soft foods. He's been living on high Protein shakes, SF Jell-o and pudding (made with protein powder), mashed potatoes, soups that have been blended (vegetable beef, bean w/bacon, beef w/barley and the chunky potato corn chowder) and frozen yougurt. This week he added cottage cheese, which he loves. I am going to give him refried Beans this weekend, probably thinned with Water, with some shredded cheddar mixed in. He's been getting the prescribed 50-70 grams of protein, but still feels hungry a lot. Of course, it could just be the habit of eating until you're full, but he never feels full. His doc is giving him a fill after he's been on regular food for two weeks. He has lost 17 lbs so far. Good luck to all of you! -
I'm so glad my husband isn't the only one feeling like he can eat anything. He is so hungry all the time and has gotten really disillutioned a few times and hoping he did the right thing. He will be 3- weeks post-op on Tues. and can start on the solid food. He's hoping it will stick with him longer. He has lost 17 lbs. so far, but feels like he would have lost that anyway just eating the soft stuff. I have my work cut out for me now...what to pack in his lunch? He's very picky. Anyway, glad you all are hear...I love to read your posts. Kathy
