My husband is actually the one who had the lapband surgery, but he is not a  support group/blog-type of person.  So, I thought I could be more supportive of him if I could get ideas/suggestions from people who have actually had the surgery themselves.
Mike started thinking of having the lapband surgery a couple of years ago, but finally decided he should do it now since our insurance is pretty good.  He had surgery on 9/28, so he is 11 days post-op.
As of today, his biggest complaint is being hungry all the time and never feeling full.  He had to get an un-fill the day after surgery due to not being able to keep even water down.  His first doctor's appt. since then is this Monday.  We are so hoping he gets his first fill so he can start feeling at least satisfied after a meal, even if it is still only soft  foods.  He's pretty much been eating just protein shakes, SF pudding, SF Jell-o, mashed potatoes and blended soups (baby-food consistancy), which he is getting very tired of.  Of course, every other commercial on tv is for pizza, burgers, subs or chicken.  He wants something he can sink his teeth into, but knows he has to wait another ten days or so before he can advance even to the next phase.  I see one of his problems being getting all of the water in every day.  He has never been a water drinker so it's really hard for him.  He also drinks flavored water, made with either nutra-sweet or stevia.  I'm trying to quit altogether with the nutra-sweet because of it being a chemical.  I'm very proud of him for quitting his diet coke habit about three weeks before getting banded.  I know it was hard, especially not having the caffeine in the morning to help him to get going.
I would love to talk to other bandsters or their significant others, so feel free to email me, kaw430@aol.com.
