Thanks everyone. I have not had my first fill so I think my stomach may be less sensative but I am doing all mushies and for lunch I had tuna salad and a little cottage cheese. Tonight I went ahead and made mashed potatoes and put Miller Farm Chicken sausage in the bullet and then mixed that in with the Potatoes with a little ketchup and salt.!!! It isnt too bad!! I did forget today to not drink with my meal so I am striking that up to old habbits. Thanks everyone. I go for my first fill on Monday! Ps I tries chicken in the blender and Yuck its sick. Im gonna try smashing meatballs tommorow! I have cream of wheat too which I loved as a kid. Cant wait for regular food.

Hi everyone, Can you help on my Puree Days? Do I stop using my protein shakes? I have shopped for some items like Cream of Wheat, Cottage Cheese, Potatoes, Low Fat Mayo, Tuna and some other. How do I know how much to eat or calories, Carbs and should I now be taking a Multi-Vitamin? Also, do I need to Puree the Cotage Cheese? Should I get 2% or Low Fat? My Dr said not to worry about calories or any of that stuff for now but I am afraid I am going to gain weight. I have my first fill on the 31st.As of now I just have like 1 cc in my band. Any help would be so awesome.

Starting back to they gym??
Miller.ted replied to KristinInCO's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am also a gym person. I was told 6 weeks but I will not go back until I am getting food, protein and Multivitamins in me. I know my body and if I started Cardio and weight training, I would probably pass out. I am going to wait at least till 5th week. I am walking and doing what I can to make sure I am back in shape. Best Luck and Please keep us updated! -
More than likely it's the same incision I had below my breast plate and above my rib cage. It's just a more sensative area I think. I just now have releif and I had on the 11th. I am about 90% better now. Hollar if you need anything else!

Miller.ted replied to lisa123's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was up and walking the hopital floors a few hours after. I would try and walk every few hours if you can. I was on med but this helped gas. But I can tell you I could not have gas relief until a few days after. Good Luck -

My surgery is Tuesday, I keep hearing how much pain Ill be in...is this true?!
Miller.ted replied to sheriah's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Most everyone has pain, it's surgery. They will give you meds post op as much as you need. Do not be afraid to tell them when you are in pain. It lasted for me about 5 days. They will send you home with meds and again, use them! When you cough or sneeze, hold a pillow against your chest and press, this will help. Also make sure if you have kids, out a pillow on your chest if they are on the bed in case they jump. You will be fine, its just part of the journey. Best luck and stay in touch!!! -
Tomorrow marks the day before surgery, all clear liquids only, how will I make it?!

HELP!!!!!!! WAY OVERWHELMED WITH INFO BUT NOT ENOUGH SPECIFICS TO BE VERY SCARY!!!!
Miller.ted replied to tartertwo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just start two weeks before unless insurance is makingyou do 4 weeks. The reason for this diet is to get you ready for the after dietissues and to shrink your liver to make it easier to get to your stomach andhernia if you have one. Most WLS patients have them. I did a liquid diet forthe first two days. 1000 calories. Then on the third day until the last twodays you can add a lean cuisine or similar less than 300 calories. This isincluded in the 1000 calorie diet. Then on the second and last day beforesurgery you go back on just liquids. My liquids were cream tomato Organic wasthe best tasting( onion Soup, chicken broth and Mushroom were alright), V8light juice, Crystal Light, Water Protein drinks twice a day. Make sure to getabout 60-90 grams of protein. Most came from the protein drinks. It’s not thathard to get the items it’s just the damn repetition. I would try and locate a nutritionistthat works with WL people as they know the plan and diet. Yes my nutritionisttried selling me their Amway crap. You just need a Multivitamin and try achewable or liquid option. I was told Do not take any Vitamins until 4 weeksafter surgery. Let me know if you have any questions. I am now 1 week post opand it’s not easy but the rewards are so exciting. I cannot wait until 6 monthsout or even better 1 year. Again, just IM me If you need any more info! -

Swelling Down and Now I am Hungry! HELP!
Miller.ted replied to clariv0329's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yep was banded on the 11th and now hungry very often. I am going to see the Dr tomorrow so I hope he will guide me thru the next few weeks. I have just been eating cream of tomato and mushroom soup, protein drinks, crystal light, water and V8 light juice. My pain is about gone minus I wake up a bit soar. The last two days I have been up and moving and going places but I seem so damn tired later in the day. I think its from the low claroie or misssing nutrients? You all have this as well? -
Two weeks out and feeling good
Miller.ted replied to BeautifulRapture's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Mimatvlv We were banded on the same day. I am going to my Dr Monday to get staples out and possibly a fill? I am doing just liquids but I can have creamy tomato and mushroom Soup no chunks in it. I am also drinking costco Protein shakes, crystal light and light V8 juices. I was doing fine pre op and just until a day ago. Now I am very hungry most of the time. I was told this is normal but for the love of god I want food! Hope it goes well and let's stay in touch! -
Hello this is Ted from Detroit, I just had my Large Bandinstalled ( LOL Installed) Tuesday. I am now home and feeling much better. Ihave been using the liquid medication to ease the pain and so far things aregoing as planned. I have yet to take a # 2 but told that will come soon…I havebeen on a clear diet and now I can have tomato Soup and anything that can fitthru a straw while not using one. I finally took the bandages off my incisionsminus my port as I want to wait another day or so. I think keeping a PMA andlooking a year down the road is keeping me focused but no obsessed! I have myPost Dr appt on Monday and can ask some questions that I forgot during our lastvisit. So now I just have to rest a bit, walk and get my Protein in. I amreally looking forward to my diet plan and getting back to my exercise! I have been reading allot of posts on this site and it's sad that a largeportion are not encouraging for people considering the surgery or need post Opsupport. Allot of people talk about hunger, cheating and mistakes. I was toldfrom the get go that this will not be the magic answer, it’s a tool to helplose weight and portion control. I am amazed that people had this procedure andare going back to old ways moments after their operation. In any case, thanksfor having me and I look forward to a great journey!

Yea I would call your Dr and get the liquid med. I think its Hydrocodone and it really takes the edge off and lets me sleep. I was in crazy pain from sitting up, walking and forget coughing... I am now feeling better but tried to go visit my dad today and had to go home. I think my mind was bigger than my pain. Anway, let me know if you need anything. I am really loving this site because we are all going thru this together and alot of people are way further than us. Have a great weekend! -

Miller.ted replied to "AmyRose"'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You should go see your DR asap. You should not be feeling hungy if you are following the plan and have your fills done. Remember how you look now and how you will look in a year from now if you follow the plan. Stay Positive and make sure to have alot of support! Good luck and let me know if I can help! -

Miller.ted replied to "AmyRose"'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
They are a combination of gas and pain from the incisions. Take the pain med's and try to walk. Walking seems to help me get the gas out! I too can't wait to be more active with my daughter! PMA is the key!! -
October Bandsters!!!
Miller.ted replied to "AmyRose"'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My daughter is about 23 pounds and I try not to lift her but sometimes I can't just let her reach for me and do nothing. I do keep a pillow on my stomach when she is on the bed and she already pushed on my wounds and it killed. I was told to not do lifting for at least a few weeks. I guess you will know when you can do more. Good Luck.
