Support Meetings True Results Houston
ELMO4635 replied to kittyforet's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was in for a "fill " last week and noticed a Flyer about the Support Group. They meet the last Tuesday of every month, at 6:00pm, in the Lobby of True Results. I emailed someone, and here is her response... looks like a GREAT Topic this month!!!! Dear Mr. Branham, I’m glad that you noticed the flyer for our support group and want to participate. The schedule is being developed and should be ready in the next few weeks. This month (on the last Tuesday of the month) we will have our very popular Protein shake and Protein Bar “tasting”. We are always asked which shakes taste the best. Since everyone has their own preferences we present a variety of the ones we have heard are the tastiest, lowest in carbs and most convenient. I am forwarding your email address to Betrice White who will add it to our list. I look forward to seeing you here in our 8th floor lobby at 6:00 pm on February 28. Sincerely, Ida Diamond FNP -
Good Job! Keep it up!! :-)

Nectar Protein Powder-Just Discovered These!!!
ELMO4635 replied to SarahStLouis's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Yes, they are pretty good. You can call their Customer Service Line and order a Sample Pack kit ($15 or so). Gives you 12 or so single-serve powders of different flavors. I think Syntrax is the Company Name... -
Feeling No Restriction & Tolerating Everything
ELMO4635 replied to lillieb53's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
LillieB, I know how you feel. I was banded on Oct 21st. But, for the 3 months prior I was working on eating healthy, and watching what I ate. I took it upon myself to work the diet, before even getting the band. I lost 30+ pounds just on diet and pre-op diet alone. Since then I have lost only 13 pounds, and not really sure what is going on. I am drinking 2 protein shakes a day (breakfast & lunch) and trying to eat healthy at dinner. But, I have NO restirction and can eat whatever I want, which is why I am not really losing. It is hard to not snack on un-healthy things, or eat more than you should. It is just plain will-power that you need. You can either do it yourself, or wait till you get a couple of fills, and throw up when you eat the wrong things. I know I don't want to be in that situation, but it is hard! :-) -
Ok, I am drinking 2 Protein shakes a day, Breakfast and lunch. At about 60 grams total, should I be worried about adding more protein or not? I keep reading about "upping the protein" to kick-start the weight-loss. Thanks!
-
So, I estimate that I am at about 1,000-1,200 Calories a day. The Shakes are about 300 each... and the dinner meal accounts for about 400-600 calories.

When I started on this jurney pre-op, I had several months to start my diet. I used to never eat breakfast, only a doughnut (or two) if someone brought them to work. LOL So, I got inot the habit of making a protein shake for breakfast, and then during my pre-op diet, I went to having a protein shake for lunch too... which has just stuck since surgery (2 months+). I never go out to eat anymore, and that keeps me from eating fast food during the day. :-)

You will be sore for the first couple of weeks, but now 2 months later I am back to normal. Dont worry about bending...
-
I am having no issues with hunger using the protein shakes...

Failing Home Sleep Study
ELMO4635 replied to Igoback's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It was the worst sleep I have ever had... failed it of course. Then was sent to do a in-hotel sleep study, failed that one too! LOL Don;t worry about it, go through the testing, get a CPAP machine, and get the BEST SLEEP OF YOUR LIFE!! :-) -
10 Lbs Down?Very Frustrated
ELMO4635 replied to skinnygrrlatheart's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can relate! I was banded Oct 21st, lost 12 pounds the first month, only 1 pound during December! I have the xl band (14cc) and currently have 51cc in the band. I am eating Protein shakes for Breakfast and lunch, and not eating that well at dinner...since I can eat pretty much anything. Guess I need to find the willpower to get back on track, and start exercising ! -
True Results Gave Me 1 Cc!

I have the XL band (14cc), and have had 2 fills... each for 2cc. I am not having any restictions whatsoever, can eat anything. Trying my hardest to stay in control! LOL -
Support Meetings True Results Houston
ELMO4635 replied to kittyforet's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I live in Sugar Land, had surgery in October. Never been to the Support Meeting, but I probably should go... not enough support at home. Holidays were brutal with all the cooking & baking... EEEEEK!! LOL -
Hey, had a question for you... Does Dr. Hollis fill the band when he installs it? I seem to remember him saying something about that... Just kind of curious, I am still on the liquid post-op diet till the end of this week, just curious as to what will happen if I eat something... LOL

I was banded on Friday 10/21, and was wondering about putting anything on the incisions to make them heal better? My Dr. used Dermabond (super-glue), and said to not clean it or rub on it for a couple of days... Did anyone put some antibioptic on it? Or what? just kinda freaks me out to not put any medication on a wound!! LOL

5 Days out and starting to feel better, but...
ELMO4635 replied to amanda_leigh78's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey Amanda, I am feeling better today... but, still go through bouts during the day of extreme tiredness. Yesterday was my first day back at work, and I only made it till about 3:30, and had to go home. It takes a while to get your strength back! AS far as the Ready-to-Drin shakes... I bought a bunch of the Cytosport Monster Milk ones. They are 20oz, and have 45g of Protein, sugar/lactose FREE! Got them from Vitamine Shoppe. They have chocolate, banana Creme, and Cookies and Creme. They taste ok....almost all of the Protein drinks are good, till you have to drink them all day long!! LOL -

Bashy, I had my surgery on 10/21... so I haven't yet made to a fill. But, thanks for the info on "missing" an appointment. I can understand your frustration, but I can also understand their side of it too. Just let it go, and continue on with your weight loss goals... keep your eye on the prize! :-) -
I don't like the Protein shakes
ELMO4635 replied to aswag's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have found that most of the Protein shakes mixed with Water, are pretty nasty!! I have found that they sell Almond Milk which is UNSWEETENED, and use that to make your Protein Shakes. Gives it a milk consistency without the lactose and sugar. As far as the actual Protein powders, I use the Syntrax nectar (comes in about 15 different flavors), and the Body Fortress whey Protein from Walmart (the Peanut Butter Chocalate is GREAT!). I have also bouoght some of the Ready To Drink versions like Muscle Milk Light, and Monster Milk... they are pretty good, lots of protein... but kind of expensive compared to the powders. -
2nd day out and not sure what is going on
ELMO4635 replied to amanda_leigh78's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I also had my surgerry on Fri 10/21. Been really sore in the abdomin, but haven't had any pains from gas. I wasn't really all that hungry in the past 2 days...yesterday I had a couple of Atkins Protein shakes, as well as, broth, and lots of propel Water. Today, I am starting to feel a little hungry this morning, so I will drink a Protein shake and see if that cures it. -
