Just think, this time next year we will be slimmer, fitter, and hopfully happier  I'm not sure what the answer is, a hot bath, or doing your craft projects (I used to love making things) Hey great idea shine on re poster board! -

I quite agree Lunasa and Jennifur, Finding a process is the next step after surgery. I have heard of NLP, I looked into it once (I remember 'anchoring' techniquics). Sorry if I went a bit 'deep' earlier, guess I was sharing how I got into my own situation, and its weird, this week my youngest daughter and hubby had a discussion with me about it, its strange how you dont see yourself changing, but others do, and can pin point exactly when!! Scary!! But like you said, thats the past, done and dusted, and now Im ready to open a new door into the future... Hey, why dot we set ourselves goals? You know, like nice treats (& I dont mean food, LOL!) Every stone (14lbs) we lose we could buy ourselves something really special as a reward ....in fact Ive got my beedy eye on a gorgeous pair of earings I like, so when I lose my 1st 14lbs, I'll buy them  What do you think? Its a good motivationer? I've got 100lbs to lose...so thats 7 targets goals, lol, better start saving now!! -

Hi Lunasa, Yes it do understand what you said. In fact the last 7 years of my life Ive been hibernating, I have changed, l've lost confidence too. 7 years ago, I embarked on a masters degree, I was working full time too, and working away from home from my family every week. my employer at the time insisted I had to get 2 other diplomas too needed for my then job, so in a 3 year period I worked full time, got a masters degree and 2 diplomas put on 4.5stone (thats 63lbs) and lost my 'life' in otherwords I became workaholic and lost what it is to live, if that makes sence. I find it difficult to go out in the evenings, motivate myself to met people out of work, and Im tired when I get home from work, cook dinner and then flop. This op is just the start of changing me, going back to the old me, a little wiser I hope but the person I once was a long time ago, .....I think I need councelling support too you know.... This is just the begining for us, 'The journey' we all must have had things happen to us in our life which changed us, and we turned to food for comfort  We will suceed...... Hugs Sara x -
OMG thats great MV, thats nearly 2 stones in 6 weeks!! I have my surgery on Monday. Its so encouraging to hear your success!

Aw thanks Jennifur, I cant seem to think straight at the moment, Im so excited, yet 'hyped up' Ive lost my irritable phase, but my concentration for anything at the moment is deminishing. I'm hoping this document I have (must) to write will take my mind off things. Last night I was surfing all of the lap band sites, avidly reading up on it again, I watched a TV programme this week too of this girl who had a gastric stomach stapeling, I know ours isnt like that, but I saw the laprascopes in her tummy on the TV and thought, OMG...thats going to be me on Monday, and I know it will be uncomfortable for a few days etc...but its after Jennifur, thats what I need to conquor.....changing myself..'inside out'....and not having food as a comfort... I know we will succeed....but as time gets closer, and the more I think about it, and contemplate it....the more emotional Im getting. Sara x -

Wow Tracy you are lucky, to have such a lovely boss! (can we share him! lol) When I was researching for holidays, I thought it looked such a beautiful place. I'll only nearly be 3 months post op when we go to Mexico, I wanted to go towards the end of summer, but my daughter and hubby said no, they wanted to go even earlier than the date I booked, like you I wanted to be 'slimmer' before I went and bared all on a beach, I hate people looking at me in a swimming costume, and I contantly wear a sarong, which is sad really. As far as time goes now, I thought I better be sensilble re diet now, earlier in the week, I had a rebel streak, and felt I ought to eat whatever and when ever I wanted, silly really, as Im only making it worse for myself now. Ive only got 3 days from today till I have the surgery, Ive got a massive report to write which should keep me occupied over the next 3 days, and on Sunday get the house clean and tidy. This is a massive step were all taking, I know weve made the right desicion, otherwise we wouldnt be 'here' but blimey....as the op draws closer, Im getting a bit nervous, last night I had 4 episodes of breathlessness gasping for air, its like my body is in panic mode now? Have a great Friday everyone. Hugs Sara x -

What to expect in the first year after banding
Sara Mos replied to anon's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thanks for this thread anon, must say it does put things in perspective on what to expect after surgery. Be prepeared for frustration after too...I have read others say about the 'inbetween time' of surgery and your first fills and more besides. Its a shame the Drs dont fill the band up to your own level the first time they do it, but then I guess problems may happen if they do. Dont know about you guys, but Im practically hooked on this site now, as surgery looms closer! My hubby (I now call him a DH on here as thats what everone else calls there other halfs, lol, thinks I have some sort of cyber person I talk to all the time!) Because when ever I have a spare minute Im loging on! LOL.... -

Thanks Sophie, and I love that quote too by anng. This morning I woke up and felt a lot better...'no grummy feelings!' Over the yrs I have bought about 15 + diet books, and I looked on my shelf, and found one I hadnt really read similar to the ones you quoted, its called: Overcoming Overeating (conquer your obsession with food) by Jane Hirschmann & Carol Munter. I bought this book yrs ago, so Im finally gonna read it. Thats a really good tip, reading about why we over eat whilst recovering from the op, and after, so you address the emotional leavel, as well as the physical level. Hi Scarlett, yes I am english and live in the UK, I live in Dorset, in the sticks. I live in a place called the 'Purbecks' near corfe castle and Swanage, by the sea and the Purbeck hills, but I work all over the South West of the UK (Dorset, Hampshire, Devon, Somerset, Isle of Wight etc). Where did you used to live here? Kyethra, I agree being nice to my DH is needed badly at the moment, I have been awful to him lately, its not done on purpose, but I have been really tetchy, and irritable. I woke up this am though feling much better, hopefully once this weeks out of the way, I will be back to my old normal self!! Love Sara xx

Good Morning Bandsters!!!!!! Today is the first morning Ive woken up without feeling gloomy! (thank goodness!) I love reading all of your posts! LOL, dont think I'll be going for the tattoo's or pericings though, if I do get slimmer! My youngest has her belly button periced, I was with her when she had it done several yrs ago, I nearly fainted!! Today hoping to go on a walk with my mum n dad, n DH, we live near some beautiful walking areas by the sea (in the Purbecks) so I looking forward to that. My M&D are going to South Americia on Tuesday for a couple of weeks, so they wont be here when I go into hospital; mum bought me a sweet little tolietry holdal with goodies in it (beauty products), I think Ive got everything now, except so magazines, which I'll buy next Saturday. Just got to get through this week now working away Mon & Tues, then in another county working on Wed, & Thur & Fri at home writing a report....then...thats it...leave home at 8am next Monday.....Im really excited now folks, its a weird feeling, I feel like Im going to get some sort of a present....if that makes sence?? My answer to my prayers? I certainly hope so, I know its not going to be easy.... I wish we could all meet up, like a weekly meeting, in a gorgeous coffee house (like friends did, lol) and just talk for ages.....I'll have to pretend this is our cyber 'friends coffee house!' without the comfy seatees!! Love Sara xx -
Anon, I know your right, I'm just getting a bit uptight at the moment, the nearer the date comes the more Im getting irritable, my poor DH gets the brunt of it too...poor soul... Sophie, I need to order those books, you know, even though Im morbidly obese, the weird thing is I ignore it, like I know I am, but I dont feel it inside, and I need to work out and understand why I turn to food, it must have come from my teenager years, I left home at 16, as I had to go to colleage and my parents lived abroad....then my nan died, and I had no one in the country where I was living in, well I think a culmination of things actually..... Sorry for the ramble, but trying to understand why I am where I am now is deep I guess

Sara Mos replied to TracyinKS's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Good Morning all :welcome: to Dave, Pat & katshai, hey your definately doing the right thing here, we all are,. The actual op I'm not to worried about, I know we'll discomfort from these gas pains after (air trapped in our bodies after the laproscope) and its got to get out somehow, but its the 'ever after'bit Im woried about....the eating part... Maize and Kity...hey Im there with you re pre op diet hell....I have broken the liquid diet yesterday I felt so nauseas, I had an omlette in the end, I agree the packet stuff is disgusting (I'm using up the lighter life stuff that I followed on a previous diet) so Ive reverted to having shakes am, and lunch time and a small meal pm now. Once this next weeks over and our surgery is actually happening, Kity, maize, Pat, dave, heather, Terri...we will all be a lot more releived...ha ha..it will be done!! Then our new life begins... :help: -

LOL! Ok Tracy, but your garden will look good! Kity...I will ya remind you next week, your lookin amazing on those shakes! I spent a small fortune today on my youngest's B'day! Oooo bought a new pink dressing gown too, and some fluffy pink slippers for the hospital op, and some slim fast powders (banana & strawberry)...Oooo and 2 books too, so I can take one into hospital with me, have everything now ready except a heat blanket, I dont know where to buy one over here, maybe there only in the US? Hiya all Ive just read the April 06's new thread, I dont often cry much, but I'm blubbing away here, I cant belive how wonderful they all feel and their acheivements, Oh gosh I wish it were this time next year now, I know the journey is the 'fun' part but I so want/need to change, why didnt I do this sooner? Why have I been so 'blind' all these years, Im ashamed Ive ignored how I look, how I respond to life's crises, and put on more weight... sorry folks....I feel like Im at an ending of a cross roads here, changing who I am and who I need to be (true self) I ended a situation today at one of the places I work in too, I told them Id had enough etc and felt a huge sence of release...only to come home to find a few e-mails from certain officials that they are suddenly intrested in all of the work I have been doing...its time I started cutting off from situations/people that drain me Gawwwwwwd....sorrrrrrrryyyyyy
