Morning All, LOL, I cant lie in bed anymore! Im up at 05.30-6am now I think its the Port site which pulls. Im desperate for a shower, has anyone had one who had surgery this week yet? (sounds awful doesnt it!!) Hey I'm so pleased everyones doing ok after surgery this week, keep posting everyone and let us know how you are all feeling. I need to get out today ( have to put some fitted clothes on, OMG my hubby suggested going out and trying to find me a kaftan.....holy molely I nearly died...so I said no its ok, Ill just wear a summer dress with a cardie..!) Today I start on sloppy food (porriadge, soup, yougart) so I'll see how I get on. Keep drink water everyone!! Oooo guess what I got on the scales this am and Ive lost 5lbs since Monday

Hey this thread is great! As from this Saturday I'll be on sloppy food, so I need some ideas! Keep up with food suggestions folks!!

PAM Im so pleased your feeling better, every day you'll feel better and better!! I did laugh about the toliet tongs...I do know what u mean though, although by day 3-4 you should be ok. Laura if you can find a 'house dress hon' buy it! Im still in a nightie, Im kind of hesitant to put any thing tight around me. Dave GOOD LUCK TODAY! Dear All, Thanks for your encouragement! I feel a lot better today, wow it was a lot more painful than i thought though! My breathings a lot better today, it was like something cleared inside my lungs. Ive started walking a bit more now, still mostly drinking Water, but have had a few small Soups too. Looking forward to losing the weight now!!! Love Sara x

Hi Folks, Shineon and Jay, I'm so pleased your ops went ok. Thank you all for your kind posts after. Just to add, I feel soooooo much better today, Im practically back to my old self now (well apart from eating!!) Dunno about all of you guys, but I do keep thinking about food, I mean Im not hungry or anything, but I cant stop thinking about it!! Aaaaaa!! Re pain meds after surgery Laura: My hsp gave me some, but I also bought some soluable stuff too just incase. Ive been given Berocca effervescent Vitamin and mineral tabs (I start taking them tomorrow). Good luck to all of those having surgery tomorrow xxxxxxxxxxx Sara x

Hi Terri Thanks hon, I feel a lot better, gonna try and walk around the garden today. Tell ya, I feel sorry for elderly folks, sitting around in chairs and beds all day can give you bed sores, my backside even was aching after day 3 of sitting on it all that time, lol!! LOL, yep they do say 'Gosh darn it' over here, I'm so pleased your ok Terri after your op, I hope everyone else is, I havent read all of the posts on here yet. Look after yourself, Sara x

Dear All, Sorry Ive not posted properly. Today is the first day (4 days post op) I'm actually breathing normally again, and the way you described the op Terri (i.e like you'd been in a major car wreck I can so relate too). Had anyone actualy really expained what to expect, Im not sure I would have gone through with this, my family god love them have been watching over me since Monday. Ok this is what happened to me: Monday: left home at 8am. Got to the Hsp at 10.15, pre op tests (ECG, BTs, BP, etc done) admitted to ward. Beautiful room with gorgeous views, family went off into the city, and came back at 1pm with flowers cards etc, bless them. Consultant came in and chatted a bit, signed consent form etc. Met consultant anethatist, pretty wacky bloke in a red shirt, yellow jumper and very zaney from what I can recal? Given some tablets to take pre meds: at 1.45 walked into the anasthic room with a chatty sweet nurse, I was so nervous, I held her hand and asked to stay with me till I went under. Next thing I know I woke up in recovery, Id actually wet myself, as they were trying to get my paper knickers off, I was so embarrased, and so in pain, then I passed out again and got back to my room where my family were at at 5.45pm, they were understandably worried. The consultant told them, Id had some complications with my liver (it is big and fatty- & no I didnt do a stricy pre op diet as I wasnt told too). But the surgery had been successful apart from that. Well I driffeted in and out of sleep,boy was I in pain!! I stayed in over night, in the end I managed to get up and sit and float in and out of sleep in my chair. My breathing was bad (I am a smoker - down to 10 a day...none now I might add!!!!!!) Tuesday: Came home today at lunch time really difficult to get in the car, Ive never seen my hubby drive so slowely! Unable to talk much as so breathless: still have my TED stockings on (venous support). Driffeted in and out of sleep all day, dont remember much.... Wednesday: loads of people called n sent flowers, couldnt talk to them as still breathless, pain in my tummy is not as bad, tummy still extended with gas. Blimey...I am beging to walk a little more. Just on water and sips of tea feel a bit weak, but gradually getting better. Taking Zoton (PPI - for acid) and paracetamol liquid which tastes disgusting orange sickly flavour. Thursday:OMG I can breath properly again!!!!!!!!! ALLELUJAH, and I managed to get out of bed myself ok, and talk again!!!!! My tummy isnt so bad (re pain wise) I can still feel it pull, but its nothing like it was...Im on the mend I had a small glass of babanana slim fast (only managed about 70mls then felt full) so Im gonna try and build up my strenght a bit. I'm so pleased its over, now and Im feeling a lot better. Love Sara xxxxxx

Well I had my surgery on Monday, god I ache like hell. I was in theater for 3.5 hrs, apparently they had some complications cos my liver is so big . All I know folks Im pleased to be home, cant breath properly yet, more of a shallow breathing, jut been sleeping and sleeping! Sara x

I thought Id do a quick post to say Im back. I was in theater for over 3.5 hrs, Im VERY sore, my liver was big and caused complicatuions, but was successful in the end. I sure hope you ALL have someone to look after you all at home folks, Oooo I cant wait to feel normal again and have no pain. Sara x

Well guys, I'm having my surgery on Monday, so wish me luck! I thought I was going to originally be a March bandster, but I tell you what, this month has flown by hasnt it! I've gained a lot of knowledge from you all over the last month, on how you have coped with the surgery, and your recomendations on managing the pain and the post op diet, so thank you all.....its been quite a journey, and I'm just about to get on the 'ride' with you all. LOL, thanks lunasa, I think Ive done something wrong, as its now on all of my messages!! I'll remove soon. It was taken in the Maldives, Dave and I went there for our 20th wedding anniverasry, and it was my 40th too, so kind of special. I should be back home on Tuesday, all being well, I leave home at 8am Mon am, if I'm up to it, I'll log on, on Tuesday just to say that Im still alive! Good Morning All Thanks Judy for your supportive words, bless ya... Panda your pics are lovely, and Shineon I'll get my youngest to take a couple of pics tonight, of a before shot! Last night, hubby and I went out for a meal, we had an indian meal, it was lovely at the time, but half the night I was so uncomfortable, severe me right for eating too much!! Also gettin really bad sleep apeona again, its worse when Im stressed I think? (waking up gasping for air) my hubby has gone up to visit his parents, his mums not too well, so he wont be back till tomorrow lunchtime, and my youngest is working (w/k job) so Im all on my lonesome today. Got to clean the house at some point, Have a great Saturday!

Oh God Medge, I hope your pain subsides, and you feel a little better today. I will pray for you hon. Reading all of the March bandsters posts, it looks like after a few days it does get better, so hang in there!

Dear All, Thanks so much Saggi, wow you are near Winchester, I'm about a 2hr drive away (live in the Purbecks) thank you for offering to come and visit me, thats so sweet of you! I'm lucky as hubby and my 2 children are coming up with me on Monday, and will wait around, they'll probably go and visit the city there, then hubby will pick me up on the Tuesday. Poor you, going all the way to Belguim on your own, and with a painful foot too. Well I am nervous guys. Today I went out and bought £10 worth of magazines for hospital, lol, my kids will probably appriciate them!! I've recieved loads of phone calls and e-mails wishing me luck for Monday from my friends and work colleauges which is real sweet. I went out and bout £10 worth of magazines to take with me!! I've just got to pack now on Sunday. I met a friend for lunch, and she gave me a little present to open up after my op, everyones been so lovely.... Ive just got to get through this weekend....
