Hi All! Good Luck to all of you having surgery again this week!! (Bubbles and Jill) let us know that your back safely and everythings ok wont you! I wonder how there others are doing? Teachlady and everyone, hope theyre all ok. Well yesterday I made a lasanga for my mum n dad (as they are back fron there holiday soon) and I made up one for hubby too, anyway I succombed! I had too small bowlfulls, I felt really naughty (it was sloppy but calorific or what!!!!!!!!) I wont make that again, its just too tempting, but oh my it tasted divine!! Ok (for us ladies :biggrin1: ) well someone gave me a fabulous idea to mark my weight loss and journey over the next coming year(s) until I reach goal. Well someone suggested a charm braclet and every 7lbs I lose add a new charm. Well, several months ago 2 work collegues bought these sweetie braclets (sliver ones) and they are just goegeous, so I looked up who made them and discovered they do charms too!! So on Saturday Im gonna go and buy the braclet, they stock them in a nice designer jewelry shop about 30 min drive away in a country town, and then (HOPEFULLY!!) every month go back and buy a charm, what do you think, I'll show you the link!! It is a bit expensive at £98.00 but Im worth it!! LOL http://www.linksoflondon.com/online-shop/women/charms you can even play around on this web site and design your own design I love it!!! Whats everyone else going to do to mark each step of their weight loss journey? Hugs Sara

Hi everyone, Well I'm getting back into my report writing from home today, and boy oh boy is it painful (mentally taxing!)....Aaaaaaaa!!! Panda: You look so pretty, your gonna WOW em all, your hubby will have to fight the blokes off you! Pam: Well my dietry intake is about 650-700 cals a day, and quite frankly the mushie stage is Boreing...but its better than just fluids, so I cant complain. I think my trouble is Im not adding enough varity into my diet, everything is liquidised, or very 'watered down' into baby kind of food. Typical day looks like this so far: Breakfast: 1 weetabix with milk & sweetner OR 100-150 mls of porriadge OR 1 yougart Lunch: Small tin of soup OR Small pot of cottage cheese with pinapple (yum) OR scrambled runny eggs made with milk too & a bit of greated cheese on the top OR Mullar low fat strawberry rice pot Dinner: small amount of mashed potatoe & carrots & cottage cheese OR Soup again :think OR liquidise what my family are having, into a soup Snack: Low cal yogart with a compot (stewed fruit) So you see its really boring, do you have any suggestions?? Im on this for another 3.5 weeks!! Hugs Sara

:omg: Pam, your gonna get up at 04.30am to get to the gym at 5am oh my goodness....that is SERIOUS DEDICATION GIRL!! I'm off this week (2nd week) my consultant signed me off for 3 weeks!! But I'm only gonna take 2 weeks off work. I get up every Monday at 5.30am for work, then get back home Tuesday 7pm at night (as I work on the Isle of Wight every Monday & alternative Tuesdays) and every other Tuesday I work away and get back on Wednesday nights, its gonna be hard fiting in exercise, I just hope losing a bit of weight will give me more energy cos all I normally want to do when I get home after work is flop. This is where Im going too have to change my behavioural patterns :paranoid Still if your doing it Pam already I ought too, the longer I leave it the harder (emotionally) it will get for me. Laura: Just think that person eating McDonalls right now....its going straight onto their hips girl! :heh: (& not ours!!) Well, I got to tell you all this, my hubby is begining to moan to me about talking about this lap band...he said 'Sara its all you talk about, your becoming obsessed!' so I burst out laughing and said well hon your married to me and my lap band now.....LOL...its only been a week Im bound to be talking about it arent I??? :rolleyes Well guys, look after yourselves xx Hugs Sara

Dear All, A BIG HUG to all of you that are getting ready for tomorrow for your ops it is nerve wracking when your unsure whats a head of you, all I can say 7 days post op, I feel better and better, and much my old self. Do rest after the op, thats what will heal you, but do walk about too, as that will get rid of the gas quicker in your abdomen. By day 7 I took off all my steri strips on my tummy, and it feels sooooo much better :biggrin1: the scars are so tiny, the port one is about 1.5 inches long, but the others are no bigger than the lengh of my little finger nail, and there all healing nicely!! Tracy, I do hope your feeling better today, its emotionally hard sticking to a liquid diet, facing your family who are eating what ever they want, when ever they want over a holiday period, and psychicing yourself up to get through until your band day, you'll get there hon, only another 2.5 weeks!! I bet youve lost loads of weight too!! So keep going were all here for you xx. Well after 1 week after surgery folks I can now reveal my first weight loss Da na na naaaaaaaa ...........13 lbs Lost :humble: I wish I could put it in flashing lights!!!! LOL, but unlike you guys I didnt do a pre op diet (& I should have done) But after 1 week after surgery all I can say is: Its the BEST thing I've Done!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and not 1 regret!! :clap2: Hugs Sara

Hi SaggiJ & Louise, That must be tough for you Saggi re the underactive thyroid, and I agree with you the difficulty of changing your eating habits of a lifetime quickly. I too thought of this pre op, I thought I'll see how I go, but I might enrolled with somebody to get NLP therapy re diet/lifestyle, but I'll see how I go....Also thanks for the advice about how easy it is to put all the weight loss back on onceyou start solids again, I'll have to try and be really careful, I now write down what I eat each day and what the cals total up too, but once Im really back on the ment I am going to have to make myself do exercise. I do love it once Im doing it, its getting back into a habit again Hey Louise thats a great weight loss 4.5lbs this week, wow I'd love to loseweight like that. I got on the scales again (lol) this am and Im down 12lbs now, but tomorrows D-Day 1 week after the op, so what ever that says tomorrow will be my first marker. I see you had your op done in the Bath clinic, I had mine done with BMI in Winchester, even though I live in Dorset. I'll have to try and be disaplined and only weigh myself every Monday am too......but the first week was just tooooo tempting to do it every day! Have a lovely day folks Hugs Sara

Hiya all, Terri thats FANTASTIC news re weight loss!!!!! Were all on the way now on losing big time :girl_hug: I cant remember if it was you that said when youd got back home your weight had increased, mine had too, I was 248 on the Sunday morning on my scales (on the hospital scales I was 242) then when I got home I was 249!! Anyways....were on a losin streak now:clap2: Hey I checked out that shopping mall, and I said to dave and sophie (my youngest) that I was going to have a end target, when I reach my goal I want to go to America shopping, I'd like to come just before Christmas when its all pretty (so I guess it will be Nov/Dec 08!) - Sophie was impressed....dave wasnt though...LOL he hates shopping! Pam, Hi hon I hope your shoulder gets better, I did have some pains (not as bad as my tummy though) and used a wheat heat bag around my neck the first few days after the op. I'm feeling heaps better, have been practicising the breathing technquic today. Also I walked up to the village shop with Dave (took me 40 mins there and back - I was quite proud of myself) then we drove to our local garden centre, and bought a small Bay tree for a pot outside the front of the house, and some lavender for a front boarder, plus my brother came up for a chat so its been a really lovely day Betty I am so sorry to hear about your hubby's and sons op, I hope they are both ok now? It must have been such a worry to you. You and Kat are an inspration to us all. Tracy- sounds like you had a wonderful day, I remember when my girls were tiny tots learning to ride a bike, your baby is at such a lovely age. Well I have a question to those of you who have had surgery this week: Ok here goes: The first 3 days I had to follow a liquid diet, then I started on sloppy food. This is what my daily intake is like: Breakfast: weetabix biscuit with milk and sweetner Lunch: scrambled egg with a bit of cheese (today I had 2 eggs!!) Dinner: soup (veg and chicken) Snack: low fat yougart and fresh fruit pureed coolie I made and added honey to it. Drinks: water/tea/coffee.... This lot totals to 650 cals....how many cals are you all having a day, is this normal? After reading Bettys post, it may appear our appietite may go back to nrmal next week (week 2) so I guess we'll have to be careful..... Whats everyone else eating post op? Ohhhhh and Lunasa....tell us how your holidays going, I'm pleased your mum was ok with it. My mum n dad come back from holiday on Thursday, I'll be pleased when there back as Im missing them, especially this week Speak soon, Sara xxxxxxx

Hi All, Happy Easter folks! Im feeling tons better since the op on Monday, still a little breathless, but soooo much better :girl_hug: When I got back home I did get on the scales, and Id actually put weight on, lol, I know it was only Fluid, but still :paranoid anyway today I got on the scales and Ive lost 9lbs, (yep I know its only fluid coming away) but it gave me a real high this am, I dont think Ive ever in my entire life lost weight like that. I'll weigh again on Monday and see what it says after a week. How often do you all weigh? Also, when does the weight loss slow down, after the first month? You all have a great Easter! Hugs Sara

Terri & Kate, Thank you for the breathing technique suggestion, I am DEFINATELY going to do that. Last night I couldnt sleep, probably because Ive slept so much after the last few days, so I found that video on Google on the lap band surgery itself, it was amazing actually seeing what they do inside you (not for the squemish :phanvan ). Lunasa, wow your in America on holiday? Lucky you, Ooooo the last time I went there was with my mum and brother about 3 years ago (mum treated us), we went to NewYork and visited all of the sites, I LOVED IT!!!!! OMG the shopping malls you have are to die for, I remember going into this mall and shopping till I dropped...lol I have a picture of my brother surrounded by shopping bags looking thoroughly feed up, Oooo lucky you, may be that should be my end incentive after I lose all of the weight, to go to America again but with hubby this time and my kids :girl_hug: Well I know I shouldnt get on the scales every day (and its not until Monday Im a week post op) but OMG.....I am down now 9lbs in 5 days...YEEEEEEEHAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ok, promise I wont weigh again till Monday (that'll be a week then) I know its only fluid going, but it still feels good Have a great Saturday!! Sara xx

Dear Terri & Maiziemommy, <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> Well had a shower today, gosh I feel so much better, actually got dressed today and put on some make up! My hubby is relived in looking more normal again. I must say I look pregnant though, as my stomach is still swollen, I took 4 dressings off today, and changed the one over the port area as it’s a bigger incision. Going to go for a small walk into the nearest town today, need to pick up some easter eggs for my family, as its good Friday today, so everyones off for easter. Can I also suggest to all to get a small bowl, as I had some porridge today, and ate too much, I felt really sick after, I had a 150mls worth instead of 100mls, so im going to measure any food I eat now (liquidised) into a small bowl now J Have a lovely Friday all, Hugs, Sara xx
