Hi All, I'm so pleased Im not the only one with no restriction. I was banded on April 2nd this yr, the band was great, then I guess the internal swelling went down, 6 weeks later I had a fill, he put 4mls in. I was a bit scared as I didnt know what to expect.....a week later I found myself getting more and more hungry? and I could not eat a whole plateful of food and a pudding? Well as the weeks went by I realised that this wasnt right, and I was begining to feel a failure, so I started going back to my old habits pre band i.e. drinking red wine, biscutes avoided exercise etc... 4 weeks after my 1st fill I phoned the hospital secretary up and explained what was happening to me. Today I visited the Dr again, he put another 1.5ml in, but I didnt feel any difference, (they ask you to eat a yogart etc to see if it sticks or you feel full) so he then put another 0.5ml in, so I now have 6mls in. I truely pray this works now, I'll let you know if 6mls (in a 10ml band) is a great restriction or not... Sara x -

Dear All, I wanted to say a big HELLO to you all again, I'm sorry Ive not logged on for weeks and weeks now. To be truthful I felt embarrased because my band had not been working since I had a fill (5 weeks ago). I was actually eating more, it was weird! I felt a failure too, and started to go down hill to be honest, eating more, drinking red wine again, not exercise etc...all the things which I did before the band. Anyway to cut a long story short, I went back to see my consultant today, hes put another 2mls in my band, so I now have 6mls in (10ml band) he 1st put 1.5ml top up in but it didnt make any difference so he put more in. Ive got to phone him back again next Wednesday to let his secretary know. Fingers crossed....:paranoid this time. I'm so pleased you are all doing so well, and you've all stuck together, I need to keep coming on this site as you are all so helpful and encouraging I'm away 50% of the week now working away from home, next week Im only at home in the week Monday & Friday! Ive got to try and sort out an exercise regime, kity, you sound like your really enjoying the gym now which is great. Also, I passed my exams (which were in May) all 6 papers to my relife! Take care all, Love Sara xx -

Dear All, A BIG HELLO!! I have missed posting this week, I popped on quickly yesterday, so Ive missed all of everyones updates!! Well this week has been a roller coaster ride to say the least!! Ok, Monday started rather badly, getting in the shower at 5am and forgetting the hot water doesnt kick in till 6am didnt help, then my car windscreen wipers gave up the ghost 6 miles down the road so I had to wake my poor mother up at 6am to borrow her car to get to Surrey (near London) for the exam! The exam was hard guys :think I missed out 25 questions on paper 3 as I over analysed most of them and time ran out, the afternoon papers werent so bad, but I still couldnt answer the drug questions as I didnt study those in depth except for the A&P. Its a pharmaceutical exam, and as work as a project/programme manager in health sites it wasnt really relevant to me, but I am paid and employed by a pharma company hence I had to take the exam...sorry now I have verbal whaffle!! Anyway on the Tuesday I was up at 5am again, in mums car yet again bless her, and I phoned the office, to let them know of the problems etc and they started to have a 'go' because my mums car wasnt insured for buisness...I just broke down, it was so embarrasing, next thing I know I have the head boss phoning me up etc....oooo gawwwddd, anyway I thought I was losing it as I started getting panicky feelings (like a pre set of a panic attack) so mum went out n bought me St Johns Wort (like a herbal calming pill) Oil of Primrose (for PMT) she has been so kind to me over this last week. Anyway Wed & Thursday I was working away, today Ive had a lovely day, and its Friday, so I can put all my troubles behind me now! I know I'll have to take the ruddy exam again, but thats lifes little ups and downs for ya! Well, Laura, I must say I saw the link you put in that your going to have your wedding reception, its absolutly gorgeous!! If I lived nearer Id be outside the church/venue and get my confetti ready! Kat, I hope you and hubby are ok, I read that hes going to have an op to put things right, so I pray that that will make him better, and you will both be happy and healthy. Pam, you have been in my thoughts, how are you? Take care everyone, sorry about all of my whaffle! Loves ya all! Sara xxxxxxx -

Afternoon everybody!! Wow, just read 3-4 pages to catch up!! Teach congratulations on your hubby geting aproved, you must be so pleased! I laughed when I saw the pic of your hair!! You know, when I was at junior school, I remember this secretary lady having a violet rinse in her hair!! You definately look thinner in the face too against your profile pic:clap2: Pam congrats on getting into smaller clothes & knickers!! Well I went to see my consultant yesterday evening, and the dietician lady. Ok my muscle level apparently needs to be 76-79, when I first went there (Pre surgery) it was 40%.....Dadadaaaaaaa....it is now 50.03%!!!! I was soooooo pleased, I have been exercising like mad, but also Ive lost fat, so maybe thats helped too. Ive been keeping a food & exercise diary since being banded, so I took that a long with me, they were both pleased. Ok my fill.....I was nervous, I must be honest, as I wasnt sure what to expect, anyway I had to lie down on the couch, he couldnt find my port at first, lol, he said have you ever felt it, I just laughed and said its under all my fat....anyway in the end he put a pillow under my back so that my abdomen stuck out more, by this point I had my eyes shut tight, lol, he must have put a local in first, then he put 4 mls in my band (its a 10ml band Ive got) he said the dietician will phone me in a week to see how Im getting on, but he said the next fill was going to be in 3 months time (so mid August I guess) after all of the apprihension...it was fine! Over in a matter of minutes. After I had to drink some water, then eat half a pot of yougart, to show the band wasnt too tight. When I got home about 8pm, Dave wasnt back from work still, so I got dinner ready, Id only had cottage cheese & a yoguart all day, I had soup just in case after my 1st fill, so anyway, down the village hall this weekend theres a beer tent, as theres a steam train special weekend, so Dave and I go along to it and met up with my parents and my aunt and uncle are down staying at mums, well Im not a beer drinker, but I said to the guy behind the beer stall, have you got something sweetish (bearing in mind I felt pretty tired with hardly eating and a long old day at work, then my fill) so he got me a pint of this stuff called 'behind the buffers'?? Its a cornish beer, anyway, it tasted lovely, so an hr later Dave got me half a pint more of this stuff, by this time I was off my head, and mum had to hold onto me on the way home....anyway I did something really really silly when I got in, there was a bottle of red wine (half gone) in the kitchen, so I poured myself a glass in a drunken state, anyway, 1/2hr later I was so ill, omg......I still feel ill now :cry Anyway guess what.....Ive gone and ordered my 1st charm I've lost a stone and a half.....(21lbs) so its official, lol, my next goal is to lose another 7lbs (for charm no 2!!) have a lovely weekend everyone, Take care Sara xxxxxxxx -

Brenners....Hey I'm glad your feeling better, to be honest I'm not too sure on the daily calories werent ment to have. Mine varies greatly, from 800 cals to 1500?? The best bet is to call the hsp you had the band put in, and ask to speak to the dietician there, or failing that the secretary of the consultant could ask for you. I guess a lot depends on the level of restriction you have (& how much you can eat) I couldnt eat a lot at 1st, now I have no problem, lol!! Take care, Sara xx -

Terry this is a brilliant idea!! You will get in shape in a flash!! It will definately make a difference!! & you'll reap the rewards :clap2: of being one-super-fit woman!! I think I over did it a bit yesterday, I did a 40 min swim with my mum, then last night before I went to bed I did 3 miles (4800 meters) on the treadmill (took me 65 mins) then weights....I feel a bit weird today, lol!!! I'm nervous because I see the consultant this w/k and the dietician, she'll probably do the muscle test on me again :phanvan last time she did it, it was 40% and she said no wonder your not losing weight it should be at 70% to get the metabolisum up to burn fat.....so Ive been exercising like mad...LOL...:faint:. I think getting a trainer is an awsome idea, in the near future Terry I might go along that road....tell us how your 1st session goes....Good on Ya!!!!!!!!!!! Sara xxxx -

Mdrai, I am so sorry to hear about your test findings. Many years ago I was a gastric specialist nurse; The condittion is called 'GORD' Gastric-oesphageal reflux disease: if it is 'Barretts Oesphagus', which can be treated with proton pump inhibitors for a couple of months to heal the area, and reduce production of acidthen the treatment is titrated down after a healing dose (the treatment they give is called PPI's drugs they act on the proton pumps which make acid in the cells, they are stronger that a histamine receptor drug H2s like ranitidine or cemetidine). Its where the gastric cells (caused by oesophagitis) log into the mucosal cells above the oesphageal sphicter muscle above the diaphram. They start to produce gastric production, in a low PH enviroment. They shouldalso give you lifestyle advice; It can be treated Mdrai, please dont lose hope. Talk to the gastric specialist, and ask for more information. Have faith, were all here to support you xxxxxxxxxxx ((((BIG HUG)))) Love Sara xxxxxx -
