  1. I had my banded plication in July of this year and it is wonderful. No problems so far and agree with RayLandry about serving size. I also have had no saline in my band. I think I have the super-sleeve because I can eat almost anything, I only have minor problems with eggs. But my bariatric surgeon said that is very common. Hope this helps.
  2. My weight loss since plication had been slow but granted some of it has been my own doing. I had wished I could have gotten the sleeve for two reasons. According to my surgeon who was trained at Harvard 1) the sleeve never stretches. So restriction stays the same. 2) most gastric sleeves no longer experience much hunger because the curvature of the stomach contains the hunger hormone "grelin". Singe sleeves get theirs cut out they no longer have this issue. Well and that's why some time in the future I will join them Too. Hope that explains why we are still feeling hungry. Wow, reading these kind of put a damper on my excitement! I am not even 2 weeks out yet. Do you think the results would be different if you had had the Sleeve? It just seemed like the overall results with the plication were really good! Granted nobody had results beyond 8 years, but the first people to get the Plication are doing very well and have not gained the weight back! I also worry about the cravings! I already have a list of my fav foods to eat when I can eat regular food again. Do you think people with the sleeve don't have the cravings? I think a lot of it for me is mental. I am used to eating certain things and I sometimes feel sad that I won't be able to eat like that. I know, that part of it for me is mental! FatToPhat, on October 11, 2011 - 4:13 AM, said:

    The Mental Side

h21 I agree, there is a whole world of support on a blog site like this one. Where else can you talk with people who are going through the same kind of issues as yourself? Sometimes I think its better than a therapist.
  4. Hello Knknosmom, This is a very personal decision for you. It is always your perogative to let your friends and family know or not. With me, there were some people who I just didnt want them to know. Unfortunately, one of my kids posted on Facebook "Good luck on your Surgery tomorrow, momma...and that's when people asked what surgery I was having and was I sick, etc etc. Well you know my drift. So be ware, it can leak even if you think no one knows about it. If no family knows about yur surgery, make sure a good friend or acquaintance does. Just in case anything...God forbid and they can contact someone you really need. Another food for thought thing. Your doctor should tell you how long you will be in the hospital. Generally for Lap Band its overnight or 2 days at most if minor problems. Talk w your doctor and he will tell you more. And do, do read the many posts written on this site, it is fantastic. Hope this helped. MA (MadeameArtiste)
