I have this this problem from time to time as I am anemic and have to take Iron . I drink an extra bottle of Water. If that doesn't help, I take one of those little blue E-lax pills at night. The next day I'm back to normal. You can try that or consume more Fiber. Metamucil (sp) has a tasteless fiber mixture you put into water. I'm not sure how tasteless it is tho.

Help! Exercising Made Me Gain Weight?!
Jolie_KeMi replied to Teddy bear's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Keep up you exercise routine! Burn calories any way you can. My son and I have Dancey Dance Time (Yo Gabba Gabba reference), I wear one of those sweat belts around my stomach while cleaning house, walking...anything helps. How often are you weighing? Try to limit it to once per week. That way you can keep you sanity, because weight can fluctuate throughout the day/week. Be kind to yourself!! You're sleeve won't fail you. -
Help! Exercising Made Me Gain Weight?!
Jolie_KeMi replied to Teddy bear's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It could be anything: Water retention, TOM bloating, gaining a bit of muscle... Don't freak out. Think about this: 1lb of fat = 3500 calories. There is no way in the world that you consumed 7000 calories in 2 days being 3 months post op. Stay off of the scale for a few days until this passes. Weighing too frequently can be stressful! LOL. -
Fashionista!!! You're my idol. I stumbled out of the hospital in Nike's. LOL!

I wore 5 inch heels about 3 weeks PO. I had no complications after surgery and my body felt pretty normal by week 2. Wear them around the house for a few hours first, then see how you feel afterward. Just listen to your body...it will tell you if its ready or not. Take some cute flats with you to work just in case. Good luck!

I Am Now Officially "overweight!"
Jolie_KeMi replied to Catracks's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Overweight and happy here! & I think I want to remain this way for a while. Is that crazy? Lol! That BMI chart is brutal. I don't think I would look healthy at a 25 BMI. -

Old Habits Are Hard To Break, The Art Of Not Wasting Food
Jolie_KeMi replied to CamarilloCA's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I HATE to waste food. I grew up in a lower middle class family and am the oldest of 5, so to waste food was like a deadly sin. I live in Houston where one of the popular things to do is go out to eat. I usually eat 4 or 5 bites of food and put it in a to go box. I then eat off of this for 2 to 3 days, or until my husband makes fun of me enough to where I HAVE to throw it out. Questionable foods I've eaten: 3 day old grilled tilapia, 4 day old crawfish bisque, 3 day old Chipotle salad bowl, and some other things I'm not proud of. LOL! But I felt like I got my money's worth. I haven't gotten sick, but my hubby is waiting for the day so he can say "I told ya so!!" -
I think you are just getting cold feet. I don't know anyone who has had this surgery ether, but I come on this site very often for support. This forum has been a weight loss tool in addition to my VSG. See you can find a "buddy" on here that you can either meet up with or someone who is similar in age, weight, and has a surgery date close to yours. It's remarkable what and who you can find here. There will be days you feel like this, or worse, post surgery but you can do this! Keep believing in yourself.

Aetna -- How Long For Approval Once Requirements Are Met And Paperwork Submitted By Office?
Jolie_KeMi replied to DanaInNewOrleans's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My paperwork was submitted Thursday and I was approved Monday afternoon. I heard that Aetna is generally pretty good about responding. -
Have You Lost Friendships/relationships Since Weight Loss?
Jolie_KeMi replied to N/A's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I lost a friend who I was extremely close with. It was the typical story: she's always been thin, I've always been bigger than her. She would get all the male attention while I played the wing(wo)man role. You all know how it goes... When I told her I was getting surgery, she hit me with the "Why don't you just diet and exercise? Get a trainer, not a surgeon!" and a few other pretty hurtful statements. I have seen her twice and spoken to her maybe 5 times since surgery; even though I have reached out to her several times. It used to really bother me...now not so much. It's her problem, not mine. I'm focusing on the positive people and things in my life. @ShoeLover: I agree! & when they ask about my progress I wonder if it is because they care about my journey or if it's for the "unspoken competition". It's strange. -

New, First Post, Saying Hi. :)
Jolie_KeMi replied to TapSnap's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi John. Thanks for introducing yourself. I had friends make snide comments, and although it discouraged me a little, deep down I knew I had to do this for myself. Just do your research and make sure you are prepared for the good, bad, and indifferent. Don't worry, your head will shrink too (hopefully LOL) & not only will you be your happy self, you will be better! The confidence of walking into a room knowing people are not talking about your size, eliminating those self-conscious acts, and being able to sit and shop where ever you like...man...It's worth it! It's freedom in its truest form. Good luck to you on your journey. I look forward to future posts on your progess. -
Starting To Get Noticed.....the Good And The Bad..
Jolie_KeMi replied to init4me's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Here are some of the snide comments I have received and my answers to them: "STOP losing weight! You're getting too skinny!" "NO!!" "I guess I'm the fat friend in the group now." "You don't have to be any friend in the group now." "I can see your face now since all that blubber and chub is gone." "Stop paying so much attention to me. Good day." "I've lost X amount of pounds on my own." "Oh...really? Well I have a little Fairy Godmother who pops out and slaps food out of my hand. I guess I didn't do it on my own..." "WLS is the easy way out. " "It sure was! You jealous?" As you can see, I'm a bit sarcastic. -
What Can I Take For My Hair Loss?
Jolie_KeMi replied to Ready for the new Lay-Lay's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Lay Lay: I'm obviously not the best person to comment on this because I cut all my hair off, but I do want you to know that I totally understand. 3 months ago I could have posted the exact same thing that you did. I took biotin, biosilk, used clarifying shampoo, used Africa's Best products, stopped coloring and processing, nothing worked. I have been on this site for almost a year and I can't think of anything anyone has said that actually works - not for our hair anyway. I think the only thing we can do is brace ourselves and be as kind to our hair as possible. Since I am eating more food now, I can see that my hair is growing back thick and healthy. Maybe the only thing we can do is wait it out. Sorry I couldn't offer any solutions. Let us know how it goes. -
Houston here! We have a pretty big community here on these boards. We all should meet up and compare stories.
-
I will be here to support you if you need it! Good luck. YOU CAN DO THIS!

I'm currently struggling with this as well. It's so easy to think: "OK, I've lost the weight, now I can eat what I want for a few days & then get back on track." It's a slippery slope...and EXTREMELY difficult to get back into the right frame of mind. I feel guilty for eating comfort foods and alcohol this past Labor Day weekend - especially after reading the boards and seeing people who have been denied surgery or can't afford it. The guilt and fear of regaining is daunting. Sometimes I feel like this is all a dream and one day I will wake up plus sized again. I'm starting that bootcamp Monday. I can't go back to emotional eating. Thanks for paying attention...

Halloween Costume
Jolie_KeMi replied to Jolie_KeMi's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I saw that the Halloween Express store is now open, so I'm getting excited already. Post pics when you get your costume picked out! -
My hair was falling out in handfuls. I was scared to wash it because each time I did, I would have enough dead hair to cover a bald cat. I took Biotin, used biosilk, stopped coloring and processing, nothing worked! I just chopped it off. It's starting grow back healthy. I think it is because I eat more food now. Look at some of the past posts on this topic to see what others are doing. There may be a better solution than chopping it off. Good luck!
