LOL I just asked a similar question in MFP. I'm at 900 calories, the NUT suggests 1000+. I moved up to 1000 for a few days but it freaked me out! LOL. I am losing nicely and don't find myself too hungry (i have random days where I feel ravenous) so in sticking at 900 for now. I also exercise 4-5 times a week and burn between 400-500 calories with each of those workouts. There's no way I'd be able to do them eating 500-700 calories a day. I always "bank" my calories from exercise even though MFP tries to give them to you to use. I see my NUT and NP in a week so I'll ask then.

Before And After Down 115 June Sleeve
BKMama replied to njsleeve's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I see why you needed a new ID! Great job!! -
Oh yeah, I did the food funeral big time. I used to be the queen if self sabotage! I gained back all if the weight I lost during the nearly year long program with the hospital. My NUT and nurse had to kinda slap me back into reality and I reigned it in right before the preop diet. Now, I feel super silly about it because I don't have any issues with foods and the stuff I knew I'd miss I haven't wanted at all. (So weird!) Just dust yourself off and try to reign it in. don't make it harder for yourself post op. :-)

Was Anyone Awake During The Breathing Tube?
BKMama replied to ASwinton's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was "awake" but already had the happy juice in my IV so I was in and out of it and only remember snap shots. Rolling into the operating room. The anesthesiologist team saying hi. My surgeon saying hi. A nurse holding my hand and smiling. Then fuzzy...lots of movement but not sure what was happening. When he placed the breathing tube, I coughed and apparently I glared at him when he asked me if I was ok (he told me this when he came to check on me post op and we laughed about it). They completely numb your throat so you don't feel it...I just felt a strange slight pressure which made me cough. Within seconds, I was back out of it and in what seemed like the blink of an eye I was in recovery. YOU WILL BE FINE!!! :-) -
Just wanted to update this with a big thank you to those who gave input. I love love love BodyPUMP! I take it 2 times a week and it is an awesome workout. I can already feel a difference, especially in my arms, shoulders, and thighs. My clavicle is playing peek a boo for the first time in YEARS! :-)

Hey peeps! Anyone try this class??? My park district gym offers it and it looks good. I'm thinking if I can do it twice a week it can make up for me not doing my personal trainer. I plan to pair it with Zumba twice a week plus a possible Water aerobics class as well. Anyway...anyone try it? Is it really difficult? I don't mind being pushed but weight lifting is not a strength for me. Thanks!!

My arms are firming up with exercise but I know I will always have my "bat wings". I hope to just make them less noticeable because the attention will be drawn to my otherwise awesome arms and shoulders. Welcome to the gun show! LOL

You're right. I remember high school health class the teacher said the vagina is a cul se sac while the anus is an interstate for reasons not to put foreign objects into your anus. LOL

I'm sorry but that makes no sense at all. How will the contents of the pill absorb? And where? Absorption of nutrients, etc does not occur in the vagina, cervix, or uterus. The cervix will stop anything from randomly getting into the uterus. Sorry...sounds like your doc wants to see you more because that sounds like a problem in the making.

How Did You Deal With The Fear Of Being Put To Sleep?
BKMama replied to Sexiipisces77's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was more afraid of the anesthesia than the surgery so I understand. I made sure my surgeon knew my fears and he talked me through them. The anesthesiologist team was wonderful too. They gave me some of that "I don't care" in my IV before wheeling me to the OR and after that I only have random snap shots of being in the OR. Then like someone else said, they were waking me up. I felt like I had literally blinked. They look at all those tests we take pre-op and make sure they are doing everything just right. You'll be fine hun! -

First Holiday After Being Sleeved Was Interesting
BKMama replied to jennrus's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I overdid it a bit but I had to take a step back and realize that my overdoing it this year was maybe an ounce or two over what I should eat (OMG I was miserable after) where before there would have been plate after plate of food. It didn't bother me as much as I thought it would at all! I was very pleasantly surprised by that. I also fell back on something my favorite weight watchers leader used to tell us "It's a holiDAY not a holiWEEK.". Meaning, don't let the holiday be your excuse to just throw everything out the window for days at a time. We're eating leftovers, but in reasonable portions. Keeping up with exercising to help with the little food sins that were committed. Things like that. :-) -

Not letting us use the problematic tickers rather than removing them all would have been nice. (I moderated a forum like this one and there were certain tickers that causes issues, it wasn't all of them.) I used My Fitness Pal's ticker because I already track there and it's updated and accurate. Now, I'll have to login to this site via a computer (I'm almost always using the app) to update which means it will get update much less frequently. Totally agree about the ads causing slow loading too. I know this is your site and you can do whatever you please, but hopefully user feedback is important.

4.5 Months Out And Feeling Fabulous!
BKMama replied to southerndiva123's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
You're so pretty! Great job working your sleeve! :-) -
If you do a search, you'll find a ton of posts about this. Your body is recovering from a major surgery and is in shock. You were pumped with IV fluids that you are likely still retaining as well. Be patient, keep following the plan, and the weight will come off. One week after surgery, many aren't even holding steady but still UP in their weight from the liquid retention alone.

I Am So Thrilled For You! Behind You 100%!......sike
BKMama replied to dee.jay.bee's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm sorry your friend hurt your feelings...but I guess it is better that you know how she really feels so you can limit your interactions regarding your WLS with her moving forward. You need a real, true support system...hopefully she comes around when she sees how happy you are post-op and how you're on your way to be healthy! One question though...your doctor only allows you skim milk for 2 weeks pre op. Skim milk ONLY??? -

Does Starvation Mode Really Matter?
BKMama replied to wendy88's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
To piggy back what pdxman said (good to see you back around these parts!), sure anorexics lose weight but they are also in poor health. Skinny with their internal organs failing, their teeth rotting, etc etc. -
What Are You Eating For Breakfast
BKMama replied to newgrandmother's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
bolthouse farms maybe? I mix half a bottle of the green goodness smoothie with a scoop of vanilla Protein powder for my breakfast. Mm mm good! (higher in carbs for those that don't do carbs)
