What you have to realize is that you have had major surgery, even though you have no big incision. As other have said the first couple weeks you may feel you got hit by a train. Once you go thru all the steps and get to solid food that will be the amazing time. Your sleeve will tell you in no uncertain terms when to stop and believe me it will be only after a couple bites. This is the time you have to be careful and use that space wisely. I am 10 mos. out and am down over 80#. Going on a cruise in Jan. and I cannot tell you how much fun to get clothes and look so good. The other thing is the energy level. You always heard people who have lost say they now have so much ebergy...WOW. My husband is on the phone telling family that he has no idea what I may have accomplished by the time he gets home. I am 66 and my only regret is that I could have had this sooner, but I am truly enjoying and have nver regretted this decision(maybe early on I got teary eyed when I passed the Chinese buffett) The buffett is out but every once in a while I get an order of something and it lasts me 3 days. So just go day by day and soon all these little problems will resolve and you will literally be amazed...

Feeling Awful, Emotionally.. Suggestions?
gracemarie replied to AshleyIrene's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree, you need either a group, or even a very good friend you can talk to when your "funk" hits. Maybe don't blame everything you are feeling on your surgery, everyone at some time has all these feelings that you are having. Every day is not always sunny. The boyfriend issue can be coming from a few different ways, he wants to keep you the way you are and is afraid if you start looking sooooo good, he will lose you and you will be off to greener pastures. Or, it is the old saying...you can only change yourself and not someone else, and he does not want to change his habits, so maybe you better rethink trying to change him. Right now, just like a new recoving alcoholic who should not frequent bars, you should not be in fast foods. Now, I will tell you, down the road you will be able to handle that. I very seldom go but if I bring things home, I literally get a cheesburger and give half to the dog. Just a couple bites and I am satisfied. In the early mos. I followed to the letter, I am 7 mos. out now and have lost 80# and am very happy. I now pretty much eat what I want, just ever so small quanties and I am still losing about 2 pounds a week. If you need someone to talk to I will be more than happy, I am home all day..e-mail me and I will give you my # daryllarke@att.net..Sue -
My Story (Lengthy But Its Mine)
gracemarie replied to bubblesbgood's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Holy crap...I have been an OR nurse for 35 yrs. and my stories do not even come close to yours. One suggestion I have is that you do send a letter to your state board of licenses and relate this story and file a complaint. It will do nothing for you but may help someone else. I do believe in Karma and that means it is now your turn for a very succesful sleeve. Keep us posted. -

Had my procedure in Oct. and I am down 75lbs. Just like everyone says along with the weight coming off, so do the inches. I have always done most of my shopping on line because I hate to shop(no matter what size I am). Any way I was wearing 3x tops and 1x bottoms. Needed a few things for summer trips. My size 1x tops and x-lg bottoms arrived today and I will be lucky to make these last the summer b4 they fall off. I was shocked to see how loose they were, to tell the truth I figured if they were too tight for the June trip, I would hopefully use them for the Jan. cruise. So my advise is not to order anything on line but rather go to the store and see just what size you are....

bEEN SEEING THESE ADVERTISED A LOT AND FINALLY TRIED THEM,,,omg, THEY ARE DELICIOUS. About 100 cal. for 27 crackers. I got the sour cream and chives and they have at least 2 other flavors. Those of you chip addicts will surely find these as a great alternative I hope...try them.

I am a OR nurse so I have a little experience in post op problems. First and foremost is just because this was done with out a large incision, this was still major surgery. ALL MAJOR PROCEDURES TAKE TIME.....Four weeks out is still very much in the recuperating stage. As so many have said, stalls are not uncommon. I too had a little depression afterwards when I would think that what I have done is for ever, that all does go away. I am 5 mos. out and eat what ever I want (of course that amounts to about 3 bites at a setting). But the thing is at this point I don't feel like I am on a diet. I have lost 65 lbs. and now am losing about 2-3 lbs. a week. Try to get the majority of your protein in so you feel good and then my advise is do not deprive yourself if you want something. Remember no matter what you grave it will only be a bite or two so enjoy it in moderation. Good luck, believe me this will all even out. Of course if physical symptoms continue and get worse get medical help.

Sad Story. Right Doctor And Right Hospital...so Important
gracemarie replied to tamou37's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Bad things always will continue to happen. I have been an OR nurse for 35 years and have seen too many times that things just happen and we have lost people after very simple procedures thru no fault or negilence. -
11 Days Post Op And Regretting Decision.
gracemarie replied to Chrissy Rios's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I also wondered if I made a mistake as this is for life. I am 3 mos. out and have lost 50 lbs. and no longer think I made a mistake. I am to the pointe that I can eat what ever I want but it is only about 2-3 oz. at a time. You still have to be careful what you eat, I try to stay away from sweets and bread takes up too much room. Early out I learned the hard way to just eat very small amounts at first. I am telling you if you take one bite too much the pain is not good for about 20 minutes. I also at the bigining did not really feel hungrey so you really have to strive to get your protein in every day. I love tuna and cottage cheese and even now that is a good staple for me. Just go slow and it gets better every day and soon it will not be such a focal point in your life. There was only one time I got nauceous and that is when I took that one extra bite. Also down the road I eat wht ever I fix my husband for meals, just 3 bites. I am done before he even gets organized. Now I am losing 2-3 pounds a week and that is fine with me. Sorry to say I do not exercise at all, hopefully come better weather I will be out more and that will increase the losing. One day at a time.... -
Exericise Or No Exercise
gracemarie replied to yecats's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have always disliked it and I tried many things. Most of what I bought became quilt holders, (Bikes, tampolines, etc.) I am a little over 2 mos. out, have lost 40 lbs. and lose now about 3-4 lbs a week and no exercise. Would I like to yes, will I, probably not. -
Over 60 and having the sleeve
gracemarie replied to ginnylee's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi, I am 65 and had my sleeve on 10-25 and so far have lost 45 lbs. I was one of the fortunate ones that had no problems what so ever. Tired the first week and that is all. I pretty much kept to the plan but I did move it up a little with no problems. Now I am eating everything except fried, sugar, etc. and it is fine. Of course like you will find out every meal will just be about 3 bites. Do not go over this or you will have pain for about 15 mins., not good. I am getting just about all of my protein from food and just about 15 gms. in a drink. Tuna and cottage cheese are what I eat most during the day, at dinner I usually have a few bites of what ever I am fixing...good luck -
Mastoplexy - Consult Appt Next Week
gracemarie replied to former_vbg's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I am an OR nurse and have done a lot of plastics. Depending on your age, yes, the lift is not a permanant fix. The implants would not be a bad idea, since unlike most you have enough of your own breast tissue that they would look really good and it would be forever. Problems with leaks are really at a very low percentage as they have improved them a whole lot over the years. What I would really be surprised about is that insurance will cover any weight loss cosmetic surgery. From what I know you really have to have medical issues, like constant skin break downs, back problems, etc. Will be anxious to see if you are successful in getting any of these covered, good luck. Keep in mind also if this is the same insurance that covered your sleeve then they are aware that you may just be seeking cosmetic surgery..good luck -

100 Pounds Down In 5 Months After Gastric Sleeve Surgery...video And Pics!

Yes, you also made me cry. First, so many years ago my husband also walked out on me and I can still bring that feeling up but now it seems as if it happened to my dear friend and not me. Secondly, I cannot tell you how great you look. Not only the weight loss but the look on your face, what a difference, you look happy. By the way your kids are beautiful. I was single for 25 yrs. after the divorce and also used food as my reward for just about anything. I was married in 2000 and for reason contiuned to gain, but this time because I now had someone to cook for. I am 2 mos. out and started at 260 and have lost 40 lbs. I know it would be a whole more if I exercised and after your blog, I am starting tomorrow. I know it works because a couple weeks ago on vacation, we walked all over and I lost 5 lbs that week. You are a huge inspiration, I am sure to so many... -
What The Hell!/?;...*..!?
gracemarie replied to cutie pie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
OK, girl, first of all take a deep breath. Now there is probably something triggering these feelings, see if you can be honest and look what this may be and get a handle on it. If there is nothing just maybe it is time to take a break. That doesn't mean to hit the buffets just maintain for a bit and forget about the dieting. We all have been on diets and that is the problem, staying on. It really sounds like you are just tired of the whole thing..I get it. Remember we can only put so much in, so for a while eat what you want as heathly as you can. Not a whole cake in one day, but if you need a few bites of cake or pizza, then do it. Then after a bit get back in the saddle, you have come such a long way and you look great, just a little bit more and you are there. You know what might work is maybe a week of just protein shakes and water and a little protein food and kind of restart yourself. I wish you well.
