  1. At only a couple weeks out, don't worry about the lumps, that is the healing process going on and they will most likly completly go away.
  2. I make my intake of protein very simple. I have 2 scoops cho. Unjury and 2 c skim milk hot in am,that gives me 50 and then 1/2 c tuna is 28 and I am set for the day, everything else is a plus.
  3. Well, that does seem like you have a large capicity? My first week out was barly able to get water in just because of size limitations. I too had a completly stress free post op. Walked right away in hosp, no pain, no meds and have continued to do so. I guess I would ask my surgeon what size the stomach is and maybe be careful about putting too much in although believe me you will know when you have over filled.

    #2 Please Help

Same here, took about a week and even now 1 mo out very little, mostly liquid. Again, if solids are not going in there is nothing to come out....
  5. You have done great. Now is not the time to trade in being over weight for being crazy. Let it alone. Eat right, do as much as you can and if it is a couple pounds a month then so be it. You have gone thru so much, stop and enjoy what you have done so far...

    Down 100 Pounds! Yay!

WOW, what a transformation and you just look so happy. On a different note I see you were in Key West. We have a Hyatt timeshare, right to the right as you get off ship and we will be there next week. I am 1 mo out and down 25 which will enable me to do more walking around than I usually do....

    coffee

I need my coffee and thank goodness my one cup does not bother me at all. I was addicted to only have coffee with vanilla cream in it. Now I put a scoop of vanilla Unjury and blend it and it tastes just like a Latte...

    18 Days Post Op!

I am a OR nurse and this is what we call "too much too soon". You are feeling good so you start to do, then whap it gets you. You had major surgery and I think you went a little too fast. Back off a little and wait some more on the exercise.

I Had My Surgery 4 Days Ago

Hi, I am 65 and am 3 weeks out. Don't worry about the protein right now. You should only be on clear liquids.

    I need serious help here...

I am also a nurse and I agree with the colic as a possible culprit. I would go further to say, if this goes on for longer than 12 hrs. I would high tail it to the ER and quit guessing.

    Stomach Bacteria-H Pylori

I too had a [pos on this pre-op on blood. Probably half of all people will have a pos with serum. I then had another test, blowing into a bag, this was neg. Once you have a pos. serum it will always be positive in blood, but the ther test shows if it is active. It is a costly test but for all you who have had pos. with blood, you could opt for the other test before you go on meds. In fact my surgeon after the pos wanted to do an esophogoscopy for a visual and bx., that's when I took the other test instead. Depending on what antibiotic you are on, you could ask your pharmacist if there is a liquid equilivent. Otherwise try and coat them with something slippery, like maybe pudding or dip them in olive oil.

5 Weeks Post Gastric Sleeve Op

I try to put some protein powder in what ever I can. I put a scoop of Unjury vanilla in coffee, blender it and it tastes like a latte. I put some more in my pudding, cannot even taste it. Then 2 c of skim milk and 1 scoop choc. Right there I have 25gm in coffee, 25 in pudding, 32 in milk and 25 with choc=over 100 right there.
  14. That is exactly the feeling you get when you have hit the top. At the first twinge of that feeling I stop. I am 3 weeks out. What works for me right now is that I eat when I am hungrey, maybe 4 times a day. I start with a protein shake in am which gets me 60 of protein including the skim milk. Then mid morning I will have about 2 onces of fish and a spoon of applesauce, same again around 1, then about 4 I will have a couple ounces of something I want, then again about 7. In between food I will have a popsicle and water. That is why you should try to eat slow and then as soon as that feeling/pain comes, stop.

    Why am I soooo nervous

Keep in mind all of us pigged out and we eventually stopped when we could fit no more in. You will still be able to have what ever you want, but the stopping will be so much sooner.
  17. Well this is a hit in the head. Lost 12# one week post op. Next 2 days, I have gained 1 1/2 #. Getting 90% of water, 100% protein, and about 500 calories what with skim milk and protein mix. Anyone else had this happen?
  18. It has to be just too big of bites. I use a baby spoon and a bite every 2 mins.
  19. WOW, you are really at the over kill on the pre-op spectrum, so sorry. I am one week out and so glad mine was so easy. Saw surgeon, got labs, ekg/cardiologist, dietician and that was it. I am 65, a nurse and my husband is a surgeon, but that had nothing to do with it. From what my surgeon said, what I had done is what is required for a certified bariatric procedure. Unless you had some medical issue going in, this is bordering on ridiculous. You have gone thru all this, so I guess see it thru, but you can also ask if the rest is absolutely necessary. Surgeons differ in what they want, I had the basice, yours must what to go a little bit higher and that is not bad, but still ask.Oh yeah, I had psych eval also.

    Really Tired!

First of all remember you had major surgery, just because it was done laparoscopic does not take that fact away. Also anesthesia takes it's toll. I am a surgery nurse and I always tell my post op friends to be careful, because you will be taking naps for about 2-3 weeks and all of a sudden you feel great and then do too much. Yes, take you vitamins, yest get your protein. Once the protein is in have some warm broth, that feels great. Try to be up as much as possible..but in the long run you just have to give this a little time.
  21. Most important bring 1 if not 2 of your bed pillows from home, it makes a world of difference. Don't really bring 2 much, I never opened my books. You are mostly just going to sleep, walk in the hall and back to sleep.
  22. I had my sleeve 4 days ago. I am a surgery nurse so I know a whole more then most of what can go wrong. I was never really scared, just so happy that this is available. I am also 65 and I do not want to be on the sidelines any more. We travel a lot and I have a hard time keeping up. Also, I love clothes and want to start looking good in them. I take no meds, but my BP was creeping up and I do not want joint replacements from all the wt. that is on them. The most fun is that we live out of state from all family, so it will be really exciting when we see them. Step daug and family are first in the middle of Dec., and I should be about 50 lbs. down by the, enough to notice. I am looking foward to 6 mos. out, when I can eat anything, just in tiny portions, but remember you are also going to be full with that.

Over 60 and having the sleeve

Hi, I am 65 and had my sleeve on Tues. No problems post op at all,no pain meds, no nausea, just a soreness on abdomen, like you ran into something. First day home yesterday and very hard to get protein drink down, today much eaiser. I made a mix of skim milk and protein powder to equal 75 gm, keep it in fridge and take a couple sips every few hrs. I should have it gone by 4:00 and then will drink water till tomorrow am. The amazing part is I have lost 14 pounds since surgery.
  24. I had my sleeve 3days ago and am doing great. I literally had no pain post op, no nausea. Abdomen felt like you had bumped into a corner of dresser, sore but no real pain. In hosp. for 2 days and home yesterday. Very difficult getting fluids down yesterday and so far this morning a world of difference. I mix 2 cups skim, which has 20 of protein and 400 calories with enough scoops of protein mix to equal 75 of protein. I leave in fridge and every couple of hours take a few sips, which is going down fine. When that is gone I will spend the rest of the day with water. I find the easier I can make it the better for me.Also since day of surgery I have lost 14#, amazing.
  25. Bring your bed pillow from home, hosp. pillows are terrible...
