    4 month stall

I am getting close to my 4 months. I to have gone through the cravings but I am fighting them. I've been so stricked with myself since the surgery. Now that I am fully healed I can eat almost everything. I've lost over 50 pds in 3 months - no complaints. But I am at a stand still. It's been over a week. I've continued to keep on my control regiment but it is discouraging to not see the scale tip my way. Congrats on ur weight loss. You are doing fab.
  3. Holiday time is coming around the corner. Its a tough time of year to be on a weight control plan. How are you going to get thru this holiday season?

    Sabotaging ourselves?

Is it just me or old habits die hard? I found myself this morning going back to an old habit...skipping meals! I don't know I am doing this?
  6. I don't know about you but I know holiday time is coming around the corner and I really want to stick to my diet. Any ideas on how to stay on track?
  7. Coming out of the kitchen closet isn't an easy decesion. I grant you that. But being able to talk about to others helps you continue on. Some of my friends were not swayyed one way or the other. Some were "CONGRATS" and a few were shocked! Getting a mixed reaction is apart of our daily lives. Each person has a different outlook on how they view things. Its so true, skinny ppl have no clue what we are up against. They say "just put the fork down". Its much more than that. Congrats on your current weight loss. Each pound is one pound less you had before. Try not to look back on what you did in the past rather what you are doing now to change it. I too have been up and down the scale before. Feels at times I am married to it! You have made a decesion to change the way you view food. Having any kind of gastic procedure is a step in the right direction. True as well the pounds are not going to melt away. We still have to work hard on making the right food decesions... not always an easy task. Keep in touch and read the blogs. They are a great tool for you to learn new techniques and tips on how to stay on track. Wishing you much luck and thank you for writing in.
  8. Don't panic...keep doing what you are doing. The doctor is right keep drinking. You need to flush your system out. By drinking fluids this is the way. The first few days you won't see any results but the scale will tip down be patient. Keep us informed on how your doing and don't give up. Were rooting for ya!

    Sabotaging ourselves?

Its so odd I started doing this now. I am now, 15 weeks past my surgery and I found myself skipping. First I thought, perhaps I am just so busy or is it something I am doing without even realizing it? Good idea about the protein bar. Being that I am always on the go that is one way I can get some protein in me. Thanks for sharing ohh and thanks for the compliment too!

    Helping others...

Do you know someone who is going to have the lap band or gastric sleeve surgery in the very near future? I had the pleasure of lending my own advice yesterday to a woman who was having the gastric sleeve. It was so nice to be able to talk with her and explain some of things that will be going on. It felt so good to calm & relax her mind. Have you helped someone on your journey?

    Helping others...

I so agree with you on the sharing end. I have made myself available to anyone who is wanting to do the sleeve and or is going through it. Its nice to have a shoulder to lean on when times get rough. Through my surgeon Dr. Feiz, I have met other sleevers and we share our experiences together. A few of us have become friends and go out, excerise and share. Thanks for the reply!

    Sabotaging...why do we do it?

Does old habits die hard or its just me falling back into the "bad ways" I used to? How can we break bad habits when it comes to eating?
  14. I am new to the site. I am so excited to have a place to go and express my thoughts and my journey thru this wonderful change in my life.

I have lost 53pds in 15 weeks and I am doing great. Though, I have run into a plateau issue... any advice you can send my way?

  15. I find myself weighing everyday and I am getting nuts. Ya think its a good idea or not...weigh in

  16. Why do we Sabotage ourselves? Is it because old habits die hard? I found myself today doing the old way. Skipping meals... why is it when were doing so well we tend to slip?

  17. When we know were doing so well...why is it that we need to Sabotage ourselves? What purpose do we this? Is it because of old habits?

  18. Recently I ran into an old friend I haven't seen in a while. She recognized my weight loss Nf asked me how I lost the weight. I hesitated for a moment. I wasn't sure if I should tell her I had the gastric surgery 3 months ago. Why? I decided quickly to tell her that I had the surgery. Why should we hide our smart decision to finally attack our weight issue? Do you have a hard time telli...

mourning the loss of a dear friend.......FOOD.

Arnetta I am so moved by your story. We do come so attached to food don't we? And we don't even know it. When I got home from the 1st day of my gastric sleeve surgery, I cried too! I asked myself "omgosh what have I done to myself"? The intial shock of finally getting the surgery and now dealing with the reality of "reality" is a lot to bare. In time, you will become so much more at ease with your decesion. Once you start to see the weight is coming off and you are making wiser choices of foods to eat. This OMGosh theory will soon fade. I wish you all the best and if you need anything...just a email away..GOOD LUCK

Some ideas for the "pureed" diet

I love strawberries and pears. So i take the pears and peel the skin off. Take the strawberries and pears and puree them together. Add alittle sweetner if needed and voila... a satisfying desert!

  22. Well I decided that not eating breakfast wasn't such a good idea! I paid for it dearly today. Good lesson to learn, "DON'T skip MEALS!!!

  24. Sarah, Thanks for writing in... Your friend doesn't seem happy? Perhaps she is jealous that you are taking the right steps to a better life. Shame on your friend for not backing you. You need positive people in your arena not people that are going to give you a hard time. Family is your BEST support. Without the strong arms of my husband (Eli) and our daughter (Sami), I don't think I would have made it this far. Congrats on sticking with it and not giving up on you dreams... for a better you! Keep in touch and let me know how you are doing. Maddy
  25. Opie, well said "shame" and why should we feel shame? Personally, I have been on a diet my entire life. I feel for the first time I am in control of "me". Talking about this issue helps me and I know helps our other fellow lap bands and sleevers get passed the fears of being in the closet.
