Patient died in Mexico, who was the doctor????
MeMeMEEE replied to christina420's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Remember we have alot more regulation in the US and ways of seeing how many deaths have happened with certain procedures - I don't believe there is that oversight in Mexico and many other countries. I don't know if I can believe your statement - maybe there are more REPORTED deaths in the US but how many happen in Mexico that are not documented by any authority? We only hear by rumor. -
study by Dr in California of 5 year patients?
MeMeMEEE replied to MeMeMEEE's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Ok just found a study that suggests some regain after 5 years. This is a 2011 report. They are saying 43% failure after 5 years. They do suggest looking at similar numbers for other procedures - wonder what the rate is for RNY? http://www.nxtbook.com/nxtbooks/matrix/bt_supp0511/index.php?startid=3#/8 -

Thanks - I have dug around and wasn't able to find anything either - I just wonder if this Dr is stuck on RNY although he said he has Labband patients as well - really frustrated when I hear they negativity from a Dr. -

My program allows us to switch to the petites after a month - I agree the chewables are nasty. -
Mine is using a 40 and he is calling it the middle size. I had thought the range was 32-40 so that surprised me.

As I near the end of my Weight Loss Journey...
MeMeMEEE replied to LilMissDiva Irene's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
My goal is a size 10 - that also will keep me very slightly above my normal BMI but I have been there before and liked who I was and how I looked. So what to BMI! -
How much time should I plan to take off of work?
MeMeMEEE replied to cass3057's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My Dr said 4-6 weeks and when I asked this question alot of people said 3 weeks was when they started feeling really well. I work from home and have a very flexible schedule but still planning 3 weeks at least - FMLA since I don't have that much paid time. -
hmm interesting! So it was sort of a broth of that meal?

Same with my Tanita's - consistently 1 lb heavier than at weight watchers.

Losing weight during 6mo supervised diet
MeMeMEEE replied to 420gal's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My insurance specifies that they use the BMI from the start to qualify for surgery. -
has anyone sucessfully talked their Dr in to a smaller bougie size?
MeMeMEEE posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If so, I am interested in how you did it, any information you used to persuade them, etc. -
I have to do a 6 month medically supervised diet for my insurance and that is currently how I am losing. I understand alot of people lose 15-20 in the actual pre-op diet - mine will be 2 weeks of 4 shakes a day, non carb veggies and 6 carbs a day (like cream of wheat, V8, sf pudding, no sugar added applesauce and fruit flavored yogurt - no fruit).

tanita brand, this is what WW uses at their meetings. I had best luck finding online. I own 2 for about 8 years now.

6 Month Supervised Dieters
MeMeMEEE replied to wishes's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have my last of the 6 months MSWL visit on July 11th and then submitted to insurance!! I have a nutrition class (going over the pre-op diet) that same day and am planning to stop in to the program office and check to make sure they are all set to submit me!! I am hoping for surgery the second week of August, As far as losing too much in your MSWL time, my insurance's (BCBSIL) medical policy states: NOTE: The initial BMI at the beginning of a weight reduction program will be used to meet the BMI criteria for the definition of morbid obesity used in this policy.
