Are you sure your insurance will not cover it? Also, keep checking because I have known a few who have found out at the last minute that their insurance began to cover it. Mine has only covered it for a year.

I have seen (maybe in the pages attached) where they talk about a revision of VSG. But if you are diligent about changing your lifestyle you shouldn't stretch your stomach out. I wouldn't think overeating a time or two a year would stretch it too much.

My husband is a little over weight, his BMI is 35 but I LOVE that he isn't skinny. When I was skinny before I loved feeling petite next to him, not just in height (a foot difference). I got to an 8-10 before and I was still considered overweight but it was a good weight for me. I hope that is where the sleeve takes me. I've thought about this alot, I don't think I could be with a guy who likes me skinny and not fat too. After all, my weight is part of me, it has shaped me and my life. I have never cared for vain people so I wouldn't want to be in a relationship with one.

Oh ladies you give me HOPE! I am in a 20 or 22 right now, I have some cute dressy black capri's in my closet in an 18 - and a cute shirt I bought at goodwill that is a little tighter than I like it! I may be able to shop in my own closet!! :lol:

I am pre-op and my vitamin D was low - they have me taking 2 dry vitamin D Bariatric Advantage brand a day - just retested last Monday and waiting for results. About half way through they told me I should be taking calcium with them for absorption so I am anxious to see if my levels have went up.

It's funny, even with the "failure rate" I still think it is an awesome tool. I can see it is something I need to use long term and not just til I get to goal. I thought the GERD/Acid Reflux thing was interesting also. Not worrisome enough for me to go to RNY though. I have one friend who had an out and out DS to begin with, she has had great weight loss, very near goal at 8 months out. But I think DS is not for me today, who knows if I would need to revise what I would choose.

Is that 18% of your total weight or 18% of excess to lose? My 18% of excess would only be 17 lbs so I hope I am down more than that!! 18% of total weight would be almost 40. Hope it's more like that!!

I went through my closet about a year ago and did the same, gave it to my friends and even a family member starting a thrift store. Here I am scheduled for 8/8! But guess what? My daughter is my goal size, so I took some of her clothes she wanted to get rid of and hung them in my closet for when i get there!!

I am sure you will be fine! My first one was like Feb 25 and my last one was July 11 - I got approval and scheduled yesterday!

There is a Blue Cross Association and all BCBS are a "francise" if you will - I work for Health Care Service Corporation and we have IL, TX, NM and OK. Anthem is another one that is large. Some are individual states. Some do consider investigational but you should be able to call and ask their medical policy on the sleeve. The CPT code is 43775, Sometimes you can find their policy on the website as well.

Zeta, I got my date yesterday and could barely concentrate on work I am so ready!! Not too nervous - got the ball rolling for FMLA, looking forward to the time off!! I was afraid I would want to eat eat eat now that I have a date but so far so good!
