What are your dates so I can add you to our calendar?

    Imurance is switching!

Some insurances do require that, someone else was asking about this. You can always have him ask his employer if they have a number you can call for new benefit questions. Often it is dictated by the employer.

    Surgery Date

I have been trying to, some I have seen other places on the board and added them, some I have seen dates change or the surgery moved to September. I will go back to my last update and go through it again - I had posted to make sure to copy the one right above your post but it isn't helping It would be best if whoever started the thread can update their list at the top? so we can have just one list?

    The Easy Way Out

First off, how long does the gallbladder ultrasound take? I am scheduled at 7:15 tomorrow for it. Next, let me tell you, after the first few months of high weight loss, the weight loss I see others sharing is something I could EASILY acheive in my weight watchers days - but I couldn't keep it off! I am using this surgery as a TOOL to help me keep it off too! You still have to change your way of eating and be more active - same as if you did it "naturally." But the sleeve gives you the ability to stay on track easier, not cheat to the extreme. That's my thought on it anyway!

    Dietician is confusing me!

Is this a dietitian your surgeon uses often? My dietitian is part of my whole program, specifically for bariatric surgery. I had to see my Dr each month for 6 months and each month we talked about what I was doing (weight watchers and walking) - I lost 21 lbs in that time. Also want to mention that there are great online trackers that are simple, some even have phone apps - and all the foods are in there! myfitnesspal.com and weight watchers both do. You really need to take the time now to track, even if it is just for a few days in the beginning because it will help you get used to portion control and being more conscious of what you eat. If you don't have time now, how will you do it after surgery?

how can i eat this much?

not drinking around meals is drilled in to us multiple times during my program - I have had 3 nutrition classes and 3 nutritionist visits and all of them say it over and over - not to mention it is all over our manual! I am pre-op and it's not something I have tried to practice, I am pretty sure I will be one who has to set an alarm to remind myself LOL

pre op how big the stomach is

I have to laugh - I always find myself thinking pound instead of cup and really have to watch myself when cooking!! 16 oz is a pound - 8 oz is a cup

    All-Stars Preo-op diet thread

a little disappointed in the unflavored - someone said it wasn't bad in crystal light so I tried it - I think I would rather have a regular shake and get more protein!! Has anyone found anything where unflavored is near undetectable?

NOT STAYING ON 6 MONTH DIET

Main thing I would say is this - you NEED to stick to it because after the sleeve? You HAVE to change your habits! My NUT told me this is how they know if someone can stick with a strict plan, we have to not only be approved by insurance and our Dr in my program but all of those involved in the program meet and decide if we are a good candidate! Sticking with it may help you avoid additional classes or NUT visits or psych visits in the long run as well! I did weight watchers 5 of my 6 months, I lost 21 lbs and I did cheat here and there but I showed them I can stick with it! If I had really tried I would be down 30-35 instead of 21 but I tried not to stress too much on it, stuck with it 5-6 days a week and even on the days I didn't I enjoyed what I wanted in smaller portions. That's just my thoughts - hope it helps!!
  21. it is to shrink your liver before surgery - my understanding is livers can be very fatty and get in the way during the surgery - harder for the surgeon to move out of the way and you DO NOT want you liver nicked!! I have heard some people say their doctor doesn't require it because they have already lost a lot of weight before surgery - my Dr seems to require it of everyone, my diet is very low fat for 2 weeks even though I have been doing weight watchers since March, losing 21 lbs already. So I would say if all liquids would bother you, still just be conscious of your fat intake during the time before your surgery.
  22. Ps. Make sure to click on August All-Stars in my signature and visit the August 2011 forum!! We have a list of everyone's dates too!!
  23. me too!! YAY!!! I hope this two weeks flies by! I know the 10 days since I got my date has!!
  24. I have heard people mix it in to pudding, jello, yogurt, soups - but also have heard people add in vanilla in many sweet things also. I know for me it isn't so much the TASTE but the SMELL! I have to drink it from a cup with a lid! Have you tried that?
